Actual Resistance

I can't get the link to work, but I have seen a blog that interviews several truck drivers organizing a general strike on October 1.
This is the first example of practical resistance that I have seen, as opposed to gloom and doom.
The blog piece does not mention the Teamsters Union, which tells me a lot. This is a true grass roots campaign.
A long way between blog posts and shutting down truck traffic.
A long shot is infinitely better than no shot.

Well, the many
owner-operator, independent truckers are seeing diesel prices climb uncontrollably, and they move a great deal of the freight in this country. There are many, and they could really make a mark if they were to organize. They have a lot of skin in the game.
This will be worth watching.

I hope this is real and happens.
I hear you about the Teamsters, they'd sell them out in a heart beat.
The problem I see is Trump's reaction if this does come to fruition. I still give it a 50/50 chance that Trump's real goal is to bring the country to its knees economically. I still haven't made up my mind on that one. If the truckers strike, and if that is indeed his real goal, then he's liable to let the strike proceed and bring the economy to a standstill, giving him some cover.
But, a trucker's strike would cause Trump to show his cards, one way or another, and then we'd know.
But, what the hell do I know, I'm just guessing.
If this happens,
and I hope it does, it will depend on the status of the recipients end of the supply chain. Mom and Pop businesses with empty shelves or warehouses, for example, have no power. But big chains, such as Walmart, or oil refineries needing parts and equipment, that would cause quite a stir. My guess is, however, they rely on Teamster Union contracts for products coming in or going out, not individual truckers.

Do you think the supporters of such an effort will eventually run into legal issues with antitrust laws?
Several years ago independent fisherman along Pacific Northwest coast were organizing an effort against what appeared to be price fixing by local canneries. When the legal details finally showed up in the news - the canneries had formal operating agreements and/or common ownership of multiple canneries so their price fixing was legal. The most vocal independent business owners were prosecuted by the Justice Department for antitrust laws regarding collusion for their efforts of trying to get better pricing for their shrimp.
Still yourself, deep water can absorb many disturbances with minimal reaction.
