Trump throws Pence under the bus

It's time we stopped thinking of Trump as some evil genius.

President Donald Trump dragged Vice President Mike Pence into his growing impeachment scandal during a rambling press conference at the United Nations.
...Trump urged an investigation of his own vice president.

“And I think you should ask for VP Pence’s conversation, because he had a couple of conversations also,” Trump suggested.

He then said he would release the transcripts of Pence’s communications.

“But the word is that they’re going to ask for the first phone conversation. You can have it any time you need it. And also Mike Pence’s conversations, which were I think one or two of them,” Trump offered. “They were perfect. They were all perfect.”

This is not the words/actions of a stable genius.
I think Trump is having a mental meltdown like Biden is.

Even the WSJ admits that it looks like corruption.

This could end up being great for progressives.
Why? Because Trump will double-down on Biden's corruption.

In March 2016, Biden made one of his many trips to Ukraine and told the country's leaders that they had to get rid of the prosecutor if they wanted $1 billion in U.S. aid. Biden told the story last year at the Council on Foreign Relations:

"I said, 'You're not getting the [$1 billion]. I'm leaving in six hours. If the prosecutor is not fired, you're not getting the money.' Well, son of a b****. He got fired," Biden said.

That looks like corruption too.
The media is brushing it off, but it looks sketchy as Hell.

The best thing about these scandals is that they are easy to understand, and thus hard to spin.

We could be looking at the beginning of the end of both Trump and Biden.
Good riddance.
Hopefully Bernie will pick up those Biden voters.

@wokkamile it wasn't just one nat'l security staffer who listened in to the T-Z phone convo, but a dozen NS staffers.

Apparently after the conversation was over, senior WH officials (per cbs) realized that DT had stepped into political-personal territory, and then initiated the plan to essentially deep-six the transcript.

Trump aides sincerely believed that releasing [the call transcript] would put an end to the scandal that has engulfed the White House for the past two weeks. ... aides apparently believed that Trump would be exonerated because he didn’t specifically threaten to hold up aid to the country unless they did his bidding ... Republican lawmakers who got a sneak peek at the transcript similarly didn’t think it would be a problem ... Despite their confidence, however, support for impeachment proceedings only grew in the wake of the readout’s release.

@WoodsDweller

Democrats are in such a bubble of fantasy that they think "this time we're gonna get that wascally Twump for sure!!". Maybe they can get Meuller to come out of retirement and prepare Trump Derangement Report 2.0.

Other than the hard on the media gets from the GOT power struggle going on between the Dems and the Republicans to politically annihilate Trump, I don't see how this "investigation" is anything more than poltical-porn recreation sports.

Haven't watched it yet, but it should be good

@gjohnsit As usual, I wish JD would let his guest speak a little more and not lead him so much, but the big takeaway I got is they’re letting the word “though” do a lot of lifting. Way too much lifting, imho. Unless the Dems have something more substantial up their sleeves (I’m highly skeptical), looks like another serving of nothing burgers. Maté’s end statement really sums up this and the Democrats post2016.

Can you really oppose the current justice system, but oppose stopping lawlessness at the top?
