I determined to be a grownup and buy white towels for my problematic pink+burgundy bathroom. And then had a major tea spill, which I blotted off the hall carpet [blue-green] with a white towel. Tea stains survived the first laundering. Stains were gone with a second bath in bleach.
Just another household hint!
