The people's good is the highest law.
~ Cicero ~

It occurs to me that many people are willing to violate basic human rights, common decency and humanity by dehumanizing and disparaging people for nothing more than their fate. Meanwhile the human herding into categories, and manipulation of the sheeple continues unabated. Can you feel the funkin' evil?

The law is the weapon of the wealthy. There is no interest in justice, only domination. Witness the zero sum view of the ruling class, who are now employees of the plutocrats 1.

I am not particularly optimistic about the future of humanity. We have entered and era of speech control 1 2 3. You don't think the boogie man about crime 1 2, and militarization of the police, or that the police followed their training indoctrination and stood idly by in Charlottesville are coincidences?

So funk social media, corporate news and the shills that do their bidding.

Have a great weekend!

I fear you might be on to something. We, the people, can be a lot of bother to tptb. No wonder they must dehumanize us - we won't go away or stop the noise. We keep demanding health care, well-paying jobs, housing, nutrition, and, perhaps, peace. We've tied their hands - they're doing everything they can think of to shut us down - what else can they do? Nuclear war?

Solar flares are wreaking havoc on earth - an 8.1 quake off the coast of Mexico. Take that, America!

Have a beautiful day and weekend, folks! Pleasantry

By this time, next week, I intend to be on my way to CO. I need to pick up supplies and want to ride through Rocky Mountain National Park.

Weather cooperating, I intend to use route 9 and/or 285 to Taos. I suppose the GPS will yield some ideas too.

Good morning Friday. Some funky fraud happening at Equifax. Nothing like starting a day with John Cleary Help Me Somebody. Thanks a lot. Keep going. Made bold my sarcastic lulz, I sincerely hope nobody here gets harmed by their shoddy security practices.

Equifax hack exposes 143 million Americans’ data

SAN FRANCISCO — Credit monitoring company Equifax has been hit by a high-tech heist that exposed the Social Security numbers and other sensitive information about 143 million Americans. Now the unwitting victims have to worry about the threat of having their identities stolen.

The Atlanta-based company, one of three major U.S. credit bureaus, said Thursday that "criminals" exploited a U.S. website application to access files between mid-May and July of this year.

The theft obtained consumers' names, Social Security numbers, birth dates, addresses and, in some cases, driver's license numbers. The purloined data can be enough for crooks to hijack the identities of people whose credentials were stolen through no fault of their own, potentially wreaking havoc on their lives.

Three month old notice, so they could cover their asses? Or what?

good luck

Hat tip to Naked Capitalism, links. It was just a coincidence:

Equifax says 3 top execs 'had no knowledge' of a massive security breach when they sold nearly $2 million in shares after the hack was discovered

@NCTim That rendition of the Gnarls Barkley tune, set in NOLA, is healing salve for my spirit. I lost my mind in Virgin Gorda, played the crazy tune over and over...now when I hear this, I remember the good crazy I found in the crescent city, so many moons ago.

East Central FL checking in. We are ready for Irma. Plan on taking a long walk today as a stress reducer. No telling what the storm will do as it is starting to turn west. I'm actually calm which is a welcome surprise. LOL. Been through plenty of hurricanes and tropical storms. We live in a FL cracker house which has been totally remodeled over the years. Hope all these climate change, yes dimwit FRightwingnuts, climate change caused wildfires, droughts, stronger hurricanes, more tornadoes...did I miss anything...will get our people off their apathetic arses and VOTE! Figured I'd add a classic funk tune for today.

Will check in next week's OT with a post-Irma summary. I'm avoiding any mention having to do with $hrill. the. Stupid. and her Pity Party. Take care and stay safe! Rec'd!!

Last week's event was very nice. About 300 vintage motorcycles.

I am planning to roll west, next week. The big bike is in the shop, shocks & tires. I should have it back Mon or Tue. Route probably depends on Irma, but I figure four days to Denver or Pueblo.

the increasing presence of robotics is finally causing some of tptb to think seriously about some sort of guaranteed minimum payment system. I was up to my ears so I just noted that such a headline and teaser lead can now exist in a putatively serious paper and moved on.

I'm in the "don't get your hopes up" school of thought on that, as on most other stuff, but there it is, it is allegedly now at least out there. I still think stepping away could be a powerful part of the solution, though there are legalities and legalisms to wrestly with. More later, in some column, I hope.
