Pan And Syrinx
Pan’s romantic pursuits often led to captivating tales, and his infatuation with the wood-nymph Syrinx is no exception. As Syrinx returned from a hunt, Pan’s advances forced her to flee. She ran from Mount Lycaeum, seeking refuge among her nymph sisters who, in a bid to protect her, transformed her into a reed. When the winds caressed these reeds, they produced a hauntingly beautiful melody. Unable to discern which reed was Syrinx, a heartbroken Pan fashioned an instrument from several reeds, creating the iconic pan flute. This instrument became synonymous with him, a constant reminder of his unrequited love.

good morning...
My question is will the EU and NATO survive? I doubt it.
Nice story/myth of the pan pipes.
I finished the winter mowing yesterday. I've got a little weed eating to finish up this morning.
We've had lovely weather..sunny and mid-60's.
Well thanks for the OT!

Good morning, QMS!
Well, I have done everything I possibly can to stay out of any local political election crap, but 2 peace officers running for office just happen to be my long-time clients. Yesterday, a hearing involving the two peace officers went very public, drawing news reporters from Houston. I had no part in it, did not attend.
After it ended, I received 3 strange phone calls at my office. Weird, vulgar stuff. All from "private caller" showing up on the screen on my phone. We were unable to trace it.
I have decided to take this up with the FBI if it continues, skipping the Sheriff's Office completely. One of the peace officers from yesterday is running for sheriff against the incumbent.
That's how my week is going! My trip to visit Goliad, tour the historic district, will not happen this weekend. The rains and storms begin Friday, continue through Sunday evening.
With travel, it's always something!
Thanks for the OT, my friend!

Sorry to hear that. As well as the weather spoiling your plans.
Hopefully things will flip into a more positive frame.

Some facts about China and Chinese moving into the Americas - worthy of a full read, and the embedded stuff on Mexicali too.

Always remember
It works really well when someone on this continent speaks Chinese.

Heh, I'm a Californian, they've been here for ages now,
and seemingly places in Mexico and SA too. What the article is about is the increased investment in Mexico due to the US' tariffs and treaties, similar to the post '64 boom in maquiladoras.
When I was in Mazatlan, the dockside area was literally covered with new MG automobiles. The brand is now owned and manufactured by China's SAIC company in China. They have a decent and growing market share in Mexico, but none in the US because of punitive duties levied by the US. They are one of the companies looking to set us shop in Mexico because then those cars can enter the US duty free. Ditto EVs, they are a world leader in EVs, but sell none here. That too is a sector that is seeking to build factories in Mexico, as well as battery manufacturers.

This isn't just about drug running, and the real question is whether or net there is a net benefit or loss to US citizenry if/when it occurs, and whether or not the US, which is sure to try to stop it, can effectively do so.

(Very glad, since two cents is the entirety of my budget for such.)
Are you still in Mexico in your mind? Sounds like you had a great trip.
It is wonderful you were fit enough to do your vacay thing there.

Not really still there, though a wee bit of me is always
vaguely in Mazatlan. However, my body is somewhat addicted to specific monoclonal antibodies which sort of ties me down here.
