12/4 is National Cookie Day
Remember when cookies were supposed to be edible? Then they were insidiously injected into ones computer, to be susses out and destroyed, or allowed if it seemed like they would be beneficial. They became more common and more openly spewed and software was built to control them. Now they're out of control completely, you find a new site and load it to see if it has worthwhile content and a non-removable pop-up blocks all of the content until you agree to accept all cookies, without knowing what they are and whether the site is worth shit in the first place. If you have a lot of time to waste on obfuscatory bullshit, you can usually opt to view a selection of vaguely described putative categories or types of cookies to select from all of which are provided solely to make your life better and more enjoyable, improving everything from your browser performance to your love life, skin tone, and digestive health. PFAH!
It is also Cabernet Franc Day, a wine varietal long used to give Merlot based blends a hint of character, body, and substance, but more and more often also being bottled as a stand alone varietal. Give it a try.
Lastly, it is Wildlife Conservation Day. As if. Even the government (USDA) spends a hundred million or so per year on killing some 100,000 carnivores from eagles to bears, wolves, and the like ostensibly to protect cows and sheep and the like, especially those grazing on public lands. So, you can send a few bucks to a variety of outfits trying to slightly postpone the extinction of orangutans and aye-ayes, but forget about "pests", from grizzlies to groundhogs.
Oh yes, on this day in 1964, cops arrested over 800 students at the University of California, Berkeley, during a sit-in at the admin building protesting the UC Regents' decision to forbid political activity and speech on UC property. The students eventually won.

Happy cookie day!
Have been trying to restrict the computer consumption of nefarious 'cookies' for years.
If not for Ccleaner and the like, the slim profile of the laptop would be pretty fat.
Said cookies have never proven themselves to improve any kind of experience.
Thanks for the Zappa doing Bolero. A real hoot.
Such a rich historical and musical OT.

Hey, El!
I waited on The Bolero until I got home, had a beer, figuring I would need it to fully appreciate Zappa.
I did.
I oftentimes have no time to prepare myself breakfast. I keep a pack of white chocolate Macadamia nut cookies from the local bakery. I hear Macadamia nuts are very nutritious.
Ok. I am bad.
Thanks for the OT, friend!

Ah, bolero and beer, great combo. Cookies for
breakfast I can get along with.

la da da la da da..
Hi all, Hey EL! Hope it's all good out there!
Repeated extreme drought have us fairly depauperate of birds lately. No fruit, berry, or nut crops.
Great stack of songs man! That Phil Ochs is awesome. The Dead, Zappa, great sheet mon. Tommy Bolin sent me an hour down that rabbit hole before I was able to stop the wild ride... thanks! Have his first two, Teaser and Private Eye on cassette. He was an amazing songwriter and guitarist. What a tragic early loss...
Yeah wildlife conservation is great, where you can find those micro-successes. For a while anyway, as the macro melts down. Only took 28 COPS to go full frontal attack on its principles. Surprised they don't have a couple carbon capture magic bs bullets to sell...
Seems there needs to be an app, called 'cookie jar' of course, wherein all cookies fall for inspection prior to full access. It makes them show loaded, but you empty at end of day, and they are qt'd so never 'get' anything. I prefer edible cookies, have been monster level at times, and was hoping for some good recipes here... My nana's (great grandma) no bake (boiled) Oatmeal, chocolate, peanut butter, coconut, are the best.
Thanks for the OT EL!

Hi dystopian
White Brownies. The title of the recipe sounds ironically racist, but I think any colour individual would enjoy it.
I’m not much of a cookie monster, but I remember loving these brownies, a favourite of all, compliments of my mother in law.
Even though very white, the flavour is colourful.
Also known as "Blondies"
especially if made with brown sugar.
There is no justice. There can be no peace.
blonde brownie?
mrs d makes an I think similar thing, 'blonde brownie' she calls them... will try this...
merci beaucoup!
