Happy Friday everyone. Please post any photos, memes or music you like.
I've always wanted to go on an African safari. Not sure if that will ever happen so until then I make due with the San Diego Zoo and SDZ Safari Park. Join me on a virtual safari.

Too hot to post
But thanks for the great pix.
Low 90s here in Toledo, WA. Just sittin' back sippin' on a Sangria.
So many variations in how they are made.
Neither Russia nor China is our enemy.
Neither Iran nor Venezuela are threatening America.
Cuba is a dead horse, stop beating it.
Hi, earthling1
I feel for you. Right now (6:30 pm) it's 92 and the high temp today was 101. A shot of vodka in water with a splash of lime for me. Cheers.

Thanks for the images.
I always enjoyed visiting a zoo but it has been quite a while having done so.
Hi, humphrey
For me visiting the zoo is a great way to escape the hustle and bustle and experience what mother nature has provided us. Hope you're able to go again soon.

Great shot of the two-headed giraffe
Twice the fun! Tonight we were treated to a stargazing party around the corner. Several
different types of telescopes and very knowledgeable guides. Saw the rings of Saturn,
globular clusters, many constellations and navigation stars. So amazing star gazing.
Thanks for posting your pix!

question everything
Hi QMS
I wish I was there. It inspires me to find someone in the neighbourhood who has a telescope. I'm sure there must be one.
Hi, QMS.
How nice to have a star gazing party around the corner. You have to go an hour or so east to escape all the light pollution from San Diego.

Hi Social
Great photos and titles!
I bet the giraffes would enjoy one of these delicious leaves ...
Enjoy the weekend all
Your curly green leaves describe a startling contrast
to the gray grainy wood. Thanks for sharing the image!
question everything
Thank you, and you're welcome
It is brocollini which I find to be the most beautiful plant in the garden because of it's leaves and tall growth. The leaves are also delicious.
Hi, Janis
I bet the giraffes would love the leaves.
Nice pattern shots. Love the contrasting patterns of the plant, table and deck in the second photo.

@janis b Hi Janis! Great pix!
be well!

Hi dystopian
From what I understand from googling, one would have to see the placement of the petiole to distinguish between Taro and Elephant Ear plants.
I hope your week has been a good one, and it just gets better.
Thanks J!
And so is that where taro cards come from?
I had no idea taro looked like ele ear. Thanks always for your smarts!

This is the first time dystopian ,
that my 'smarts' came from google rather than you. I've always thought you were better than goggle, and that won't ever change ; ).
I will send you a photo of the Taro when its petiole appears.

Hi pixelators
Hi all, Hope all are well!
Apologies if I posted some of these before... Here are some fish from the fish monger. These are all fish that are in the hobby. Most marine, save the two freshwater pointed out.
Bigeye
Squirrelfish
The Bigeye above is in the Squirrelfish family, squirrelfish are the ones often shown 'upside down' in caves, as if top of cave is bottom. But that is only to us, not them.
Striped Grouper
Colombian Tetra (freshwater)
Porcupine Puffer
an African Cichlid (freshwater) perhaps Aulonocara or a Haplochromis sps.
Gotta fly, will check back some time later...
happy happy joy joy

Thanks for the nice selection of fish.

Thank you for the fish
One must need big eyes to see through the water in the darkness of caves.
Well, I would show my pictures
from S. Africa, 2 trips to Kenya, and one trip to Tanzania, except I gave my camera to a tech guy, and he can't find them.
All gone to the cloud.
The sights are forever in my head.
My take is the zoos are for you, but actual safari, it is theirs, and you are in the "cage", protective vehicles, or compounds.
I was in Tanzania, going towards a bridge over a creek. Lions were sleeping on it in the sun. We waited for them to wake up and move. The guide said, "This is their country, we are visitors."

Hi, OTC
3 trips to Africa. Lucky you. To bad your memories have been lost. I guess that gives a good excuse to go again.

Just dropping by…….
Coming late but hope not too. Divine Order used to love to post pictures from our trips to Africa here on C99. I do not have the technical skills to continue to share some of his awesome photos he took while we were traveling in Southern Africa.
My sister and I had planned a trip to Kruger National Park to share some of the excitement of being in close contact with some of these awesome animals but Covid got in our way. Toying with the idea of trying the trip again this summer before it is too late for any of this.
Love the pics you posted and hope all have a wonderful Labor Day weekend.
Life is what you make it, so make it something worthwhile.
This ain't no dress rehearsal!
Hi jakkalbessie
I'm glad you stopped by.
How long has it been since Divine Order passed? His was such a strong and ever positive voice.
I wish you well at home and wherever you continue to travel to.
Hi, jakkalbessie
No such thing as being late to Friday Photos.
Kruger NP looks like a great destination for a safari. I hope you and your sister are able to make it.

My vacation was totally lacking in exciting wildlife highlights
unless it counts to have seen a friendly house cat we were pet-sitting catch two mice.
Can I borrow the cat?
I have a gopher I can't get rid of.

Hola everybody, waaay late, late summer chaos here.
Great pics SP, Janis and Dysto.
So if it is 1 hour east from San Diego (presumable downtown) to dark skies, that means it is 1/2 hour for you, right SP? I figure you are 1 & 1/2 hours from Borrego Springs, an official dark sky town, and lots of ABDSP dark skies via Montezuma grade, and just about the same to Yaqui Well or Yaqui Pass via Banner GRade. I used to drag my 10" dobsonian out to San Felipe Wash just outside of Tamarisk Grove. Caught Comet Shoemaker–Levy 9 from there; also used 10x50 binos. (Caught Comet Kohoutek down at El Capitan State Beach from one of the cliff top sites)
be well and have a good one

Hi, EL
Better late than never.
Even where I live 15 miles inland from the coast, dark skies are about an hour away. I have a 6" Schmidt-Cassegrain I break out every once in a while. I love looking at the rings of Saturn.

the two-headed giraffe ... huh?
Did the photographer forgot to chop one head off or did he had fun to photoshop one on?
argh, you are just too smart for me. I will not forget that you made me feel like an idiot. I still have trust in God that he likes idiots and allows me to sit on his lap.
Sigh. I can"t shake off some depressive attitude, lately. May be I should try some photographing, at least it may make you laugh ...
I will cheat you, hire a professional photographer to make pictures of the garden, I simply can"t imagine I can squeeze me and the tree in one shot.
Have all a good Sunday and stay "confident" as one of our German-American news amchors always says.
I miss working and regret that I ever retired, because I was so tired from working too much.
Good Night.

Hi, Mimi
No photoshop required. The two giraffe were in just the right spot to look like a single giraffe with two heads.

thanks for explaining ... I am just not up for the tasks / nt

Late to the party but so what?!
I always come here for my weekly fix of visual candy. Never disappointed.
I have the James Webb ST site bookmarked, and one of my favorite images is their shot of Jupiter with its moons and rings. Simply awesomely gorgeous. Wish I was more agile technically so I could post the image here. Oh well. Rec'd!!
