Throughout the twenty year war on terror, we have failed again and again to look in the mirror. Self reflection is not an American strong point. Clearly the US provokes more global violence, destruction, and death than any other nation...by far (and has done so since at least WWII). However, 9/11 provided the impetuous to do far more...added gas to the fire, creating selective wars, coups, and conflicts without congressional approval (and in many cases public awareness).
It is appropriate and necessary that we also reflect on the illegal invasion and occupation of Afghanistan and Iraq and the unspeakable deaths and destruction caused by the Global War on Terror that followed the attacks: more than one million Iraqis; 164,000 people in Afghanistan; 80,000 Pakistanis; and countless more in Yemen, Somalia, Libya, Syria and Niger, and more we don’t even know about.

Last week, my partner Kate was hospitalized due to some complications from late-stage kidney disease. Thankfully, all she needed was to be put on a diuretic. But it's been a hell of a month.

I wanted to write something for the 9/11 anniversary but couldn't decide what angle to take. There are so many angles. There's the obvious angle, who really did it? The evidence. The third building, WTC7 that fell like a pancake. The dancing Israeli's. The "New Pearl Harbor" prediction by the neocons who took charge under Bush. Did a plane really hit the Pentagon, or was that a missile? Did Bush and Cheney know? The list goes on and on.

As the U.S. News Media continues to program and reduce the American people into subservient, obedient, fearful, Military-loving, War-loving, flag-waving sheep (now also legally robbed of their civil liberties), over the 9/11 event -- it is important to have an Independent look back at ... just what we were told, who was protected, and how most of the public was completely duped.
