Deep State Drama?

Open Thread Image.jpg

It is looking more and more to me like the Trump assassination attempt was an inside job by the uniparty deep state. Will Biden withdraw from the race? My guess is his crime family says, "No!", but we'll see. Will Russia wrap up the proxy war with Ukraine before the election? Will the BRICS+ create a new global parliament focused on the Global Majority? Will Orban manage an EU coup making Von der Lyin and the Brussels bureaucrats obsolete? Will Israel kill or expel all the Palestinians? Bibi has cancelled his trip to the US next week after a Houthi drone hit Tel Aviv. All this and more below the fold in this episode of, "As the Stomach Churns".

The Ballot or the Bullet

Saturday’s attempted assassination of President Trump killed one rallygoer, a father of two who died shielding his children from the assassin, and critically wounded two others. President Trump miraculously escaped with a slight wound in one ear, and in the photo of the century, he stood up from under the swarm of secret service agents, literally bloody but unbowed, raised his right hand in a fist, and mouthed, “Fight! Fight! Fight!” Some of Mr. Trump’s partisan critics attacked Mr. Trump’s “violent rhetoric.” Of course, none of them squawked when President Biden said on Monday before the attack that “we’re done talking about the debate, it’s time to put Trump in a bullseye.” We do not know, and may never know, whether the murderer perceived that he was simply following an order from his Commander in Chief. It is time to man up, stop blaming others, and figure out what we ourselves have done or not done that made this attack and the inciting rhetoric that led to it possible.

TPTB have been making Trump the object of hate for years now, from the Russiagate hoax to the Jan 6 insurrection to all the lawfare cases. Now, I'm no Trumpeteer, but I can see how he's been targeted.

Slowly, Then All at Once

...starting with collective helplessness in the drawn-out RussiaGate psychodrama, even when all the players and their many nefarious acts were exposed by the alt news media, and extending to the mendacious roguery of the two-year Mueller (Weissmann) Commission, followed by fifty-one former intel higher-ups labeling Hunter Biden’s laptop “Russian disinformation, followed by Rep. Adam Schiff’s Ukraine “whistleblower” prank featuring CIA/NSC/DOD/DOJ moles Eric Ciaramella, Colonel Vindman and IC Inspector General Michael Atkinson, and then the FBI-instigated J-6 riot with the ensuing faked-up House J-6 committee . . . plus you can throw in the stupid Ukraine war, the drag queens in the kindergartens, the bumbling Durham investigation, ten million unvetted illegal migrants flowing into the country and this year’s four show-trials put on to finally break Mr. Trump.

Only those with TDS can't see he has been a deep state target.

Most of the security personnel working at the Donald Trump rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, during which the Republican presidential candidate was shot, weren’t even Secret Service, US Senator Josh Hawley has claimed, citing whistleblowers. Shots fired from the roof of a nearby factory nicked Trump’s ear, killed one audience member, and injured two more before the sniper was taken out by law enforcement. “Whistleblowers tell me that MOST of Trump’s security detail working the event last Saturday were not even Secret Service,” Hawley, a Republican from Missouri, said on Friday, accusing the Department of Homeland Security of assigning “unprepared and inexperienced personnel” to the campaign rally.

The RNC Convention...
Regardless of the attempt (or as some friends of mine hypothesize, Hollywood stunt) Trump went to the RNC convention and sat in the hall for all the speeches and circus acts, announced the J.D. Vance Veep choice, called RFK jr, made a mediocre speech, but seemed to fire up the base.

Massive IT Outage Spotlights Major Vulnerabilities in the Global Information Ecosystem

The global information technology outage on July 19, 2024, that paralyzed organizations ranging from airlines to hospitals and even the delivery of uniforms for the Olympic Games represents a growing concern for cybersecurity professionals, businesses and governments.
The outage is emblematic of the way organizational networks, cloud computing services and the internet are interdependent, and the vulnerabilities this creates. In this case, a faulty automatic update to the widely used Falcon cybersecurity software from CrowdStrike caused PCs running Microsoft’s Windows operating system to crash. Unfortunately, many servers and PCs need to be fixed manually, and many of the affected organizations have thousands of them spread around the world.

