Crucial special election in NY on the South Shore of Nassau County, Long Island
Because New York has a closed primary, only voters enrolled in the Democratic Party can vote in the presidential primary, but ALL voters, including independents, can vote in this special election for the State Senate. But even if you can't vote for Bernie on Tuesday, there is a reason to go to the poll if live in New York's 9th State Senate District (Long Beach, Lynbrook, Rockville Centre, Cedarhurst, Valley Stream, Baldwin, Oceanside and other South Shore municipalities). If we can elect Todd Kaminsky to fill the seat vacated by Dean Skelos, who is being sentenced for corruption later this month, we can begin to wrest control of the New York State Senate away from the Republicans. This election is separate from the primary, so if you are voting in the primary, you will have to go to two desks and fill out two ballots. Vote for Kaminsky BEFORE voting in primary election.
