Album of the Week 10-12-24
Afternoon folks!
It's a good week to listen to the blues, and we're starting off with Albert King's classic Stax album Born Under A Bad Sign, an album that grabbed a lot of folks by the ears and wouldn't let go. Following that is an album of Cousin Joe (Pleasant) from New Orleans' early recordings, there's some really great stuff in there. After that we move on to blues rock with some late 60's Lonnie Mack and Creedence Clearwater Revival after which is an assortment of recordings of Jeff Beck, Jimmy Page, Nicky Hopkins and others. We finish up with some prog rock from Be Bop Deluxe.
Enjoy the tunes and have a great weekend!
Here 'tis:

Cousin Joe ~ Cousin Joe From New Orleans In His Prime
Lonnie Mack ~ Whatever's Right

was that time I went to Baylor University and flunked the required church attendance.
I left after a semester, hooked up with the hippies at Sam Houston University, and CCR roared in the dorm!
Thanks, friend!

evening otc...
yep, i was a big fan of ccr in my teens as were most of my musician buddies, we played those tunes in a lot of garages.
have a great rest of your long weekend!
"Green River" probably is one of my CCR faves. I have
a vinyl copy around here somewhere. Great tunes as always, joe. Need it after dealing with the stress of two hurricanes, even though we dodged the bullets of destruction with both. Anywho, thanks and Rec'd!!

Hey Joe,
Hi Joe,
Where ya goin' with that stack of records in your hand?
GREAT Albert King and Lonnie Mack disks! Awesome sauce! I have that Be Bop Deluxe vinyl, and used it to show people what they were since it was a great song selection they used. Coulda been a double though...:)
thanks for the great sounds!

heh, well, i just picked up another stack of disks out of the basement. good news, in the bunch there were two more albert king stax albums and another 60's lonnie mack album. i haven't really checked out their condition yet, but a casual glance suggested that they were pretty good and will clean up alright. so in a few weeks, there will be more.
yeah, that's a great be bop deluxe album, the live performance energy does a lot for them.
have a great weekend!