Jimmy looks at CrowdStrikes CEO
CrowdStrike CEO Can’t Explain WORLDWIDE Internet Failure! (15 min)
Hospitals, banks, airports, airlines and broadcasters worldwide were impacted by a massive, ongoing IT outage Friday. Thousands of Windows PCs, which many companies and organizations rely on as part of their critical internet infrastructure, were hit by the CrowdStrike outage. Perhaps most concerning, several US states reported that their emergency 911 call centers were also hit.
The outage was blamed on a faulty update from cybersecurity company CrowdStrike. The company handles the security of many Windows PCs and services around the world. In a statement Friday morning, CrowdStrike said the issue had been "identified, isolated and a fix has been deployed."
Jimmy discusses the shameless TV interview given by casually attired CrowdStrike CEO George Kurtz, who refused to answer basic questions or take any responsibility for the global tech catastrophe his company caused.

Trump tells Zelensky he’ll end war

The US presidential candidate has vowed to “bring peace to the world”
Former US President and Republican candidate in the upcoming elections, Donald Trump, has reiterated his pledge to stop the conflict between Moscow and Kiev following his conversation with Ukraine’s Vladimir Zelensky on Friday. Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social that he “had a very good phone call” with Zelensky, during which the Ukrainian politician congratulated him on a “very successful” Republican National Convention and “condemned the heinous assassination attempt.” Trump went on to say that he appreciates Zelensky “for reaching out because I, as your next President of the United States, will bring peace to the world and end the war that has cost so many lives and devastated countless innocent families.” Both sides will be able to come together and negotiate a deal that ends the violence and paves a path forward to prosperity.”
Zelensky, in turn, claimed that he “agreed with President Trump to discuss at a personal meeting what steps can make peace fair and truly lasting.”

Biden Orders Poll On Harris’ Popularity

US President Joe Biden has commissioned a survey to get a clearer picture of Vice President Kamala Harris’ popularity, ABC News has reported, citing an anonymous senior administration official. The source reportedly told the outlet that despite putting on a brave face publicly, the 81-year-old Democrat has recently become more receptive to calls urging him to exit the presidential race ahead of the November 5 election. Questions as to whether Biden is fit for a second term have been overshadowing his campaign since he bungled a performance at last month’s CNN-hosted debate against Republican frontrunner Donald Trump. During the event, the incumbent repeatedly lost his train of thought, mixed up words and numbers, and struggled to finish his sentences. On Friday, ABC News quoted an unnamed White House staffer as saying that the “president is wiped and exhausted.”

Absolutely” In The Race: Biden Campaign Calls Malarkey On MSM Reports
On Thursday evening, the New York Times reported that ‘people close to Biden’ say the president has “begun to accept the idea that he may not be able to win in November and may have to drop out of the race. The Biden campaign swiftly answered – insisting that wasn’t true, while longtime Biden ally Sen. Chris Coons (D-DE) – whose daughter Biden sniffed – said that the president is still seeking ‘input’ from colleagues on what to do. On Friday, Biden campaign manager Jen O’Malley Dillon insisted on MSNBC’s ‘Morning Joe’ that the president is staying in the campaign against all odds. “He’s our nominee and he’s going to be our president for a second term,” she said, acknowledging that “this has been such a hard week,” but that Biden will be “back on the trail next week” after allegedly contracting COVID. “This is an organization built for the Biden-Harris ticket,” she continued.

Screenshot 2024-07-21 at 05-30-09 The Swap.png

The Washington Post reported on Thursday, citing three Democratic officials, that Former US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi told some House Democrats that she believes that Biden can soon be persuaded to drop out of the race amid serious doubts he can win the election. The media also reported that Pelosi’s aides declined to address her talks with her colleagues, dismissing the media “feeding frenzy” about her discussions with Biden. Numerous Democrats have called on Biden to end his campaign and step aside for an alternative nominee following a dismal debate performance against Trump last month. The Biden campaign has said that they are not planning for a scenario in which Biden is not the Democratic presidential candidate.

Dim donors are running an ad tomorrow on Morning Joe urging Biden to step down and pass the torch

If anything I bet he digs in deeper after the ad. We know why...
A potential withdrawal by US President Joe Biden from the 2024 election could lead to the prosecution of himself and that of his son Hunter, including for crimes conducted in Ukraine, US antiwar activist and Global Network Against Weapons and Nuclear Power in Space Coordinator Bruce Gagnon told Sputnik. “The Biden crime family likely worries if the current president is removed from the November ticket, he and his son could well be prosecuted for multiple crimes – particularly for their crimes in Ukraine,” Gagnon said. This might lead to Biden cutting a deal to get a pardon for himself and his son as a trade-off for stepping down, Gagnon said.

