Bernie Sanders requests rally on eve of DNC

Burlington Free Press

Bernie Sanders' presidential campaign has asked permission to hold a rally in Philadelphia on July 24, the eve of the Democratic National Convention.

The permit application for the event — which would involve an estimated 15,000 to 40,000 people in Franklin Delano Roosevelt Park — is one of ten applications filed with the Philadelphia mayor's office for pro-Sanders protests, marches and demonstrations during the convention.

The official Sanders campaign rally application is still pending.

Hmmm. 15,000 - 40,000. Guess they can't say because it depends on how many show up. If they can get the word out, I would guess it will be closer to the 40. Should be interesting.

harder to turn down than others. It should also put the kibosh on police shenanigans. Kind of hard to attack the secret service. I rather envy those who will be there for it as it is rather historical.

For those of you who will be there, you are carrying the banner for those of us who cannot be.

This is a brilliant move on Sanders part. Forget street protests. Anymore, street protest are a spectacle that captures little attention -- even when the police are beating people up, they have become all too commonplace.

A rally is a stationary march if it is sizable enough.

what he's got up his sleeve now.

The thing about Sanders that seems strange to me (but I'm strange so take it with a grain of salt) is that he only makes statements like saying he would/most likely would vote for Clinton when he's being backed into a corner in an interview. His rallies have been the total opposite. He's always openly defiant and on message at his rallies. So I don't understand what's going on at all. So now I'm wondering what's he up to now?

Two centuries of fighting for workers rights and its the same bullshit response from the Democrats. The good news is that worker's parties have their platforms eventually swallowed by the Democrats. The only way to get anything done is grab a scary portion of the vote and engage in street protests and strikes.

maybe it's about time to talk about how important it is to beat Clinton. Seriously, if he endorses Clinton he makes a mockery of his campaign and everyone who participated.
