Stop Hate

~~ Stop Hate

-

Really, there's a nice long winded holiday and it still forgets to cover non-binary, gender-queer and probably others, besides, of course, all "others".  I quoted Christine Jorgensen last week, old news which should've been dispositive of gender issues and gender related hate and fear:

No one is 100 percent male or female. We all have elements of both male and female in our bodies. I just am more of a woman than I am a man.

Yet, there are and always will be "others".  What about race, color, creed, and all that?  Why not simply stop hate, in all it's manifestations, and why not trace that to its beginning; "othering ".  Many whole categories of people devote great amounts of time and effort to "othering" those not sufficiently like them or not sufficiently to their liking.  Who, exactly, are all those others?  They are, when all is said and done, people. no more and no less.

It is not that I wish to replace days devoted to opposing the numerous various classes of those who are victims of hate and persecution with a single "End Hate" day so much as I desire to see each one used as a springboard and reminder that there is a broader, greater evil, hate, per se, in any and every form.  And what exactly is hate and how can we know it, not merely in others but in ourselves.?  There is almost a cottage industry anymore of claiming that one doesn't hate some person or category or group thereof, but one simply doesn't wish to sell to or buy from or rent to them or have them live next door etc. for ... reasons.  That, quite simply, is hate.  When you wish another ill or harm of any kind, especially if it involves ostracism or boycotting or other overt behavior, then, unless the victim has intentionally harmed one, or threatened to do so, unless there is a bona fide grievance, that animosity and ill wishing can only have one wellspring, hatred.  So let's all just stop it.  Peace and comity are not refraining from wrongful activities and intentions, but affirmative endeavors, so it is time to get to work on it.  So long as TPTB and the opinion makers can keep us at odds with each other,  using the two sided war drum of hate and fear, there will be no peace, happiness nor comity. The other is simply that person in the mirror, oddly familiar but somehow strangely different.  Let them be, they are not a threat.  They don't offend your god(s), though they might offend your priest(s), and if they do, it is quite clear just where the real problem lies.

“While the vaccine discovery was progressive, the joy I felt at the prospect before me of being the instrument destined to take away from the world one of its greatest calamities [smallpox], blended with the fond hope of enjoying independence and domestic peace and happiness, was often so excessive that, in pursuing my favourite subject among the meadows, I have sometimes found myself in a kind of reverie.”

Died this day in:

“Look at us. We build giant highways and murderously fast cars for killing each other and committing suicide. Instead of bomb shelters we construct gigantic frail glass buildings all over Manhattan at Ground Zero, a thousand feet high, open to the sky, like a woman undressing before an intruder and provoking him to rape her. We ring Russia's borders with missile-launching pads, and then scream that she's threatening us. In all history there's never been a more lurid mass example of the sadist-masochist expression of the thanatos instinct than the present conduct of the United States. The Nazis by comparison were Eagle Scouts.”

why it was so much concern to others (particularly religious types) what happens in others bedrooms. What does it matter to you? Also, there's plenty of problems in heterosexual relation.

I liked your mirror comment. Best to do before criticizing others.

Did you catch President Ilham Aliyev tell the BBC News to "Look in the mirror"? (3-4 min)

that myself. It seems like the universal answer would be "what's it to you?" It's all indoctrination, some of which is called education and some of which is called parenting.

Loved that interview and loved the interviewer trying to duck the issue.

Seven point five billion each thinking it's special, hum.

The Black Rider is the twelfth studio album by Tom Waits, released in 1993 on Island Records, featuring studio versions of songs Waits wrote for the play The Black Rider, directed by Robert Wilson and co-written by William S. Burroughs. The play is based on the German folktale Der Freischütz by Johann August Apel, which had previously been made into an opera by Carl Maria von Weber. The play premiered on March 31, 1990, at the Thalia Theater in Hamburg, Germany. Its world English-language premiere occurred in 1998 at the Edmonton International Fringe Festival.

Waits would later collaborate with Wilson on the plays Alice (1992) and Woyzeck (2000), the music to which were released on the albums Alice and Blood Money, respectively.

Pride Day 1990, First Domestic Partners Initiative passes.

San Francisco
In 1982, Brougham's definition was modified by Supervisor Harry Britt, a gay man appointed to replace Harvey Milk. Britt's version was adopted and passed by the San Francisco Board of Supervisors, but Dianne Feinstein, mayor of San Francisco at the time, came under intense pressure from the Catholic Church and vetoed the bill.[6] In 1989, a domestic partnership law was adopted in San Francisco.[7] However, voters repealed the domestic partnership law by initiative; a modified version was reinstated by another voter initiative, 1990's Proposition K, also written by Britt.[8][9] Currently, the city still offers a domestic partnership status separate and differing in benefits from that offered by the state; city residents can apply for both.[10]

Four years later at Pride Day Santa Rosa, I stood up in public with 39 other queer couples to say vows for something called The Wedding. The oaks we married under are gone now. So is my brother and my marriage but that's life.

Near the end of my time on this planet what does it matter? "my biology went totally queer, and all I got was this tee shirt" is what my personal life has amounted to after all that activism, a raggedy tee shirt. I can't eat my identity, nobody cares about that. What matters is money, that's my conclusion. I'm wearing fucking rainbow sleeves in that photo 'cause my rich aunt died and left me (and siblings) a fortune. That's gone now too. It sort of kicks my guts to remember how much cash I flushed down the Democrat donation hole, for what now? Shit on the streets, dirty needles and hopelessly homeless poor people. FUCK, just try to forget
...
because rainbows! Right? Democrats are still a suicidal death cult, nothing has changed. Have a nice day!
The most pervasive myth that almost everyone believes about Jonestown

Even people who don’t know the story of Jonestown know the phrase it spawned: drinking the Kool-Aid. A tragedy reduced to a derisive catchphrase, reserved for people seemingly too stupid to think for themselves.

It is a comfort, letting us believe we are above what happened to the Jonestown victims. We would never drink the Kool-Aid.

This is the great myth of Jonestown: that only the feeble-minded could be convinced to kill themselves. But the deaths of some 900 people at Jonestown on Nov. 18, 1978 was not mass suicide. It was mass murder.

...
FKH8(TM) My activist credentials have all expired, continuing on. I am not voting for Jenner to get rid of Newsom either, speaking of kool-aid. Get a better spokesperson please, and don't make it Ellen mkay? LOL

The Democrats ran a pretty fair charade there for a while, took a lot of people to the cleaners in a lot of ways. In the end it was all a con, and DiFi is the perfect example.

Jonestown? Kool Aid for 900, please, oh yeah, cigarettes for millions too. You actually can fool an honest person, assuming you find one. Hello? Telegram for Mr. Diogenes!

@enhydra lutris I was exiting the north side of The Rainbow (nee Waldo) Tunnel when I heard the news about Harvey Milk and Mayor Moscone during that year of Kool-Aid. Oy. It is now called The Robin Williams Tunnel, and the Golden Gate Bridge is finally getting its net. I rest my case, bound to the walls of red yarn coincidence, same as it ever was. Progress.

I do recall watching a lot of TV that evening and being sufficiently aware of SF politics to be among those who thought "oh yeah, Dan White, figures" and being appalled that White later weaseled out of taking responsibility for his actions. Turns out my conservative Republican county fully accepted her.
Just last year, my lifelong friend, the District attorney, hired a gay woman assistant district attorney.
By that time, nobody commented one way or another.
I have asked homophobes if they thought anybody cared what they did in their bedrooms 30 minutes a week.
They didn't catch the insult.
