Winter Storm

Much of the US is literally in a winter storm, and perhaps the entire world is figuratively in a winter storm...especially if we start a hot war with Iran. I think all the countries of the world are facing an economic storm this year, after all gold just hit $5000 and silver $100/oz. The big happening in the west this week was the Davos WEF elite meeting. Trump, Carney, and Zelensky were the primary entertainment at the globalist gala. Mark Ruta (Rutti tutti as Pepe calls him) seems to have given Trump carte blanche to set up Greenland bases, by passing Denmark and Greenland for permission or even input. Trump announced he plans to take over Cuba by the end of the year as well. It is a new imperial colonial era, I guess. More news below the fold.

As the Trump Phenomenon assumes Shock and Awe Mode
Submitted by fire with fire on Sat, 01/24/2026 - 10:04pmOk, Trump Derangement Syndrome Sufferers -- this ain't the "He's gunnas." It's now the full monte of
"Holy Shit! He done it!"
Are we shocked? Awed? That is up to us.
Personally, I doubt that he dreams up any of these crazy assertions of lethal force, but he sure as hell owns it all as of now.
I oppose shooting people dead, as a matter of moral principle. Duh.
I oppose kidnapping. Call me a stickler.

Album of the Week 1-24-26
Submitted by joe shikspack on Sat, 01/24/2026 - 3:00pmAfternoon folks!
Here's some great blues to anticipate snowmageddon with, or not if you're not in its sights. Starting off, we've got a bunch of fine delta blues musicians (Big Jack Johnson, Frank Frost and Sam Carr) collectively known as The Jelly Roll Kings, after which we move up to Detroit for an album from Eddie Burns, an early sideman with John Lee Hooker. On to Chicago, there's an album from Willie Mabon with some great Chicago sidemen on the session. Following that we have Johnny Shines a running partner of Robert Johnson and later a Chicago blues staple with an acoustic album. Switching up genres is an album of zydeco music with Nathan and the Zydeco Cha Chas, featuring cajun fiddler Michael Doucet. Finishing out from the diversity department is an album from an original member of Pink Floyd and an interesting songwriter, Syd Barrett.
Enjoy the tunes and have a great weekend!

Good morning, good people!
Cold weather brings out the cold weather foods. In these parts, chili. You might get a kick out of our preferred seasonings choice's story.

Not sure about the weather, although we may be on the edge of the ice event, so electricity may be spotty here. We shall see.
It's funny how the news of Friday night can flip by Saturday morning. What I and all of us know when we hit the hay last night just might be the opposite of what we know this morning.
Friday Night Photos Horseless Carriage Edition
Submitted by Socialprogressive on Fri, 01/23/2026 - 5:00pmHappy Friday everyone. Welcome to Friday Night Photos your once a week escape from the day to day insanity of the world we live in. Post any photos, memes, music or whatever else you find of interest that helps tune out the madness.
Quick local update. The weather since last Friday has been a mixed bag. It was sunny and warm through Tuesday. Haven't seen the sun since then. Got some rain last night and we're supposed to get more today and tomorrow. Over the last few weeks the price of gas dropped ¢.40 a gal. from $4.49 to $4.09 which is nice. Now if only the cost of groceries would go down too. That's not asking for to much is it?
2 weeks ago I was planning to photograph a vintage car show. Unfortunately do to circumstances beyond my control I wasn't able to make it. So instead tonight I'm posting some leftovers (I've got lots of leftovers) from last Aprils Good Guys car show.

Good Morning - At the moment life seems a bit absurd. Dealing with daily trivialities while watching our country unwind and the world separating into teams for conflict.
