No Reverse Gear in the Collective West...

open thread.jpg

Prepare for impact fellow crash test dummies, or so it seems as the west doubles down on its collision course to war with both Russia and China. This week alone, the US pledged another three billion over the next few years to provide arms to Ukraine, and the UK and BoJo pledged an additional $63M in arms. Not to mention the likely new PM of the UK is ready to start a nuclear war with Russia. Additionally the US is setting up Taiwan as Ukraine 2.0 to provoke a war with China. Meanwhile, much of the world plans to hitch their wagon to the rising economies of the BRICS+ economic alliance rejecting subjugation to the US, IMF and the collective west. The west continues its self delusion that they are most of the world, but in reality comprise 12-15% of global population.

Album of the Week - 8-27-22

Afternoon folks!

Well, this week my trip down south derailed my schedule of uploading videos to Youtube, so the pickings are good, but sparse this week.

There's the 1967 album by the Savoy Brown Blues Band, their first. Also there's a compilation double album "Gabe's Dirty Blues" which has some really great tunes on it worth checking out.

Enjoy!

Welcome to Saturday's Potluck - 8-27-2022

“Learn the rules like a pro, so you can break them like an artist.”.
Pablo Picasso

Observation of the mundane activities of life is one of the methods I use to gauge how world events are effecting lives. The weekly food shopping excursion is such an opportunity, since it includes regular visits to various stores supplied by different wholesalers and target markets.

If my normal pattern was to only visit one store regularly my perception of economic changes happening would be very different based on which store I was frequenting. Using Bob's Red Mill flour as an example. This week a 5 pound bag at normal price ranged from $3.29 to $8.09.

There is continually fewer shoppers and shorter lines in all the stores. Shoppers are starting to explore different stores. The newbies in upscale clothing are wandering the aisles of the discount stores with dazed looks. Same customer shift happened in 2008.

Friday Night Photos Mobius Trip Edition

Happy Friday everyone. Please feel free to post any photos, memes, or music you like.

A little change of pace from the usual animals, bugs or flowers I normally post.
These were shot a few years ago at a couple of camera club workshops on black light and table top photography. For those that may be wondering about all the bubbles on the flower, it's submerged in water mixed with club soda.

Peacemaker and being an Enemy of Ukraine

A few weeks ago a plane that took off from Moscow airport has engine trouble and had to land in a cornfield. Miraculously no one was hurt.
However, the names of the survivors made it into the press, and those names were picked up by a web site known as Peacemaker. Peacemaker is an ironic name because it means the opposite.

Open Thread - 08-26-22 - Schwabean Dreams are Made of These

I'm sitting here at my desk, Friday morning, unprepared and wondering what I am going to write about. I had a rough day yesterday mowing, trimming and pulling vines from a chain link fence which is always a great pleasure. If you've ever had to do that then you know about the exquisite jollification of intertwined vines and metal. The grass and all things green just took off with the recent long awaited rains here in east Texas. Today will be another day of mowing, 4 acres worth. It's good seeing green grass again.

Granma.jpgThrough the window I can see that damn squirrel on the bird feeder scarfing down all of the sunflower seeds again. It's a pesky little tree rat, as Fat Freddie would say, or was it Free Wheelin' Franklin? Invoking the Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers always calms me. I wonder what those old boys would have to say about current affairs. Oh yeah, it would go something like "Weed will get you through times of no money better than money will get you through times of no weed", or some such. It's that kind of philosophical wisdom that calms me, if you catch my drift.

I usually jump up and run outside and chase that fluffy tailed menace from the feeder, but you know what, it's just trying to survive like everything and everybody Grampa's_Car.jpgelse. So I'm going to take a pass today and leave the squirrel alone. I think that's a sentiment that we'd all like to see more of in our lives. Just leave us alone and let us manage our lives as we seem fit. But you know how those damned power hungry megalomaniac types are. They like to poop in people's boots, just like Fat Freddie's cat.

Speaking of megalomaniacs. Are you all getting as tired of this Klaus Schwab character as much as I am? Just who the hell does he think he is? (See what I did there)? Does he really think he can rule the world? Does he really think he can tamp down human spirit? Good luck with that Dr. Evil.

I wonder what Klaus dreams about at night?