EU vs Orban

Sorry, We Want War: Why EU Elites Will Ignore Hungary’s Orban

Hungary, represented by its Prime Minister Viktor Orban, took over the rotating six-month presidency of the Council of the European Union in July 1, and promptly decided to do something unconventional: actual work. So out came the knives. Back in 2022, the most memorable thing that France’s Emmanuel Macron did while in the role was make a logo for his EU presidency that incorporated his own initials. The benefit to the French and European people was fantastic – as in, it exists in fantasy. For his EU presidency meeting in France, Macron stood alongside unelected European Commission bureaucracy president “Queen” Ursula von der Leyen, as they championed issues like climate change, digital transition, and the EU military industrial complex (er, the “EU Defence Union”). They were only too happy to serve up typical globalist fare for their fellow elites to gobble down. But these same folks are now gagging on Orban’s chosen agenda: peace.

Doctorow had a different take on the future of Orban and the EU (where he currently lives)

I like his idea of the path to peace focused on the Treaty of Westphalia.

Orban is not alone in urging peace...

Chas Freeman looks at the developing world order...

The World Is DONE With The West. Here's What's Next | Amb. Chas Freeman (29 min)
Here is his conclusion:
"In short, we are witnessing the end of a unified, Western-dominated global order and its replacement by a hodgepodge of collaborations and rivalries at the sub-global level. Something similar happened to cause the devastating chaos of the “Thirty Years’ War” in Europe. That was a disorder composed of warring states, much like the history of China before the Qin unification or India before Aśoka. But the “Thirty Years’ War” ended in the establishment in the Peace of Westphalia of a system of peaceful coexistence between multiple sovereign states that respected their cultural diversity. Its result is memorialized in the “five principles of peaceful coexistence.”
The question for your generation and the next in China, the West, and the rest of the world is whether we can replicate that outcome and end our descent into anarchy. We need to craft a peace based on mutual respect for each other’s territorial integrity and sovereignty, mutual non-aggression, mutual non-interference in each other’s internal affairs, tolerance, and equality and cooperation for mutual benefit. If we cannot not do this, we risk more than our prosperity. We risk our very existence."

Well friends that's about all the news I'll cover this busy week. I hope you'll chime in with stories I didn't cover, insights into those which are posted, or anything else that's on your mind. It is a open thread...

@QMS

before I covered the Israel/Palestine conflict.

Bibi delayed his US trip because the Houthi drone hit Tel Aviv (about a block from the US embassy). So Israel bombed Yemen's main port, to which they responded by hitting a US cargo ship and sending a missile barrage into Israel. Doesn't look good for peace.

At least the ICJ rules against Zionist occupation ...
ICJ: Israeli Presence, Settlements in Occupied Palestine ‘Unlawful’

I saw something about Speaker Johnson saying he will arrest anyone protesting Bibi in congress. Easy to see his loyalty is to the Zionist not the 1st amendment.

Glad you got back on the intertubes. Hope y'all are having nice weather. Thanks for the visit!

I really liked Doctorow on Westphalia. It would be good to see suc a world return, but it seems unlikely unless the US really crashes and burns. We re too devoted to ideologies and to the idea that we need to impose them on ROW. I figure that, if some miracle occurred and we stopped engaging in that behavior, it would take at least 3 to 5 generations for some semblance of rational normalcy to reassert itself.

https://apnews.com/article/biden-drops-out-2024-election-ddffde728383700...

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Joe Biden dropped out of the 2024 race for the White House on Sunday, ending his bid for reelection following a disastrous debate with Donald Trump that raised doubts about his fitness for office just four months before the election.

The decision comes after escalating pressure from Biden’s Democratic allies to step aside following the June 27 debate, in which the 81-year-old president trailed off, often gave nonsensical answers and failed to call out the former president’s many falsehoods.

Biden plans to serve out the remainder of his term in office, which ends at noon on Jan. 20, 2025.

“It has been the greatest honor of my life to serve as your President. And while it has been my intention to seek reelection, I believe it is in the best interest of my party and the country for me to stand down and to focus solely on fulfilling my duties as President for the remainder of my term,” Biden wrote in a letter posted to his X account.

