Tulsi Hits 65,000 Donors!!!---UPDATE

She did it, an hour ago!

Tulsi Gabbard now has enough individual donors to make it into the televised Democratic debates! Thanks to those of you who helped, either by becoming a donor, or in spirit!

BIG UPDATE: Awhile back I attended a Tulsi event in Fremont, CA, and mentioned how one woman stood up and had an impassioned question for Tulsi, and Tulsi was pretty impressive with her response. There is finally a video of it, but I'm not sure how long it will stay up. I mentioned that at least 4 large men in the audience had to reach for tissues, because in the moment everyone felt the Afghan woman's pain. Please watch, and watch until the end, because Tulsi really starts to lay into the real problem in the final couple of minutes. I hope this is not taken down!

Hitting this goal means that I will be able to stand on the debate stage in June and bring our campaign’s vision for America — with peace and prosperity for all — to an even larger audience. We could not have done it without you and every volunteer and supporter who has chosen to stand with us.

In a few days — on my 38th birthday, April 12 — campaign volunteers around the country are finding opportunities to serve in their communities. It’s the best birthday present I can think of and the way I want to celebrate reaching this historic milestone of 65,000 donors to our campaign.

When we first heard about the DNC’s requirement of 65,000 individual donors to make it to the debate state in June, we had a small list and a bootstrapped team. The fact that we have reached this goal now, hailing from Hawaii and refusing to take any money from PACs, is huge.

We don't have many of the built in advantages of other candidates in the race. But we are succeeding because we stand strong for what the American people want and need: leadership free from corruption and warmongering, that puts people before profits; leaders who will not drag us into one regime change war after another, inflaming the new Cold War and nuclear arms race that has been and will continue to drain trillions of dollars from our economy and threaten our communities, nation, and planet.  

Now, to get Mike Gravel on the debate stage.

I've been following many facets of Tulsi's campaign including movement on the 65,000 donor target. I'm thrilled that she met this mark as we need her on the debate stage.

The other part of her campaign that I've been following is her appropriate rejection of wars for regime change. Aside from it being a potentially successful campaign strategy, I think it's extremely for this message for peace to be spoken right here and now. Establishment chatter on war is currently rising to frightening levels and it seems only Tulsi is calling them out at this critical time.

I am quite impressed with Rep. Gabbard, but she has voted multiple times for Defense Appropriation Acts. If she wants to stop those wars, she needs to stop funding them.

I'm not talking about funding for the VA (to which funding for "military construction" is always pasted on). I'm talking about the main Pentagon budget. IMO, that should not get a Yea vote until the budget has been cut at least in half.

P.S. I am thrilled that she reached the 65K mark. But that doesn't necessarily mean she'll make it on stage; the Democrats will bring in other requirements if the number exceeds 20.

Yeah, every time I consider seeing Tulsi on a "debate" stage with the hoard of other nominees, I find myself thinking of Catch 22.

She has the 20 states requirement covered in addition to the 65,000 unique contributions.

She hasn't been polling more than 1% but my understanding was that was an either/or provision.

And how do they then determine who gets on stage and who doesn't?

Can you cut and paste those rules in a post?

@Wally I can't find an official statement from the DNC, but, from 538, which got it from Politico:

"The party has capped the number of debate participants at 20, and to qualify to take the stage, a candidate will need to get at least 1 percent support in three national polls or polls of early primary states, or raise money from a minimum of 65,000 donors from 20 states, including at least 200 unique donors per state. If more than 20 candidates meet this criteria, the party will give preference to candidates who clear both the polling and fundraising thresholds, and if that’s still too many people, invitations will go to candidates who have the highest polling averages".

I understand the current candidate count is under 20, and some of those haven't reached either threshold, so maybe she'll make it in.

This is a major bummer. Tulsi is not polling over 1% in any recognized poll from what I can see (unless Real Clear Politics is hiding her numbers):

I'll keep an eye looking for articles about numbers of candidates who have met the 65,000 contribution threshold in 20 states. I hope you do, too. Please post if you find anything to confirm the number at this point and who might be close.

I'd like to see her on the debate stage. Gravel, too.

But the thing is . . . . they can knock each other off the debate stage if they both reach the other requirements but not the polling requirement.
