Ukraine: This time we mean it

OK. Sure. We've been telling you for more than a month that Ukraine is launching a counter-offensive around Kherson, and, well, there hasn't actually been a counter-offensive.
But we mean it this time!

Ukraine says long-anticipated southern offensive has begun

Ukraine says it has begun counter-offensive to retake Russian-held south

(Reuters) - The Ukrainian military on Monday started a long-awaited counter-offensive against Russian forces in the country's south, its southern command said on Monday.

Command spokesperson Natalia Humeniuk confirmed the offensive in a news briefing and said it included the Kherson region.
...
Russia's forces in the south are "rather powerful" and have been built up over a long time, she told the briefing.

"The counter-offensive is already ongoing for a while (in the sense of) exhausting the enemy and not giving him an opportunity to advance," Humeniuk told public broadcaster Suspilne, adding that the offensive phase of this had begun on Monday.

That's not what a counter-offensive means!

They added: “All the details will be available after the operation is fulfilled."
OK. So we have zero details for an operation that they've been lying about for over a month.

Ukraine announces offensive operations across the south

The Ukrainian military announced on Monday that it had launched offensive operations in multiple areas along the front line in the Kherson region in southern Ukraine, perhaps signaling the start of a broad and long anticipated counteroffensive aimed at retaking territory seized by Russia.

Perhaps?!?

It remained unclear if this was the start of the southern counteroffensive that Ukraine has telegraphed for months, or a continuation of strikes in the south that Ukraine has been carrying out for the last several weeks.

Junior Sgt. Dmytro Pysanka, a Ukrainian soldier stationed on the Kherson front, said “our offensive is ongoing.”

Ongoing?!? So this ongoing "offensive" doesn't necessarily mean marching forward?

The war in Ukraine has depleted American stocks of some types of ammunition and the Pentagon has been slow to replenish its arsenal, sparking concerns among U.S. officials that American military readiness could be jeopardized by the shortage.

has not got off to a good start.

Ukraine’s attempt at counter-offensive has failed – Russia

Kiev’s troops suffered great losses in a failed attack on Kherson ordered by President Zelensky, Moscow claims.

Ukraine’s much-heralded “counter-offensive” in Kherson has “failed miserably,” the Russian Defense Ministry said on Monday, listing the losses suffered by Kiev at the end of the day. Ukrainian forces attempted to attack in three directions on orders of President Vladimir Zelensky but made no gains, Moscow said.

Russian troops caused “great losses” to the Ukrainian attackers during the day’s battles, including 26 tanks, 23 armored fighting vehicles, nine more armored vehicles, two SU-25 ground-attack jets and more than 560 troops, the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement on Monday evening.

for those who were responsible for killing Daria Dugina. It appears that Daria Dugina was the intended target of the assassination.

Russian FSB Identified Second Ukrainian Citizen Who Took Part In Dugina’s Assassination

On August 29th, the Russian Security Service (FSB) claimed that the second member of the Ukrainian sabotage and terrorist group who took part in the assassination of Daria Dugina was identified.

On August 20, Daria Dugina, Russian journalist, philosopher and war correspondent, was killed in the Moscow region. The SUV she was driving exploded and burned down in the eyes of her father Alexander Dugin, the philosopher, considered to be the ideologist of the “Russian world” concept.

On August 22, the FSB blamed Ukrainian special services for the attack. The perpetrator of the crime was a 43-year-old citizen of Ukraine Natalia Vovk (née Shaban), who arrived in Russia on July 23 with her 12-year-old daughter. After the murder, Vovk and her daughter escaped to Estonia through the border in the Pskov region, the FSB said in a statement.

In less than a week, the FSB identified another Ukrainian citizen who, together with Natalia Vovk, was preparing the murder of Daria Dugina.
...
According to the FSB, Tsyganenko provided Vovk with fake car plates and documents in the name of a real citizen of Kazakhstan, Yulia Zaiko. In addition, he helped Vovk assemble an improvised explosive device in a garage they rented in the southwest of Moscow.

The video shared by the FSB shows Tsyganenko entering the territory of Russia, changing the plates to Natalia Vovk’s Mini Cooper, and also receiving new plate from the delivery service.

The FSB added that cameras documented that Natalia Vovk personally monitored Daria Dugina in the parking lot for guests of the Tradition festival. After making sure that Daria left the festival, the killer left it right behind her driving her Mini Cooper. Then, she remotely activated an improvised explosive device planted in Dugina’s car.

I went to a diary by Herr Field Marshal von Markos who is giving daily updates to the General Staff. The Ukrainians as always are winning against the drunken incompetent Russian army. The Ukrainian counter offensive is gaining kilometers by the minute.

His diaries pretend to be some sort of in depth military analysis but given what he and the synchopants write in comments, he is basically putting together a daily written version of Orwell's 'Two Minutes Hate' from the novel 1984. The shit he and his followers write about the Russians would be easily recognizable by Germans in the 1930s, or by certain "fellowship groups" in apartheid American South.

@MrWebster

I love the picture of the soldier digging a trench with a small army shovel alone and all by himself. There are 2 more diarrhea oops I mean diaries today saying that Ukraine is kicking Russia’s buttocks because the Russians are drunk and poorly trained and their equipment is old and keeps breaking down. And Ukraine will win by Xmas. However RT is reporting that the Ukraine offense has already crashed and burned. Plus 560 troops were killed and some people were civilians who got dragged to the front line without proper training. Sad.

Which AIPAC/MIC/pharma/bank bought politician are you going to vote for? Don’t be surprised when nothing changes.

@snoopydawg My favorite comment as I read was a guy pushing back against a NATO invasion of Ukraine as they could lead to nuclear war. Another poster insultingly said to grow a spine. The majority of comments support direct confrontation of American troops against Russians in Ukraine. That seems to be a growing segment of the democratic activist base if these are taken to be typical comments. Not one full time staff or commentator has said "let's talk peace.".

@MrWebster
is going to spin the failure of Ukraine's Kherson counteroffensive. So far, notices of the failure of the counteroffensive has been attributed to Russian propaganda and is not accepted by his acolytes. They are ecstatic for this vaunted progress by the Ukraine military after 6 months of losses.
