European Meltdown and Rapid Fire Actions

Open Thread Image.jpg

The Trump administration is busy. It's difficult to keep up with the divergent paths of action from them. This week we had the good news that both Tulsi and RFK were confirmed. I enjoyed both Hegseth's and Vance's speeches in Munich, and the resulting globalists' outrage. Trump spoke extensively with Putin and they plan to meet in Saudi Arabia as Russia continues to gain ground in Ukraine. To my mind, the drone strike at Chernobyl was probably a false flag by Ukraine. The D.O.G.E. movement seems to be gaining speed and the support of the majority, despite the Demwit's fight against it. This week NED funding was suspended. The wall is being built again and many deportations are happening. The Gaza ceasefire remains tenuous with hostage exchanges still occurring. Plus we had Taibbi and Shellenburger testifying again in congress this week. Is your head spinning yet? All this and more below the fold...

Album of the Week 2-15-25

Afternoon folks!

This week we kick off with a collection of Otis Spann mostly solo pieces, followed by a compilation with a bunch of B.B. King and Bobby Blue Band along with some other classic blues tunes. After that, we're off to blues rock territory with The Band's second album followed by an album from Fleetwood Mac's first bass player Bob Brunning and his band along with some appearances by Peter Green. Following that is an album from slide guitar monster, Bob Brozman and we finish up with some California country rock by Poco to mellow you out.

Enjoy the tunes and have a great weekend!

Saturday Open Thread 2/15/25: Odds and Ends

Good morning, good people! I hope anyone that's into celebrating Valentine's Day had a good one yesterday.

My secretary and I were treated to beautiful roses and ribbons. Thanks, Dear One, and she and I forgive you for your trespasses and give you a year's credit. The bouquets will beautify our desks for a while.

A song I loved when I was 15:

Friday Night Photos Ichthyology Edition

Welcome to Friday Night Photos everyone. Your once a week break from the daily madness of the crazy world we live in. Post any photos, memes, music, or whatever else you find of interest that helps you escape the madness.

On Tuesday the camera club had our monthly outing at Birch Aquarium. We didn't find out until we got there that half the aquarium was closed off due to construction. That was a bummer. On the bright side, February is half off admission to all museums in San Diego so we didn't have to pay full price to see only half the aquarium.

Open Thread - 02-14-25 - A Big What If

I'm going to be a bit late getting this one out this morning. I ran across an article late last night that changed the course of my original intention for today's open thread. It's about something that's been on my mind for a while now and the article that I'm going to highlight makes a compelling case.

I hesitate writing about this because I'm having as much fun as anyone else watching the greedheads squirm on Capital Hill. The article is speculative in nature, but if correct may have profound implications.

I've written several times in the past about the current iteration of AI (Artificial Intelligence). AI is marketed as a game changer for humanity with powers attributed to it beyond it's present scope. It's given god-like properties by those doing the marketing as there's lots of money to be made from its applications. It is falsely advertised by its proponents like it is a sentient entity, which in reality, it is not and may never be.

AI is, in its essence and at the present, nothing but more or less a glorified search engine. It scrapes (copies) massive amount of data from the internet and deposits it into a database where it can be cross indexed to answer queries. So far, the data base, the internet, is one that we all have access to, but because of limitations we individually lack the ability to store all of the information gleaned from the source.

But, what if AI was able to scrape the mother-lode of all data and added it to a massive database? The mother-lode being all of the data from the US government. Imagine the power one could wield with access to all of governmental information at the tip of the fingers. Sounds like it would be impossible, right? How could anyone be allowed to access that data to the point where it could be scraped?

Let's take a look.

Caitlin Johnstone on the Trump Problem

From her most recent article:

For an entire decade now American consciousness has been plagued by the delusion that fighting the power has something to do with Donald Trump. Democrats act like they’re being brave revolutionaries by standing against him. Republicans act like they’re being brave revolutionaries by supporting him.
