This is a brief outline of what happened in the United States during a global election cycle that was driven by a pent-up demand for profound political change.

Bernie Sanders did not have a complete plan when he announced his run for the Presidency in 2015. Along the way, he set in motion many disparate things that were already struggling to take form. As they coalesced, the election gameboard changed. Thus, the strategies changed, and for Bernie, the goals changed, as well.

I just found out today that my former online writing coach and a dear friend was assaulted last week in Waukesha, Wisconsin, where she lives. Her crime? Being a woman and walking her dogs in the afternoon on the sidewalk: Here's her Facebook post describing the "incident" that I consider a hate crime.

It's interesting to hear moderates and even liberals mimic many of the same talking points as right-wing conservatives when the subject of the United Nations is broached.
Meanwhile, NATO continues to grow and expand despite its original purpose having long ago expired, and few bother to question why.

It seems obvious that one organization is getting the short-end of the stick, and I'd like to set the record straight.

I've been reading about this for a few days in various locations, then I ran across this essay by Bob Henson at Weather Underground that covers most of it. Lots of images and links, well worth a read.

It isn't just the United States. The entire global bond market was rocked by Trump's victory.

For years and years I've been 'out' about my Danish ancestry (grandson of an immigrant, the rest mostly German/English as befits someone born in Michigan) because I thought being a Pirate was pretty cool (Arrgh) and I don't want to defend the fact that I'm whiter than white, though following the "one drop" principle I'm no better than a no-maj muggle mud blood.

In fact most Danes aren't pure Saxons as the country itself is mostly a great flat muddy spot good for cows, milk, and butter at the mouth of the Baltic (deserving of the name Sea because it is saltier than Baikal or the Great Lakes) that has been contested by Scandinavians and Germans for millennia.
