Haven't heard from the DNC since I asked to be removed from its lists in 2010. What a pleasure it was to write DWS a letter! Here's an excerpt of what I will return in the postage-paid envelope:
Dear Ms. Wasserman Schultz:
I appreciate your asking my opinion. Here it is.
...I’m a woman in Hillary Clinton’s age group and a lifelong Democrat—the demographic that’s supposed to be firmly in her camp. But I’m not.... The Democratic Party of today, the party of the Clintons, doesn’t speak to or for me. The only reason I’m still a registered Democrat is because I live in a closed-primary state.
In this primary season, the country has seen you, with support of the party’s heavyweights, pull every stunt you thought you could get away with to throw the nomination to Hillary Clinton. She was a weak and vulnerable candidate in ’08; she’s a weaker and more vulnerable candidate now.
I support Bernie Sanders. My values are far to the left of where the Democratic Party is now. I’m tired of being courted half-heartedly in election years while promises made to appease the left are broken and Republican obstruction is blamed (I lived in DC for decades; that excuse doesn’t work with me).
So after more than 40 years of voting reliably Democratic, I’m done. I’m immune to guilt or Republican bogeymen. I’m done with voting lesser evil, done with “better than the other guy.” If I can’t find adequate reason to vote for a candidate, that person will not have my vote.
That means I will not vote for Hillary Clinton if she’s the nominee, no matter what. I’ll write in Bernie Sanders, a candidate I can vote for enthusiastically (my GE ballot will have a write-in option), or vote for Jill Stein and the Green Party. And I’ll continue to support genuine progressives, like Tim Canova. In fact, your survey has reminded me to donate directly to his campaign again.

don't work for us. We're merely the means to the end of getting them into office, where they can profit personally from being the tools that too many are (in every sense) of big-money individuals and industry segments.
But I wanted whoever might read my letter to know I bypass the DNC and support some Democrats directly--like DWS' challenger, Canova. Just as likely that those envelopes are opened, checks removed, and all other contents trashed without being read. That "survey" is so transparent it deserves its role as a joke on political blogs.

They don't really tabulate those things, you know. They divide them into two groups, those who donate and those who don't. If there's no donation info (credit card #, amount) it's questionable if anyone will even get around to reading it but it never hurts to tell them the truth, just on the off-chance that they notice it.
we got a call today from someone...shaz answered the phone. She must be on some list and they wanted her to volunteer or something. She told them "I hate Obama and the Democrats can go #$%^ themselves" and hung up. Oh, yeah, in the middle she asked "are you a machine?" and got an actual response from a real person, who must have had something interesting to say to the other callers.
Just like referring to a sales call as a "survey" can keep the call from being legal due to FCC regulation and not liable to Do Not Call listing, those mail surveys are nothing but MONEY SOLICITATIONS.
And FWIW, the Obama Administration website did a lot of the same thing which REALLY pissed me off.
I'm on a fixed effing income, godammit. It's not just what I lie and say to people I won't buy from it's FACT.

Don't bother with the overweight envelopes gimmick. The machines that process those replies know what to expect as far as weight and thickness.
