Bombs Away

Open Thread Image.jpg

Trump is wasting lots of bombs hitting Yemen again and again...killing mainly civilians, many women and children. Israel is still bombing Gaza, Syria, and Lebanon...that is on our dime too. The European chihuahuas want to build more bombs and weapons so they can get in on the action... thinking that will save their economies. Those who object are being silenced one way or another. France eliminated Le Pen this week much like Romania eliminated their anti-war leading candidate. UK citizens are being arrested for retweeting memes that are unapproved by TPTB. Here in the US we deport those critical of the Gaza genocide without due process. Will they eventually target citizens critical of the Zionists? In some ways they already have. The tariff wars have begun, and how that evolves has yet to be seen. These stories and more below the fold...

Decline of Democracy
RFK Jr.: "The homes are all being built, bought, purchased by BlackRock, State Street, and Vanguard, these giant hedge funds that are coming in that already own 88% of the S&P 500. They own all the business, and now they're coming in and trying to turn us into a feudal aristocracy where the rich own the land and the and you can't have a middle class."

Do you see the pattern? Populist party leaders all over Western Civ getting undone by the law courts —Calin Georgescu in Romania, election cancelled; Jair Bolsonaro in Brazil, de-railed by President Lula’s stooge judges (with CIA help); Prime Minister Robert Fico of Slovakia shot-up with five bullets in May last year (survived miraculously); the Alternative-for-Deutschland Party de-platformed by the Scholz-Merz ruling junta; then, this week, Marine Le Pen, leading candidate (by far) for President of France, defenestrated on Mickey Mouse charges in the Paris court. And, of course, since 2015, Mr. Trump, hounded relentlessly, but not yet overthrown...
International lawfare is about the last remaining tool in the “Globalist” kit-bag for “color revolution,” which means regime change by underhanded means, election interference being the favorite device. The poster child, of course, was the US CIA / DOD State Department regime change operation in Ukraine, 2014, that ousted Russian-leaning elected President Viktor Yanukovych, eventually leading to the installation of coke-head Volodymyr Zelensky, and ultimately to the Ukraine War that has killed over a million people. These days, astroturf (i.e., fake) street revolution (e.g., Maidan in Kiev 2014) is out; lawfare is in.

(70 min) Martin Armstrong is the CEO of Armstrong Analytics and is renowned for his economic forecasting model, the Economic Confidence Model, which has notably predicted major market events. The EU isn’t preparing for war. It’s preparing for collapse.
They sanctioned Hungary for not funding Ukraine.
France jails opposition. Germany targets AfD.
They scream “democracy”—while crushing anyone who defends it.
This is about power, not peace.

(2 min) X post link

Europe’s elites—France, Germany, Britain—are trapped in a dangerous delusion: preparing for war with Russia out of desperation, not necessity. They see their system collapsing, their power slipping, and the middle class sinking into poverty. The crisis is no longer confined to the margins; now, the majority struggle to afford basic comforts while governments pour money into militarization instead of their people.
A storm is brewing—a clash between the ruling class and the 60-70% of Europeans pushed into deprivation, anger, and helplessness. With no solutions left, the elites cling to the oldest trick in the book: rally the masses behind a war, distract them with nationalism, and salvage their dying order.
But this is madness. War won’t fix their failures—it will only deepen the chaos. Europe isn’t on the brink of invasion; it’s on the brink of revolt. And if the elites keep pushing this suicidal path, the real explosion won’t come from foreign tanks—it will come from within.

Tariffs
I must admit I have no real understanding of tariffs. I'm going to take a wait and see approach.
One thing seems certain, the EU and UK will be hammered.

VON DER LEYEN ADMITS IT:
TRUMP’S TARIFFS BROKE THE GLOBALIST MACHINE
The President of the European Commission just conceded:
Trump’s economic policies have delivered a major blow to the global economy.
Their plans? Unraveled.
The global order? Shattered.
The “rules-based international system” wasn’t built for nations like America to put their people first. Trump flipped the script:
✔️ Tariffs on foreign exploitation
✔️ Manufacturing back home
✔️ Borders that mean something
Now the EU is panicking. Their carefully crafted plans are crumbling — and they know it.
They called it chaos. Turns out it was just sovereignty in action.