He called him "president my boss." Last week Biden couldn’t remember Austin's name and called him "the black man." Well good thing he isn’t white. Smile

"You know that white man." Or you know the thing.

Democratic insiders picked Biden over Bernie and once again they are ignoring the voters and have forced Biden out and who knows what they will do at the convention. Do you think they have any confidence in Kamala who had to drop out last time because she got no delegates? I don’t think she’ll be the candidate either.

We just witnessed an oligarchy coup for the 3rd time. Hillary stole the promise from Bernie. Obama rigged the last primary so Bernie wouldn’t win and he’s been a good little sheep dawg supporting Biden to stay in. I wonder if he ever had a spine.

Good thing democrats are standing up for democracy. But this looks like all the countries America claims are not democracies.

Biden worked so hard to become president and now his party is throwing him out. I’d feed bad for Joe if I didn’t know his long history of screwing us. Instead I’ll enjoy his karmic comeuppance.

Minutes after announcing his decision to withdraw from the 2024 presidential race, President Joe Biden endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris to replace him as the Democratic nominee.

"My very first decision as the party nominee in 2020 was to pick Kamala Harris as my Vice President. And it's been the best decision I've made," Biden wrote. "Today I want to offer my full support and endorsement for Kamala to be the nominee of our party this year. Democrats — it's time to come together and beat Trump. Let's do this."

quants gamed out a VP Harris as nominee vs. POTUS Harris as the nominee. Either way she loses in November. Biden remaining in office is face saving for all those Democratic pols that endorsed Biden's renomination because it can be spun that Biden is still up to the job but it has now become clear that he's not up to the rigors of a reelection campaign.

Plus -- Clinton and others would have had a serious problem with an appointed first woman POTUS that wasn't Hillary.

As there is no solid Democratic bench with anyone on it that could have a chance to win in November, and open convention risks increasing party rancor. They'll all have to focus on Congressional elections and try to salvage as much as they can.

Just like the Democratic pols did during the 1972 presidential election. The difference is McGovern was pro-peace, pro-workers, and pro-New Deal. They got rid of all that and created the pro-war, anti-worker, and anti-New Deal party and still can't attract GOP voters. against that dreadful Adam shee
t that the bookies are probably offering great odds for those that bet on Garvey.

For a while, CA voters were satisfied with a progressive Republican in one seat and a progressive Democrat in the other. Then Johnson (GOP died) and the state ended up with a rabid warmongering Republican, Knowland, initially a Gov Earl Warren appointment. Five years later Downey (Dem) resigned due to ill hearth, and Nixon nabbed the seat. Two years later, Nixon moved on and Tom Kuchel (GOP) was appointed by Warren, but unlike Knowland and Nixon, he was a moderate to progressive. When Earl Warren moved on to the Supreme Court, his Lt Governor, Knight advanced to Governor. (There as jockeying for control of the CA GOP among Knowland, Nixon, and Knight.) In the 1958 'great switcheroo." Knowland ran for Governor and Knight ran for Knowland's Class 1 Senate seat. Both lost. Pat Brown winning as governor and Clair Engle (Dem) as the Class 1 Senator. Once again CA voters were satisfied with the line-up.

Tragedy struck in 1963 - Engle underwent surgery for a brain tumor. He withdrew from his reelection primary in April 1964. Salinger beat Cranston for the nomination (Kennedy Dem were strong on the CA Dem party). In July, Engle died. Pat Brown then made a political error. He appointed Salinger to the remainder of Engle's term. This was perceived as Brown putting a thumb on general election scale. So, they elected George Murphy by three percentage points in the year that Goldwater lost CA by nineteen percentage points.

Murphy lost to Tunney (Dem) six years later, and he in turn lost to S I Hayakawa who lost to Pete Wilson who did manage to get reelected in 1988 and then ran and won for Governor in 1990 against Diane Feinstein. Wilson's interim Senate appointee lost to Feinstein in the 1992 election. (Alan Crantson defeated Kuchel in 1968 and he served until 1992 when Boxer was elected to the open seat.)

On Feinstein's death, Gavin Newsom avoided the Pat Brown error by appointing a woman who wasn't running for the seat. Unfortunately, the CA Dem party already had its thumb on the scale for Adam Sheet. He's a particularly odious Dem party, loyal foot soldier. (The other two major candidates in the primary were weak for different reasons.) Leftie/progressive Democratic voters might want to consider opting out of voting in the Senate election.

