The Reports of c99's Death Have Been Greatly Exaggerated

We're back.

I went to bed last Friday evening and awoke Saturday morning to c99 being not only down, but gone. After doing everything I could to bring it back I made the determination that the problem was server side. It was out of my hands.

So I called our web host. The initial respondent tried a couple of things to no avail, so she gave me a service ticket and then told me it would take 24-48 hours for a tech to take a look at the problem. 24-48 hours, WTF! So I waited for the 48 hour time frame, which was Monday, and still no c99. So I called again and was reassured that they were working on it. Finally yesterday (Tuesday) the front page came back, but only the front page and nothing worked on the site. So I contacted then again last night. This morning I awoke to c99 back on line.

To say the least I am not a happy camper about what happened. The 24-48 hour wait, which turned out to be much longer, is unacceptable. I will be shopping for a new web host.

Anyway, welcome back.

Album of the Week - 11-19-22

Afternoon folks!

Surprise! More great blues this week with Champion Jack Dupree (and Mickey Baker on guitar) as well as a nice of compilation of older blues tunes, many by obscure artists worth a listen. There's a solo acoustic album from John Hammond, The Butterfield Blues Band's East-West album and a more or less straight up rock album by Dr. Feelgood. There's also an interesting album from Geoff and Maria Muldaur, a Steeleye Span album and a David Bromberg album to boot.

Enjoy!

Friday Night Photos The Lakes Edition

Happy Friday everyone. Post whatever photos, memes or music your little heart desires.

Since I do a lot of my bird photography at Santee Lakes Recreation Preserve and it's only a 15 minute walk from my house I thought a tour would be nice. The preserve has seven small lakes they stock with fish, campgrounds for campers, rental cabins on the water, playgrounds for the kids and two pavilions for live music on holiday weekends.

Open Thread - 11-18-22 - And You May Ask Yourself

"Well, how did I get here?"

I was looking for answers. The Bush II administration was in the full process of changing the world as we knew it. I shouldn't have to revisit those years, I'm sure you all remember it vividly. I couldn't believe what was happening in and to the world as those lunkheads made history.

I was surfing the web. I don't remember how I stumbled upon it or what the article was about, but I had taken my first bite of the acidic orange blog, Daily Kos, around or about 2003. It made sense to me then, what the writers were saying about the strange new world that the neocons had concocted for us all. I read there every day from that point on.

Many a diary I agreed with, some I did not. I found the comments interesting and many times appalling. At times I would cheer internally at the truth to power some of the authors laid down. Other times I would cuss and spit at my monitor over the vitriol of some of the yahoo-ic numskulls that had the absurd temerity of laying their ill formed ideas to print. Again, I bet you all know exactly what I'm talking about. The site was enlightening and maddening at the same time. It didn't take long to develop a love/hate relationship with la naranja amarga.
