Happy Friday everyone. I hope everybody is doing well. Post any photos, memes, or music you like.
Now that summer is here we are finally getting our spring weather with overcast skies in the early morning and sunshine by late morning through the rest of the day and temps in the mid 70s, which is about 10° below normal for this time of year. It's been very pleasant.
A mix of some of the local plant life around where I live
Have a good weekend everyone.

thanks for posting and hosting!
Hi, QMS.
I never could acquire a taste for mushrooms. To me they all taste like dirt.
Hope you've had lots of sailing time in the yacht while at the lake.

only one day with wind

but got her out there
used it more as a picnic boat

food, drinks and lot's of eagle activity
to watch and listen to silence
kinda does taste like dirt
Sounds like a great way to spend an afternoon

That yacht looks similar to the one that the Ukrainians used to

Good one, humphrey
I got a big smile from that one.

Hi Q
Thanks for the ferns and pollen. What a great combination.
And here I aways thought that yatdoc meant you were the GP of yachts ; )
Hi pixelators
Hi all, Hey SP! Hope all are well!
Great flower and fungus photos, as always. Love the shroom shot. The ones that won't kill you are great for you. It's the tellin' them apart to be sure part that is hard. Plus the fact that at least one type in Mexico was found to have changed chemically and went from edible to toxic, killing a family.
Fairly sure though since not a plant we can't call them flora. Animals are fauna, plants are flora. Fungus (mushrooms) (and lichen) are neither. Not positive but methinks flora is for botanical, only, and shrooms are not.
Not sure if there is a good categorical name for the non flora and fauna living things.
Not trying to nitpick, just don't want people to get the wrong idea that mushrooms are flora (plants).
I think the thistles are Musk Thistle, the Euro non-native invasive. Third one up from bottom looks like Castor Bean, also non-native invasive, and the source of Castor Oil, and ricin. Four beans can kill. Nice bee coming into the succulent.
GREAT photos as always.
Will go see my friend the uploader shortly...

Hi, dystopian
I knew mushrooms were fungus, I just didn't know whether fungus was considered a plant or not. Now I know.

No, they’re fungi. To cook the edible ones, you really

Up close dystopian,
the skin of the reptile looks like a woven rug. I'll bet you didn't want to disturb the dayflower to find out if it dropped a tear. Are they called a dayflower because they only open during daylight or last for just a day?
Just took these a few days ago...
I love this thread, and all the wonderful pictures shared here every week. I would like to share some of mine even though I do not have a very good camera, right now, it's my phone. So pardon for the fuzziness of some of the pics...
This is a very old chicken named 'Purry'. She is called that because she makes a sound like purring when we pet her as she's on the hay rick. She spends every night there. None of the other chickens do.
And here's a fledgling barn swallow, giving me a LOOK, but not scared at all! I love these birds, and give them all the freedom I can for them to nest in the farm buildings, etc. They are so good at helping with bugs!
And, a nest in one of the barns. These guys are about ready to fledge too, I think.

Hi, Sima
A chicken that purrs. I'm guessing you don't get to many of those. There's a lot of tree swallows where I live. I'm still trying to get a decent shot of one. I haven't had any luck yet. Nice shots from your farm.

Thanks Sima
That old chicken, Purry, sure has lush, vibrant feathers.

Hi, Janis
Very interesting shot. Nice use of light and shadows. Thanks for the Mark Twain quote.

Just thought I would add this quote from Mark Twain
which was on the opening page of a book of photographic images I looked at today.

Hi obf, and thanks
Did you practice psycho-linguistics as a therapy? I can imagine it being a very interesting area of study.

I think I will give reading Twain's story a go,
as I can imagine it would be interesting to learn something about ageing and final years of life from a master.
I'll let you know if I do.