A week old. I can't tell who the source is but Yoon and Kishida are at the bottom as Simone Chun says, both with 16 percent approval. I'v seen them do poorly for months now, so at least those numbers are in the ball park.

Japan's move here is fairly provocative.

I'm still perplexed about this Sue Mi Terry failure to register as a foreign agent violation. I didn't even realize she was married to Max Boot, so there's lot's of irony there. Frankly, I just assumed she was working for the CIA. 37 grand and a few designer bags, get real, that's chump change. Sounds like maybe technical violations. What she pushed was exactly what the US government wanted. If you look at her quotes in the article, this is standard pro-US, pro-Japan, boilerplate. They must have pissed someone off, they both have high public profiles and are very opinionated.

WaPo Columnist Max Boot Accused Trump Figures of Acting as Foreign Agents. Now, His Wife Is Accused

Boot was a leading proponent of the since-debunked theory that the Trump campaign colluded with Russia to influence the 2016 election. At the height of Russiagate, Boot asserted the Steele dossier, a salacious 35-page document that claimed Russia blackmailed Trump, was "credible" and had been largely "corroborated." Since then, the dossier has been almost entirely debunked, and its primary source indicted for lying to the FBI.

Boot has not been accused of breaking the law, but it remains to be seen if he violated journalistic ethics. The Post said it is "reviewing the indictment" and remains "committed to publishing independent journalism."

Boot wrote a number of Post columns with his wife, who prosecutors say coordinated with Korean officials on at least one of those articles. The piece, published on March 7, 2023, praised South Korean president Yoon Suk Yeol as a "profile in courage" for "taking a brave step toward resolving a long-festering, historical dispute with Japan."

According to prosecutors, Terry wrote "hope you liked the article" to her Korean government contact. "Thank you so much for your zeal and endeavors! Of course we do. Actually, Ambassador and National Security Advisor were so happy for your column," the official replied, according to prosecutors.

Thanks for the Weekly Watch, Lookout! Lots going on. I particularly liked the Ritter video.

More than I can cover for sure...
Cyrus had an interesting video today.

I stopped midway (~7 min) at his ad
BRICS just shocked the US Dollar with Russia and India launching a new payment system that will allow both countries to AVOID using the US Dollar in foreign trade. China is joining in the program as well and launched it's own payment system, along with a digital currency project and more countries around the world are moving away from the US Dollar. What's the latest updates with BRICS and Dedollarization around the world?

Hope all is well in FL. Weather has been nice and cool and wet here...a rare summer treat.

These young folks can really do covers. I'm a fair musician, but I can't hold a candle to these youngsters.

Let's face it Biden has been evil (and pretty dumb) throughout his career. I don't wish him ill in his dotage, but he sure has done ill for our nation.

Thanks for the X post!

another great WW!
I am almost done with the Chas Freeman video. I have great respect for him.
We can expect from political chaos from the democrats this week. I sort of enjoy seeing them explode.
I hope you have interesting projects ahead this week at the holler.
We will have lots of rain, but I only have to drive out of town to a trial once. Maybe on that day, the storms will happen while I am inside, and not on the highway.
Take care, dear friend, and many thanks for your efforts.

...underneath the video in the blue box I found really offensive-

Wikipedia • The New World Order is a term used in several conspiracy theories which hypothesize a secretly emerging totalitarian world government.

Chas Freeman is a brilliant scholar and diplomat. That's really presumptive and demeaning for youtube to do that. Like I need youtube to put his ideas in context of their bs "conspiracy theorist" frame.

I went over to his web site and started to read one of language presentations he gave to language teachers, on the connection between language and diplomacy. He's a very prescient and wise man.

The Mess in U.S.-China Relations

There are probably dozens of written presentations at his site like the one in the video. Very high quality.

speculation by pundits or insider rumor?

Regardless, it's a better than average choice. Not that it will help the ticket by much, but it doesn't squander a sitting Dem Senator and it could boost the Democrat in Arizona's open seat Senate election.

@Marie1
insider leak. I had the pleasure of meeting him and his wife on a flight to Houston. Gabby was headed to the Medical Center. He seemed nice, smart, but taking a step back, he is a party guy, probably just goes along to get along. Not sure what influence he may have, but he is a safe choice for the party structure.
My life will not improve in any way no matter who wins the election. My interest is peaked, my impetus to vote is really non-existent.
