May Day--a return of Bernie's Momentum

Bernie's win in Indiana has added strength to my resolve to continue actively supporting him, not that I would have stopped anyway. Yet the thought that the Democratic establishment still continues to support the venal Clinton whose amoral, and often illegal policies, are a disgrace to the boy politic. Yes, Trump's public rhetoric is horrific--an out-and-out Fascist. But it is Hillary's not-so-hidden corporatism/militarism (i.e., Fascism) which is every bit as horrendous. She has merely been able, until quite recently to keep this under cover.

The momentum Bernie has reacquired should, and probably does, give the Democratic establishment pause for reassessment. Bernie keeps on rolling, with margins in double digits of HRC recently, although unfortunately not large enough to erase her pledged delegate lead. I am encouraged by his pledge to take his campaign to the Convention and continue to uphold his unabashed Progressive program.

Yet I am dismayed by those too blind or unwilling to perceive HRC's pervasive duplicity. They will stick by her to the end. That "end" at this point has many possibilities.
1. She could win the Democratic nomination at the convention, yielding a dichotomous result: Clinton victory versus Trump Victory.
2. Bernie could actually convince enough super delegates to relinquish their subservience to the Clinton machine in order to support him. One factor in this hoped for switch of allegiance could be, of all things, his perceived enhanced "electability" due to Clinton's growing unfavorable ratings. Another, although less likely factor driving such reversal of support, could the very momentum Bernie's campaign continues to manifest.
3. Indictment of Hillary and/or her aides by the DOJ due to her email scandal. (Don't anticipate any action by the FBI/DOJ in 2016 regarding the collusion/corruption issues of the Clinton Global Initiative, due to the immense number of documents to be read, digested, and archived (estimated at this time to be greater than 100,000)--far more than involved in the email fiasco.

Another possible advantage weighing on Bernie's behalf is that Clinton will have a two-front war to face. Coming at her from the Left is of course, Bernie. Simultaneously, now that he has the Republican nomination almost certainly locked up, is Donald Trump from the Right.

Unlike Bernie who has abrogated any personal attacks on the Medusa in the lead for this party's coronation, Mr. Trump will have absolutely no compunction about "civility". Hillary has so many targets on her she is like a walking political shooting range. Once the Republicans devote their full attention to the Medusa, which they are not yet doing because of necessity to reunite their party due to the fractiousness of their own primary, she will feel the heat--and the TONE! The Republicans WILL unite during their convention because there is one thing that all Republican can and do agree upon--hatred for Hillary.

Hillary has now self-inflicted another wound, an unforced error which shall not go unnoticed by both Progressives and Repressives: appealing to Jeb Bush donors for money. This supplication can only mean one or both of two things: she has spent so much money on fighting a battle so much more costly than she originally contemplated that her donors are tapped out. The second possibility is that she has no shame (as if there was any doubt) in beseeching Republicans for money. No matter how much she and her acolytes may spin this, no act can further induce the perception that she is not only a DINO but a center-right Republican.

The upshot off this blatant pandering to Republicans will be vicious attacks, rightfully earned, by Bernie supporters not officially related to his campaign. Bernie of course will probably take public notice of her latest duplicity, but will do so in a way as not to betray his profound decency. Many Bernie supporters have criticized him for being "too easy" on Hillary regarding the email scandal.

Really, how much can Democrats stomach of this outright greed, mendacity, and prevarication of the woman who wishes to move back into the White House? Sadly, I doubt that this latest Clintonian ploy will dissuade her supporters from her cause.

In the meanwhile, between now and the national convention in July, let us hope that Bernie's momentum continues to grow. Don't overlook, also, that the longer Bernie stays in the race, the more likely it becomes for down-ticket candidates to openly espouse his policies, abandoning establishment corruption.

You might find interesting an article over at Politico, though on a slightly different topic, it kinda' reflects that the party, and the populace, are moving on, past Clinton, past the "abused spouse/Stockholm Syndrome" phase:

Did Donald Trump Just Hand the Senate to Elizabeth Warren?

Progressives are sad she didn’t run for president. But she’s playing a long game no one is talking about.

For Elizabeth Warren, maybe not running for president wasn’t such a bad idea after all. ...

Warren’s influence is twofold. First and foremost, she’s the undisputed queen of the party’s message: Warren-esque liberalism has become the de facto tongue for most of the party’s Senate candidates, regardless of gender—just as her brand of economic populism has dominated the Democratic presidential primaries. Warren’s passions— decreasing college debt, investing in research and regulating financial institutions—have become the party’s passions.

And since winning election to the Senate in 2012, Warren has emerged as her party’s most potent ally at the operational level. She’s described by veteran Democrats as a “rock star” fundraiser—filling the boot for individual candidates as well as for the powerful Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee.

is that the Senate controlled Republicans may threaten to impeach her right off the bat. There is enough baggage there that they might try to do it.

that they could, and very likely would, be successful.

I am quite certain that the ONLY way the Democratic Party remains viable in the future is if we change the corrupt direction it has headed under the DLC/3rd Way control and nominate Bernie to the Presidency.

By nominating Hillary and then losing the presidency to Trump despite all the obvious indications that she was a deeply flawed candidate the party will be shooting itself in the foot.

Progressives already feel betrayed by the party and even the moderate or uninformed Democrats may be pissed enough to join our New Progressive Party if they hand it to Trump because it will be obvious that the reason they did so is that 3rd wayers are more concerned about maintaining control of the party than actually winning elections...

but they probably can't bring articles of impeachment on Day One. IIRC, an impeachment must be for an act committed while in office. While in office, she could be charged for a crime committed before she was sworn in. She would have immunity, but only until she's no longer POTUS. When she leaves office, the prosecution could proceed.

and a rather more chilling one, considering what her policies could lead to:

but it's all about stuff that's already happening now, promoted by politicians who are already in office. What's horrifying is Trump's honesty. Clinton, on the other hand, can be magically assumed to have "liberal" positions even though she's rapidly pivoting rightward as we speak.

Clinton Cognitive Dissonance Syndrome as exemplified by this sentence:

Sadly, I doubt that this latest Clintonian ploy will dissuade her supporters from her cause.

The mind boggles that they cannot see how much better a choice Bernie would be over her. If, and it's a BIG IF, she attains the presidency, it will be non-stop investigations, impeachment hearings, obstruction ad naseum for 4 or 8 years. We do not have the time for this. Climate change is going to bring the hammer down hard very soon and we are doing squat to combat it.