Liberation Day, the end of globalization (32 min)

The US imposition of “reciprocal” tariffs on EU exports has doomed the bloc’s economy, former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has said. This week, US President Donald Trump announced sweeping tariffs in an attempt to improve America’s balance of trade, accusing the country’s economic partners of exploiting access to its consumer market through protectionist policies and currency manipulation. Medvedev, now deputy chairman of the Russian Security Council, remarked on Thursday that while the move seriously disrupts global commerce, Russia will be largely unaffected, as its trade with the US is virtually nonexistent. “No need for knee-jerk reactions,” he posted on social media. “We should take a seat on the shore and wait for the enemy’s corpse to float by. In this case, the decaying corpse of the EU economy.”

Trump’s Trade Policies: A Fast Track to Economic Ruin (1.2 hours)

Aaron Maté and economist James K. Galbraith discuss what Trump hopes to accomplish with the tariffs and whether he’s likely to succeed.

(12 min) Stocks plunged on Thursday and then again on Friday as U.S. trading reacted to President Trump’s announcement of heavy tariffs on nearly every nation exporting products to the United States. Trump announced Wednesday he would impose a 10 percent tariff on all imports, with higher rates for key trading partners in response to what the White House considers unfair trade practices. Tariff rates ranged from 20 percent for European Union products to a total tariff of 54 percent on Chinese goods.

They continue in this clip.
Trump’s BANANAS Approach To Launching New Tariffs! w/ James K. Galbraith
(11 min) Since the announcement of Donald Trump’s “Liberation Day” tariffs, much attention has been focused on the curious method used to determine the tariffs levied on goods from different countries. Economists, in fact, have been widely shocked at the slapdash and borderline incoherent approach the Trump administration has taken to calculating tariffs. Aaron Maté and economist James K. Galbraith discuss the tariffs’ impact and why the era of low priced consumer goods may be over.

“We Need To Trust Trump To Run The Global Economy!” w/ James K. Galbraith
(7 min) Post “Liberation Day,” when confronted with a collapsing stock market, the risk of dramatic price rises and the inexplicable decision making process behind the Trump tariffs, administration defenders like Treasury Secretary Howard Lutnick and Fox News host Jeanine Pirro have been falling back on the same argument: we just have to trust Trump. Aaron Maté and economist James K. Galbraith discuss whether it’s a good idea to place the global economy’s future entirely in faith in one individual, especially if that individual is Donald Trump.

This is an interesting analysis...
Tariffs are not the story!
Since Trump took office in Jan 2025, the 10-year yield has dropped from 4.79% to 4.17%. Look how much it’s dropped today!
That 0.62% drop may not sound like much—until you realize the U.S. has $36.5 trillion in debt.
This is stealth refinancing on a historic scale.
Lower yields = trillions in interest savings.
More breathing room. Less inflationary pressure.
And the market is front-running it.
Everyone’s watching tariffs.
But this yield curve shift?
It’s the real game.
Trump isn’t just cutting spending—
he’s restructuring America’s balance sheet in real time.

In my article, “The High Price of War with Iran: $10 Gas and the Collapse of the U.S. Economy,” I reminded readers of how Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has been behind the push for America to destroy Iraq, Libya, Syria and now Iran. I reviewed the severe economic consequences for the U.S. if it attacks Iran. Today, I cite the human health and atmospheric effects of a U.S. attack on Iran’s nuclear research facilities. The resulting nuclear fallout would bring a catastrophe unprecedented in human history. Last week, President Trump said “very bad things are going to happen” to Iran, if that nation’s leaders do not sign a new nuclear deal. The President is right. He can make very bad things can happen to Iran.
But Iran is not the only country to which “bad things” are going to happen if Iran’s nuclear research infrastructure is destroyed by the U.S., as is revealed by a careful study of the spread of radiation created by the promised bombings. America has been Netanyahu’s pawn for decades. Will the wealth, lives and security of our nation be sacrificed yet further to an agenda which brings only debt to our nation and death to innocents abroad? The return of Donald Trump to the White House for a second term has enabled Netanyahu’s right-wing party to accelerate the pulverization of Gaza, expand settlements and to repel the Houthis pro-Gaza attacks on Red Sea shipping. Netanyahu viewed Trump’s first election in 2016 as a new opportunity to topple Iran’s leadership. Trump, in partnership with Netanyahu, withdrew the U.S. from a multi-lateral agreement which limited Iran’s nuclear development in exchange for sanctions relief.

