Friday night photos - OT
Submitted by dystopian on Fri, 09/27/2019 - 8:29pm
Hope I am not stepping on any toes here... but since I don't see anything up yet... I'll toss a few pix up but can't guarantee how much I can be around to be a good host.
An immature American Redstart visited the bath but I missed a good shot. Just a docushot.
Carolina Chickadee apparently scolding a Yellow Warbler for splashing too much.
Ruby-throated Hummingbird - head crop
Red Saddlebags - dragonfly - male
Love to see everyone's photos...

Amazing..
Thanks for hosting tonight. I haven't taken a photo in ages, but fall is starting and I know where I'm going to get fall photos again. I love Aspens in all seasons, but especially in the fall.
There were problems with running a campaign of Joy while committing a genocide? Who could have guessed?

Yes some of the cottonwoods have started turning as are the maples. This week was just absolutely perfect weatherwize but tomorrow it's turning cold and raining. The whole west part of the country is getting an Arctic blast. Snow in Montana and in our mountains. Hopefully it won't rain too hard and hurt the leaves before I get there.

Hi snoopy
It feels like ages since we've met.
The giraffes are such graceful animals. Enjoy the beauty and delicacy of Aspens in Autumn.
Hiya Janis
It's been awhile since you've been here. Are you still visiting with your mom and if so when do you return home? You will be going home to spring yes? Hope your mom is doing well?
Nice shot of the flowers.

I'm still at my moms,
and will be back home in two weeks, as Spring will make its entrance. My mom is thankfully fully recovered, and I expect to feel more settled once I am back in the comfort of home.
Hi, Janis--good to see you! Have had
to be a bit scarce myself (lately), but, try to lurk as much as possible. And, was beginning to get concerned that either you, or, possibly your Mom (under the circumstances--her fall) weren't doing very well.
Anyhoo, very happy to hear that you're both fine. If I don't see you again soon, have a nice and safe trip home.
Have a lovely weekend.

Everyone thinks they have the best dog, and none of them are wrong.
What a welcome pleasure
to see you again, Mollie. I do miss our connection. Being with my mom through these changes have been challenging for both, but we've made it through pretty well.
I see that you and Mr. M and Katie are excitingly close to living your vision for the future. I trust that the move will be satisfying to you in many ways, and hopefully inspiring as well. I look forward to hearing about your experiences as you encounter them. Always wishing you the best.
Thank you for the well wishes, Janis. As I told Anja,
the past month has seen several changes to our plans, so, we're still making some decisions. (Believe it or not, Hurricane Dorian even entered into the mix, cancelling one plan we had.)
At any rate, we're very much looking forward to the new phase of life that we're about to embark upon. And, while I've been absent, Mr M and I celebrated our 42nd Wedding Anniversary. I must say--I am the 'lucky one.'
Take care.

I've googled images
of where you will live. It looks beautiful and adventurous.
Nice shot of the Aspens, Snoopy.
I'm great at multi-tasking. I can waste time, be unproductive, and procrastinate all at the same time.
Gracious
Love your shots of the ocean of course and the trees. Is Torrey pines in S Cal?

Thank you, Snoopy.
Torry Pines is in La Jolla, about 15 miles north of downtown San Diego.

Ouch!
Seriously though, thank you dystopian.
A bouquet, to apologize for my utter absence from the POT. Time and events have conspired against my presence, but I anticipate life returning to normal in a few more weeks. Cheers everyone!
Yellow warblers make my heart melt
Thank you for all your photos, always.
Evening, Janis
I don't know what type of flowers those are, but I love the shot.

Tulips and Irises
just past their prime. Thank you
Great pic Janis!
Beautiful flower photo Janis. I love the backlit translucence on the petals. Gorgeous.

Naturally it was ; )
You tread so lightly and gently. Thank you, dystopian
Thanks for Fri. Night photos, Dystopian.
Nice series, dystopian and a docushot will always be better than no shot at all.
Some shots I took back in May at Torry Pines State Reserve.

Thanks Social,
for the touching relationship of the two pines in the first photo and the heart shaped cactus sporting twins.
Thanks, Janis and
don't let that big heart fool you, that cactus is one prickly dude.

Haha,
It wouldn't be the first time.

And I think to myself, "What A Wonderful World"...
In the Land of the Blind, the One-Eyed Man is declared mentally ill for describing colors.
Yes Virginia, there is a Global Banking Conspiracy!
yes, what a wonderful world
in all its beauty and spirit. Thanks L M for your contributions of beauty, humor and soul.
Those images are ASTOUNDING!

Thank you, dystopian, for the gorgeous bird photos,
and, for hosting this evening.
Of course, as one of the few 'non-photographers' here, I rarely have anything much to contribute to this thread. Having said that, here's a photo from a Community blog of a pier in our neighborhood, in what is now our primary residence, until we leave for SA--the Eastern Shore of Talibama (as Joe would say).
Again, thanks for this thread. Even if I don't always get to drop by and comment, absolutely luv your bird photos. After all, I'm a 'Cockatiel Mom,' as well as a dog lover!

You got it. We're actually in a bedroom community
in an adjoining county (for now).
Hey, so long as we don't talk politics with most folks around here, they're generally quite pleasant and accommodating. Now, one thing we do have in common with many of them, because I lived on the Eastern Shore for a couple of years as a kid--enthusiasm for College football. Both 'Bama and Auburn. (But, we don't fall in the flat-out 'fanatic' category, as some folks down here do.)
Having said that, I cried when (Paul) Bear Bryant passed away, and watched his funeral from Fairbanks, Alaska. But, gotta understand - The Bear was 'an institution' in that State. Without a doubt, one of the most beloved, revered, and respected figures that it's ever produced.
As I recall, thousands and thousands of people lined the Interstate and overpasses to honor him and his funeral procession.
And, just like it was yesterday, remember seeing Joe Namath quarterbacking for 'Bama at (today's) Ladd-Peebles Stadium in Mobile (when I was a kid). Hey, sorry--like Mr M would say, TMI.
Have a nice weekend.

Congrats on the retirement UL
Neither Russia nor China is our enemy.
Neither Iran nor Venezuela are threatening America.
Cuba is a dead horse, stop beating it.
Thank you, earthling1. I took the plunge some time ago,
but, now that Mr M is finally leaving the proverbial corporate fishbowl/workplace, really looking forward to our new journey together.
Have a nice weekend!
