The Assignment
This weeks assignment is a simple seasonal one with a catch. Photograph either an outdoor flower or a plant. Now for the catch. The final image or images should be black and white. Note that sepia or any other toning is fine.
I've written before about my daughter and I, and the undue influence she exerted over my decision to support and vote for Bernie Sanders. In all honesty, though, I probably would have come around to voting for him anyway, but she did speed up the process.
I had to send some of my guys with the cauliflower ears and bent noses over to Cirque du Soleil yesterday to put the kibosh on their plans to present Ovo in Greensboro, NC from April 20 to April 24 and Charlotte July-6-10 and Turok in Raleigh in June.
But let's face it, such highbrow entertainment was too gay for North Carolina anyway.
State and federal officials said on Monday that Goldman Sachs would pay $5.1 billion to settle accusations of wrongdoing before the financial crisis.
But that is just on paper. Buried in the fine print are provisions that allow Goldman to pay hundreds of millions of dollars less — perhaps as much as $1 billion less — than that headline figure. And that is before the tax benefits of the deal are included.
I'm not really suited for phone banking. No matter how many hours I put in, I feel awkward and stilted and I doubt that any call I have ever made has influenced a vote. I've done a little bit for Bernie's campaign, but it's so painful that I stopped.
Because New York has a closed primary, only voters enrolled in the Democratic Party can vote in the presidential primary, but ALL voters, including independents, can vote in this special election for the State Senate. But even if you can't vote for Bernie on Tuesday, there is a reason to go to the poll if live in New York's 9th State Senate District (Long Beach, Lynbrook, Rockville Centre, Cedarhurst, Valley Stream, Baldwin, Oceanside and other South Shore municipalities).
For all those beautiful people I have spoken with on the phonebanking this morning (and those I will speak with later today and tomorrow!!!) For those wonderful, smart folk who are going out EN MASS to canvas their neighbors and spread the word about the best candidate that has run for the Democratic party nomination in almost 100 years!
I just checked my state's rules to write in Bernie if Shrillary somehow manages to pick up the presidential nomination instead of him.