Yemen and Iran...
Unconquerable Yemen (Pepe Escobar)
It’s hardly an accident that the upstart, tawdry, bling bling Wahhabis of Saudi Arabia hate Yemen with a vengeance. War on Yemen, virtually for decades, as Prof. bin Habtoor noted in our meeting, has been the Enterprise Weapon of Choice for a family scam set up by the British Empire in the 1920s to extract the wealth of Arabia Obviously no one across the – now fractured – collective West remembers that Yemen later became “Crown Prince” MbS’s war. The existence of his regime – now a darling of Trump 2.0 – was leveraged from the start on winning this war, until MbS was forced to realize he could never make it: only in 2017 the war was costing him more than $300 billion. He had to accept an armistice.
No “victory”: not against these unconquerable heroes. The memory-impaired, fractured collective West also has no recollection that Britannia Rules the Waves was forced to surrender its self-imagined global dominatrix role to the Americans after it could not subdue extremely fierce resistance in – where else – South Yemen in the 1960s. That opened the way to Saudi-led dementia – even as the pattern remained the same: Yemenis simply won’t surrender their homeland’s fabulous natural wealth to subsidize the Empire of Chaos, Lies and Plunder’s chronic need for liquidity, collateral for new cash manipulations, and most of all the commodities that lie under Yemen’s rich soil.

At least 16 dead in flooding and tornadoes as storms slash US South and Midwest

The 16 reported deaths since the start of the storms included 10 in Tennessee alone.
A 57-year-old man died Friday evening after getting out of a car that washed off a road in West Plains, Missouri. Flooding killed two people in Kentucky including a 9-year-old boy swept away that same day on his way to school and a 74-year-old whose body was found Saturday inside a fully submerged vehicle in Nelson County, authorities said.
Also Saturday, a 5-year-old died at a home in Little Rock, Arkansas, in a weather-related incident, according to police.
...
Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg said Saturday that the Ohio River rose 5 feet (about 1.5 meters) in 24 hours and would continue to swell for days.
“We expect this to be one of the top 10 flooding events in Louisville history,” he said.

For decades, “free trade” deals like NAFTA locked in rules written by and for multinational corporations: rules that made offshoring easier, gutted environmental protections, and prioritized investor rights over worker rights. Stagnant wages, emptied factory towns, and rising income inequality have caused widespread pain and frustration among working Americans — which Trump has weaponized again and again.

Pair this “concept of a plan” with the rest of his agenda: gutting investment in vital sectors such as biomedical research, support for basic science and clean and affordable energy technologies and products; slashing all efforts to combat child labor and other egregious labor rights violations around the world, providing tax cuts for billionaires and corporations; stripping away health care, food support and other vital services for the most vulnerable Americans, undermining Social Security, and decertifying and undermining the power of labor unions.

It’s clear working people will not be the winners here.

Lots of good comments worth reading.

Trump is bitching about how unfair trade deficits are, but remember during his 1st term he reworked NAFTA. And he can’t force companies to comeback unless he offers them huge incentives that would offset their costs to do so. Great discussion on this yesterday.

Bush 1 tried to pass NAFTA, but the dem base said no way. Then Clinton ran against it and then he got it passed. I see him as the worst D president because he totally screwed the working class. NAFTA, gutted welfare, the crime bill, the WTO and the worst was expanding NATO instead of ending it. And here we are 30 years later and the working class keeps losing to the parasite class. Next up more tax cuts for the parasites! Yippee! So much winning.

They suggest they are a colossal mistake...

Donald Trump's Trade War has begun with EVERY country in the world now being hit with tariffs from the US government. Trump is sticking true to his word and destroying globalization but what will this mean for the future of the US economy? In today's livestream we break down the truth about Trump's trade war, explain how this will NOT work in the long term and explain how many other countries around the world (like China) could benefit from this trade war.

