A book seller is a generalist, so I know a little about a lot of things, and a lot about just a few things - one of which is the political economy of America's founding. Yes, there is a difference between republicanism and capitalism, and one great tragedy of American history is the gradual shift from the former to the latter. The crash of 2007-2008 smashed my book sales, and I was looking forward to a meager Social Security check in a few more years as a major addition and stabilization of my income.
