The Purge of 2016

I dropped this comment in Lookout's Weekly Watch this morning:

Good morning LO...

with the revelations about so many liberal media sites receiving USAID monies, it dawned on me this morning that the forced exodus from DKos back in 2016 may have been nudged by USAID funding.

Lookout's reply:

I have not thought about that, but might be likely...

Why would Marcos ban Bernie support otherwise? I just took him as a CIA cut out, but as Dylan said money doesn't talk it swears...and evidently USAID was a funding source for CIA goals.

Interesting idea, thanks!

Edit to add: Perhaps the orange satan is a USAID site?

I wanted to repost my comment and reply as an essay for wider discussion.

What do you all think?

Disclaimer: I have no proof and this is all pure conjecture.

Yoon's impeachment saga continues...

The finance minister and current acting president, Choi Sang-mok, testified at Assembly hearing Feb 6 on the note passed to him December 3, while he was speaking to Yoon directly. Yoon said "refer to it." Choi claims he doesn't know who gave it to him, he didn't read it, that it was already folded, and put it in his pocket.

Album of the Week 2-8-25

Afternoon folks!

Ready? Here we go. Starting out we've got a compilation of Rufus Thomas' r&b hits, followed by albums from Jimmy Rushing and Mose Allison in the jazz/blues vein. After that there's an album of Chicago blues from the Siegel-Schwall Band. Moving on to the musical diversity section there's a double album from a band that I've been seeing at festivals and a couple of nearby gigs that features an incredible younger guitarist and band with strong hints of the Allman Brothers and the Grateful Dead in their playing, Daniel Donato's Cosmic Country - it's worth a listen. Finishing up we've got some serious bluegrass from Peter Rowan.

Just as a reminder, if youtube is still screwed up and the full album embed only plays the first song, click the "on youtube" link to listen to the full album.

Friday Night Photos Safari Park Edition

Welcome to Friday Night Photos everyone. Your once a week break from the daily madness of the crazy world we live in. Post any photos, memes, music, or whatever else you find of interest that helps you escape the madness.

We got a little bit of rain last night and there's heavy mist as I'm writing this, this morning . It's supposed to be partly sunny and mild tomorrow through Monday and then maybe a slight chance of rain for the rest of next week. We shall see. I topped off the car while I was out grocery shopping earlier this morning. The price has been holding steady at $4.29 a gal for the last few weeks. As for groceries, eggs were $13.49 for 1 1/2 doz. $5 for 1 lb of ground beef and $2.50 for a 4oz can of tuna. Hope things are a little more affordable in your neck of the woods.

Some of our favorite friends at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park.

Open Thread - 02-07-25 - Nomads and Gurus

I'm going to let my mind run wild here, because I grew up in the 60s and that's what we did back then.

Does anyone one else feel like we've entered the final stages of the Great Reset? Hasn't the so called Deep State rolled over a little too easily? Why are they standing by while the current government is dismantled? It's like the government is being pared down for a reason other than what we've been told.

I'm not a Republican, nor am I a Democrat, although I used to be. I'm not a centrist either, so I guess the best descriptor would be that I'm a political nomad.

Screw them all and the horses they rode in on. I'm not going to be a cheerleader for either side. I'm going to call out bullshit when I see it though.

I do admit that I like some stuff the new administration is doing, but I'm still going to call out the bullshit when it pops up.
