Friday Night Photos Pinniped Edition

I made my annual winter pilgrimage to La Jolla Cove last Saturday morning to photograph the marine life and the surfers. It was a beautiful warm sunny day. The number of critters hanging out at the cove varies from year to year. This year the numbers were about half of what's there in a good year. The only disappointment on the day was there was some good size, well formed waves and not a single surfer.
Tonight I have the pinnipeds. Next Friday will be the sea and shore birds.

Another one in 100 year rain fell in Waikato, an area 80 miles from here, now in a state of emergency. It's so life changing for many there. Here we got 25mm of rain in a short period, but all is well.

I haven’t read Jacinda Ardern's autobiography, but went through the years of her as PM, from compassionate leader after the Mosque killings, to leader of extreme lockdown during the covid years. I’m pretty sure the book, as with autobiographies of other politicians of equal standing, is autobiographically skewed. I experienced her in very different ways, some admirable, and some objectionable.

Speaking of rain, ECFL needs all it can get. Even with this being the dry season, we need sky moisture. Still looking at the damage done by the (usually rare) hard freeze. I'm partial to this one little palm tree in the front yard. Fingers are x'ed it survived. I'll know soon enough. Rec'd!!
