Seems to me that many of us do believe that our elections are lacking in credibility, but I don't think that there is anything that I CAN DO to make them better. Not when you have powerful government agencies doing what they do. I can call it out and decide not to take part in rigged elections. I haven't voted since 2008 because it doesn't seem to matter to my life who is president when you have people that have been in government/lobbying for decades and they have more power to do whatever their goals are. How does voting change the austerity policies, the never ending wars, regime change, f'cking with other countries? Hell I can't even get them to help people here. I have been talking about our elections for decades..........

So no that isn't a fair accusation. imho.

Instead of people joining together and fighting for basic rights we are being even more divided into fighting between the left and right which has been brilliantly planned by the elite.

that fair and credible elections are among those basic rights that we should be
uniting to protect.

Democratic Senators such as Wyden and Warren were questioning Dominion as recently as 2018. Stacy Abrams was going on tirades about the dangers of electronic voting systems just last year - but where are they now?

@Blue Republic There have been many essays and comments about insecure voting at this site, and I have been among the many posters on this subject. I think there is pretty good evidence for stolen elections (e.g. 2004 Presidential election in Ohio, the senatorial election in which Cleland was defeated in Georgia, the 2014 Brownback victory in Kansas, some of the 2016 Democratic primaries, and probably a lot more). However, I have to say that the Dominion voting machines in Georgia are pretty damned secure in that they make a paper record of one's votes that one inspects and puts into a secure counter. Sure, you can rig the counting but the record is there, locked in a box, and it would be dangerous as hell to rig an election in Georgia in which the Secretary of State and Governor are Trump supporters and a good paper trail is available. More generally, the Trump legal "team" has been absolutely pathetic in court. They have not produced any credible evidence of voter fraud that was anything near the magnitude that would be required to steal the election. Moreover, Biden could give Trump Ga. and Pa. and he would still win the electoral college voted.

I see the corruption and machinations very clearly so with my cynicism as a shield I don’t get depressed, in fact I get a macabre sense for being validated for my conspiracy “theories”. I take pride in being aware of the manipulation even if I can’t change it. (It’s like a cheated-upon partner gets validation when they find proof that their suspicions about their cheating partner are correct. It’s like 'I’m NOT crazy, I knew that something was wrong, I knew they were cheating and now I have proof!')

I started to mature politically from Bill Clinton’s presidency and I think Obama finished my education in the political arena. I can pretty much predict how things are going to play out because I know that people are working behind the scenes to manipulate the outcome. I suspected that Bernie would roll over this time (regardless of the Covid excuse as the reason for his capitulation). I knew that it would be Biden/Harris from the very beginning when Harris threw her hat into the ring (I just had the order reversed). I knew that the primaries would be rigged against Bernie, I knew that the election would be stolen from Trump (I was just surprised at how massive and obvious the election fraud turned out to be).

When you realize that the things you think are going to happen actually do happen then it affirms that you are NOT crazy [and] that the system is rotten to the core.
