Caucus Critters: Moondae Moppets: A Belated Hoppy Labor Day!

As most of you know, on Labor Day the site crashed when Johnny tried something new, and it took him overnight to repair from the crash. Yikes! So we'll say goodbye to summer with Labor Day Caucus Critters one week late.

I thought to make sure your Labor Day is hoppy, I'd see how many hopping critters I could find.

We'z a diverse group!

But first, The Recommendations:

•Our intent is to create a safe place to relax and play; please use common sense and have fun.
•Share any and all pootie/woozle/furry/feathery/leathery photos or issues that you would like.
•When it comes to problems, we may just have someone with experience who can help.
•If you would like a pic from the posts, please ask the poster. He/she may have a copyright to those pics. Many thanks.
•We love critters, so any/all photos that encourage human violence against an animal will be frowned upon and considered out of bounds!

So of course there are kangaroos.

What about their fellow countrycritters? Do koalas hop?

Koala_Jump[1].jpg
Yes, koalas hop from branch to branch!

Then of course there are bunnies who hop, with and without competition.

Bunny Hop article-1346664713984-14cd146e000005dc-133796_636x444[1]_0.jpg
I just know I can win this!

Wait. One of these is not a bunny!

Bunnies and Pootie Black and White jane-burton-blue-dutch-rabbit-and-four-3-week-babies-and-black-and-white-kitten[1]_0.jpg

Close enough, I guess (especially about the 20 second mark!).

Did you know elephants can hop? Me neither!

Elephant Baby Hop BOmjV6KCEAEXNyh[1].jpg

In fact, all the photos I found looked so unreal that I'm not convinced they're not all Photoshopped. Elephants can, though, apparently make it over fences.

I'm free!!

Which is more than I can say for this adventurer:

cow jumping fence almost.jpg
You're a moon jumper, they said. A fence is a piece of cake, they said.

Although horses do just fine.

Horse jumps Stone Fence.jpg

Kind of surprising fences keep them in, isn't it?

Horses at Stone Fence_0.jpg

So who's the least likely hopper if not the elephant? Giraffe maybe? Too ungainly, right? Well no, not exactly:

I iz hoppy baby!

Sloth? Well yes, I couldn't find any photos of hopping sloths.

sloth_climbing_jaguar_rescue_center[1].jpg
Swinging is good enough for me!

So since it's the end of summer, let's turn to diving, which is kind of like hopping, or close enough.

Dog Diving_0.jpg
Dive!

Of course you have your dolphins:

And your whales:

And your seals:

We play in surf just like ew!

And even your polar bears:

Doesn't that look nice and cool?

And of course, the ever-popular synchronized diving giraffes!

[video:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QckMmkeAhyQ width:500]

OK, that one's totally fake, but so cute I had to end with it! Who knew giraffes could be so graceful?

Hoppy unofficial end of summer, critter lovers!!

Please Note: If you would like to be added to Caucus Critters Group Caucmail, please let me know! We will keep you informed when a diary goes up, when we need someone to fill in, or otherwise any Caucus Critters news.

I haven't figured out how to do action shots with my still camera yet, but it's Gigi, before she hopped onto Puppy, which is another cat that doesn't like 3 syllable names, who used to be called Morrison. But he followed my wife around the house like a puppy, and when he shakes his head, his ears make a flopping sound (not quite hopping...), like a puppy with long ears....

Here's Puppy, who facial expression almost never changes. I mean it's like this 99% of the time. It's like a permanent deer in the head lights kind of "I dunna know..."

And then of course there's the princess, Callie. gosh I think she is pushing 16 years old this year.

Sorry, no hopping at our house, well at least not on camera anyway. Gigi opens cabinets, doors, drinks from the toilet, hides in the back of the top self of the bedroom closet. I caught her the other day in the dryer! I had left the door open, with my clothes still in there, and took a important phone call and forgot about them. Next thing I know she's sticking her head sticking out of the dryer, crying like she wanting to be fed and has a expression that's like, "hey, WTF is my food?"

I love my Kitty Kritters!

(I'm still trying to get my head around a still camera. Got a video camera and I'm good....)

Was Puppy abused before you adopted her so maybe it's taking her a while to trust? She does look like she's not sure what you're going to do to her. Maybe she's just anticipating ambush by Gigi, LOL!

I often use my video camera with the pooties because it's difficult to catch the exact moment they're up to something. So I let the camera roll, then go back through and find the moment I want, pause it and take a screenshot of that video and crop as desired. Voila! Still photos!

Which AIPAC/MIC/pharma/bank bought politician are you going to vote for? Don’t be surprised when nothing changes.

BTW, how are the puppies? You haven't said much about them in a while. You're welcome to post photos here, of course!

Love the black and white cat hiding among the rabbits!
As for hopping, I remember when I saw my first kangaroo hopping across the road! It was pure magic.
Nice diary. Thanks!

that I was able to find a hopping pootie that resembled the one hiding among the bunnies!

That would be nifty. Visiting Australia and seeing all these "weird" animals in their natural habitat is on my bucket list.

Glad you enjoyed it!

I don't let my pooties outdoors, but they sure do love it when the windows can be open and they can catch every last breeze.

competition videos, and they really are quite amazing. I hope to get a Flemish Giant Rabbit (someday).

Here's a photo of one of them next to a Sheltie.