Interesting comment from under the clip.
I believe this got nothing to do with punishing other countries or bringing manufacturing back to the US. My theory is this is about manipulating the stock market and make billions along the way. Short selling stock before the tariff announcement, make billions when the stock price dive after the tariff announcement. Later on purchase the shares at its lowest price, then announce a reduction or removal of tariff which will make the stock market bounce back.

I didn’t attend, because my assumption was that they were indeed largely intended as dem fundraisers. However, this guy’s claim that “they were all geofenced” does not come close to passing the smell test- there were far too many. Somebody did pay for the mailers, and the organization- no question. Said somebodies are also very careful to hide their identities from the casual punter. But the people I know who attended were most assuredly not paid.

The MAGA types appear to be completely unable to imagine how many people do not agree with them. Now, if this putative “resistance” could only be redirected towards something other than electing useless Democrats. If this turns out to be nothing more than a way to burn yet another billion in yet another Kamala loss, I’ll be sad, but not surprised. look at any of the vids yet, but two things popped into my mind while reading:

accusing the country’s economic partners of exploiting access to its consumer market through protectionist policies and currency manipulation.

The US has been and is forever accusing the ROW of currency manipulation, and that is pretty much simply an outright fraud. If a country lets its currency float and the currency markets peg peg it somewhere that US hucksters dislike, then we scream currency manipulation. If a country instead pegs its currency to the dollar, then, depending upon how things go at any given time this will be declared to be currency manipulation, but only off and on as the markets do their dance. To me, anybody who tosses that them about is an untrustworthy jackass. All it means is that the mighty US want's the foreign currency, at this particular time and place to be something it isn't, and that will change weekly or monthly or randomly depending upon things like the current balance of trade, libor, and shit like that.

This is stealth refinancing on a historic scale. Lower yields = trillions in interest savings. More breathing room. Less inflationary pressure.

Uh, the classic (bullshit) definition of inflation is that it is driven by increases in labor costs (not interest). Our ridiculous continual rise in the cost of everything is driven almost entirely by profit taking, gouging, and monopoly/oligopoly pricing. Speculation, arbitrage, and rentier markets are not too likely to be too greatly affacted by a drop in interest rates, in fact, that frees up more money for the financiers to play games with, possibly leading to even greater prices.

Both are just reactions that came to mind while reading, wouldn't bet on my version, but wouldn't bet against it either.

the capitalist economics theorists have blamed it all on labor and have defined it as being driven by wage increases. As a result, whatever happens to prices, it won't be inflation because it isn't being triggered by increasing labor costs. Perpetual price increases, between crashes, are simply what happens under capitalism.

of imported products, thereby driving inflation. The way I see labor involved happened years ago when we off shored our industries to save labor costs. The fallacy of the tariffs to my mind is that it would take years to re-industrialize here. Are we going to re-establish shoe factories...or TV and radio, etc. here? I doubt it. We could but I don't see it.

If y'all are Dylan fans have you caught "A Complete Unknown"? It streams on Hulu and Prime. We rented it on prime. Dylan songs from my youth have been floating through my mind ever since.

Enjoy your Sunday!

@Lookout Late July, there will be a 5 or 6 hr festival about 50 miles away that will feature Willie Nelson, Bob Dylan, and others. I want to see them one more, likely last, time.

"We'll know our disinformation program is complete when everything the American public believes is false." ---- William Casey, CIA Director, 1981

Thing is, for all that Trump is doing, it probably could have been a good thing. The bureaucracy as it ages becomes ossified, could be made more efficient and nimble, we could revisit trade deals that don't make sense years later when things change.

The big problem is that our government has not been responsive to the 99% of us, and if/when whoever wins the election that puts this all back together it probably won't be for our benefit, no matter how they Orange Satan it up. Unfortunately team red and team blue would be happy to open fire and jail us if we get too uppity and scare them. If scaring them is the only thing that works, maybe that's what has to happen.

Trump or the Dims. I've become more and more aware of the power of the Zionist in the mix. Mearsheimer always emphasizes the power of the lobby. Is the difference that Trump is anti- globalist and the Dim oligarchs are all globalists?

Thought this was a balanced look at the tariff/globalist issue.

