Once you're riding the tiger, how do you get off? The US is desperate to maintain its primacy no matter the consequences. However, the plan is backfiring. The entire world sees our barbaric approach in this war. All oil being shipped through Hormuz must be purchased with Yuan (RMB) and a 10% passage fee also paid to Iran in Yuan. That is part of the reason TPTB are so focused on the Strait. This foolish war of choice will, at a minimum, weaken the the petrodollar and hasten the transition to a petroyuan. In many ways this is an economic war.
Trying to keep up with Trump's comments leaves me puzzled. We're about to wind this down, but we're sending more troops and ships? What happens when those service members are killed? Deeper and deeper into the mire... Ever more enmeshed in this tarbaby of a war.

All so the trumpet appears like a 'winner'. Ignorant loser is more
like it. He can no longer negotiate settlements as no one trusts

...to minimize weed eating later. We keep wood chips on the paths between the beds and mulch the beds with straw.
Last Monday it snowed here, but melted in an hour or so later. This weekend is about 80F with no rain in sight for the rest of the month.
Last year I started using re-ground asphalt on our road. I'm pleased and plan to add more this summer. It is about the same price as gravel.

I will not link to this article because I can't verify who Milan Adams is, or anything about his preppgroup blog, but the gist of his very long article about economic systems and policy was interesting.
We think of economies in financial terms, and know market reactions to high or low expectations is high or low interest rates, abundant or sparse product. Inflation and stagflation are always responded to the same way. But if we base the economic system on energy, we do not know what to expect. Let's say a country provides raw material, or rare earths, to second country. The second country makes parts, then ships to third country for assembly and distribution. Look at the possibilities of energy shortage at stage 1 extraction, shipping, factories, more shipping, third country plant failure to
operate final assembly, or be able to ship the finished product to final market destination. One country might bounce right back to full capacity, another might be months or years from making full recovery.
Well, I want my a/c repaired here at home and at the office while parts are available. I don't know what the odds are that the a/c in two properties conks our within 48 hrs, but it happened.

We're prepared, but...
...I'm worried about others. You know my line, "I'm hiding in the holler".
In the 1860's, the people living here hid as well. However, there was an old road that came down off the mountain into this holler. McCook's troops followed this old road which is now only a foot path (I guess the automobile spelled it's demise about 1900). His union troops stole all their livestock and stored produce of the family living here. He retreated after seeing southern troops (for which he later faced court marshal), but after the war our predecessors brought suit against the Fed. Govt for stealing all their food. The US archives hold their testimony, and they won their suit! They sued for $160, but we're awarded $102. Times were different then, the lawyer only got $2 of the award. Those people are buried in the little cemetery which is our future home. At any rate, there's no longer that old road. So perhaps we will weather the storm better than they did. Time will tell.
As to y'alls AC, now is the time to make the investments on your property (which doesn't require debt). We were just talking about that this AM. We need to work on our pond and build some equipment sheds this year (while we can).

Best I can do is report that my acreage has a creek at the northeast boundary. The creek is spring fed. Each year, the Cherokee held their annual gatherings here because of the abundance of spring water. I used to find arrowheads when walking around the pasture. Sam Houston signed a treaty with them about 2 miles away.
I have a couple of upgrades on the house to do. Replace most of the windows while they are in stock; install the solar powered air vent in the attic, while we can find roofing shingles; assemble a pre-fab tool shed while door locks are in stock. My home a/c is only 4 years old, and the office a/c is only 5 yrs old. Wasn't expecting the failures at all. Should I blame it on Russia or Iran?

Had a deer bedded down in among front yard bushes yesterday morning, my wife startled it by accident whereupon it bolted, startling my wife and one of the neighbors. Very interesting patch of ground we have here, surroounded by somewhat manicured yards and full of wildlife. Ah well, time to get foing.
