Open Thread - 10-03-23 - How to Survive in Today's World
Author's note: I just woke up and realized that today is Tuesday and I promised to cover the open thread for earthling1. I have to leave shortly for a one and a half hour round trip to a neighboring city to get some shingles for the crew that's working on our house. I don't have time to write anything substantial so I'll post this rough draft that I saved as a future OT.
Our so called leaders are showing us how to survive in today's world. Be a crook. Be corrupt. Lie. Steal. Cheat.
It's become increasingly difficult to make ends meet today, unless one is lawless. It's been made obvious that the rule of law is passe. Both petty thieves and hardened criminals are slapped on the wrist while white collar corruption goes unstopped on a massive scale.
The corrupt are thriving while the honest working man sinks lower and lower.
The US has become the leader of the world in corruption. In a time when the last of the resources are dwindling we fight wars to secure it all rather than equity for it's inhabitants.
Want to become rich? Enter government, anything from school boards to the federal government, the higher up the more prosperous. Politicians work for their wallet and not for their constituency, it's ass backwards.
We may call ourselves civilized, but in the light of the last few years it has become shockingly apparent, we are anything but civilized, hell, we are the most dangerous and greedy species on planet Earth.
We are neo-Rapa nui.
Let's face it, crime pays.

sorry there's not much meat to this morning's OT, I didn't get a chance to flesh this out, hopefully it's enough to give a general idea of it's intent. It is a rough draft.

Since crime pays so well, why are there no skilled criminal shortages or supply
chain issues? And inflation doesn't seem to effect the industry either. No lockdowns
(or lock-ups) and these bald-faced crooks do not have to wear masks!

Good morning Johnny, et. al. Not too much to add or to
say about much of nothing. Spending a ton of time trying to sync stuff across my devices these days; text is a gimmee, but spreadsheets not so. Ah well, not too urgent and keeps me busy and distracts from the fake news and reality, corruption and murderous behavior.
All the propaganda is aggravating, but one can't make much headway against that. The constant lies and corruption that have been this nation's history make it nearly impossible to explicate the totality of our reality because one has to try to communicate the errors of all of the fake history back to the sixteen hundreds else that mythos serves as a fallback.

case in point -
So, this County Sheriff nearby
started his tenure in office
started his tenure in office with a bang. He raided 8 or 9 illegal slot machine private little illegal casinos. He confiscated machines, cash, every stick of furniture in those rooms. Even mops, tissue, cleaning supplies.
Well, he had to fly out to Vegas for some national cop seminar. He used the confiscated cash for his flight, room, food, and gambling while it was still in evidence and before the formal court proceedings to be awarded his departments share of the proceeds.
The person who reported this to the authorities announced he would run or that office. So, who got arrested? The deputy whistleblower. Several felony cases, all later dismissed. Everyone in office in that county says the whistleblower had a personal grudge against the sheriff. Not a single official word about the expenditures by the sheriff of money taken (illegally) from the evidence room.
Oh...nothing was ever mention about that one game room he missed. It was the one run by the mother of the Lt. Department of Public Safety trooper who lived and had his headquarters in that county.
These sheriff and Trooper mom are way, way above the law.