It is 17 min but he makes reasonable points.
Will the tariffs work? Will Trump be able to reindustrialize America? How did the US wind up with a debt of 36 trillion dollars? Why is Globalization bad for America? Is it true that China and EU ripped the US off? These are some of the questions considered here.

How did the US wind up with a debt of 36 trillion dollars?

I read that the government borrows money from the federal reserve instead of just minting it since it has the authority to do. But boy those private bankers have made bunk.

...but we have to pay them interest to create dollars/debt.
Corbett piece is worth the read, but it is a bit long. Worth digesting in pieces anyway.
Century of Enslavement: The History of The Federal Reserve
...this is history as told by the victors: a revisionist vision in which the creation of a central bank to control the nation’s money supply is merely a boring historical footnote, about as important as the invention of the zipper or an early 20th century hula-hoop craze. The truth is that the story of the secret banking conclave that gave birth to that Federal Reserve Act is as exciting and dramatic as any Hollywood screenplay or detective novel yarn, and all the more remarkable for the fact that it is all true.

Income tax was created at the same time the Fed was established, 1913 if memory serves.

USAID - The Devil Incarnate

USAID has had, nearly since its very inception, a mandate for inflicting population control and eugenics on the third world. They are not discreet about this. It is right in their charter. Writing in the National Catholic Register, Michael Hichborn and Steven Mosher describe how the Foreign Assistance Act of 1961 put population control at the forefront of the agency’s mission:

We’ve long known that it has been a way for the CIA to commit regime change and to hide what it does from us. But now the lid has been blown off and we are seeing it exactly for what it is.

This is one thing that I approve of Trump doing. But it’s going to be hidden away in the state department so we need to keep exposing it.

did congress just refund USAID with the CR?

I bet some of the USAID NGO's are still funding things like the hands off protest, as well as foreign actions. It's hard to kill the zombies.

I'll give Elon and Trump credit for taking them out first. If they are serious, they have to go after the pentagon...talk about making enemies.

Sure ain't boring.

the largest one is the pentagon and their various tentacles
if the musket or trumpet really want to reduce bloat
that would be the biggest target, but can't go there?

Tariff some uninhabited islands. That's the ticket!

Cut the war budget in half, take the savings and invest
in US infrastructure - house the poor, feed the
malnourished, and address local issues. Maybe that may
be the beginning of the MAGA. Not Israel.

Starmer is a globalist poster boy. He may mouth words he doesn't mean, but the idea he denounces globalism is ludicrous in my opinion or at least disingenuous.

He deconstructs the NYT piece that admitted that Biden’s actions in helping Ukraine send long range missiles into Russia and how many of his own redlines he crossed risking nuclear war with Russia.

How many times did he deny that it was a proxy war?

Plus the piece shows that Trump is not serious about ending the war because he won’t admit that America and Americans were on the front line with the Ukrainians.
Instead he’s telling Putin that he must agree to a ceasefire and ignoring the countless times he’s been told what Russia’s demands are.

This also proves that we were behind the attack on civilians at the beach. From blowing up Nordstream to blowing up thousands of Russians Putin has absorbed every attack. Maybe if he hadn’t there wouldn’t have been so many. Tuff call.

Everyone involved in this caper should go to jail, forever, beginning with whatever person or persons deployed the autopen to bomb Russia to “shore up” the Ukraine project of Biden’s corpse. These people make Westmoreland and Clark Clifford seem like Einstein and Bohr.

I agree. But they would have to get in line because there are 6 other living presidents that should be arrested.

And remember that Biden, or whoever was pretending to be Biden kept sending billions to Ukraine instead of to Americans who got wiped out by fires and hurricanes.

Don't trust Starmer, Macron, or Merz as far as you can see them. Warmonges eveyone!

Now if more of We The People would understand that what’s needed is to focus, mobilize, and get the Israel lobby’s “hands off” Congress — and the Deep State, the White House, the federal budget, our free speech, you name it — then we might be getting somewhere.

Like you said, withdraw support for Israel plus Ukraine and NATO.
In one fell swoop these moves would reduce the creeping poverty
of our once 'great' nation. Bringing the troops home to re-develop
infrastructure may require retraining. Peace dividend.
