OT ~ Welcome to Saturday!
Sit-a-while
on swinging porch
where tin-dippers and
sweet water
in cool touches
meet lips
from hand dug wells.
I have lots of things to teach you now, in case we ever meet, concerning the message that was transmitted to me under a pine tree in North Carolina on a cold winter moonlit night. It said that Nothing Ever Happened, so don’t worry. It’s all like a dream. Everything is ecstasy, inside. We just don’t know it because of our thinking-minds. But in our true blissful essence of mind is known that everything is alright forever and forever and forever. Close your eyes, let your hands and nerve-ends drop, stop breathing for 3 seconds, listen to the silence inside the illusion of the world, and you will remember the lesson you forgot, which was taught in immense milky way soft cloud innumerable worlds long ago and not even at all. It is all one vast awakened thing. I call it the golden eternity. It is perfect. ~ Jack Kerouac
Good morning good people,
The dog is seated by the victrola
listening, head cocked
to the voice of his master
and thinking
how different he looks today
smaller, like a box
and his head an ornate
megaphone.
Where are the legs
he needs to walk me
where are the hands
that throw my ball
the dog wonders
trembling slightly.
~ Billy Collins, RCA Victor

Good morning, smiley7. Happy Saturday!
I am under the weather today--possibly food-related. I wanted to stop by, anyway, to wish you and everyone else a great day.
Sorry to hear you
aren't feeling well, Henry. Sending healing vibes. Thanks much for stopping by.
Feel better HAW
Tummy aches can be a real bummer. Try to keep hydrated. Either with sips of ginger ale if your stomach can handle it. Or slowly suck on a little crushed ice.

Hmm, the Kerouac piece resonates -- perfect
The see-thru skull at the mall is apt.
Thanks for the thoughts and tunes!
Dave Mason
question everything
Good morning, QMS.
Thanks for the Dave Mason. The see-thru piece intrigues; couldn't locate the artist; would enjoy looking at more of their work.
Have a good one.
good morning
Spring has arrived on Lookout Mt. Redbuds, fruit trees, and more in full bloom.
A quick round or two around trade day this AM. Bought a better tow rope today. That's the way I haul downed trees and brush...dragging them with the tractor. This time of year the box scrape is the implement of choice...the poor man's bulldozer. Anyway I can haul materials to a burn pile or ditch, and push stuff into piles or ditches with my set up. Been doing a lot of that over the last (dry) week.
Off to a fish fry this afternoon. The new season is upon us and folks are cleaning out their freezers getting ready for this years fish. I don't often fish, but several in our crowd are fanatics...mainly bream fillets, and a large variety of ocean fish.

Have a good one all!

Gone fishing, Lookout, is music
to my ears. Nothing tastes better than bream. Cancelled our last trip because of weather. Used to travel to Panama City when the Spanish were running. Miss having a freezer full of those in Winter.
Down in Chapel Hill yesterday and Spring buds were out. Not up here, it's very cold and windy.
When the fisherman was asked "Where did you catch all those fish, he replied, "Same place.
Thanks for the tune and have a good one.
...in the mouth?

Good morning smiley, thanks. Sorry you are under the weather.
Heading out today, quite soon in fact, lst minute to do list ever expanding - it is a living thing.
Thanks mucho for the Golden Eternity, long ago, many was the time I cited and referenced that name, now long forgotten. Yes it is, must revisit it, if only momentarily. Have a great one.
Wemt to you tube and entered "desert music" this came up on top, ;et's see what it is.

Edit to add: Good morning, el. Busy day here and too much
on the mind, issues and issues.
Hey, music is cool; playing in background.
Have a good one.
Meant to tell you how much i enjoyed Wednesday's OT. Thank you.
Good Morning!
Update on the owlet in our tree. For those who are not aware, I posted a story about the young owlet that one of my dogs discovered on the ground under a patriarch oak in our yard. That was two weeks ago this Sunday. I called St. Francis Wildlife Rescue and several hours later a rehabber arrived. She examined the owlet and found him to be physically fine so she said she was going to replace him in the tree.
The lowest crook in the tree is about ten feet off the ground and it was the only one she could reach with an 8 ft. ladder she brought. While she was standing on the very top of the ladder, my neighbor and I brought large sticks and Spanish moss to her which she used to build a nest for the baby. When she finished, she placed him in the nest and left.
Since then, both my husband I were nervous about whether the owlet would make it. In fact the next day, my husband climbed up on a ladder to check on the baby and saw a half eaten squirrel in the nest, meaning that the parents were caring for it. Every day, my husband makes his owl check before taking the dogs out. I call him "Mama Owl."
It is now two weeks later and the owlet is still in his nest. He is huge now but apparently is not yet ready to fledge. At first we thought he was a barred owl, but now have determined that he is a great horned owl. He is beautiful and very aware of us when we are out in the yard. He is always watching from his high up perch.

So glad to hear this
Thanks for the update GG! Any chance we'll get pictures of the owlet?

Wonderful, gg; the owl is just
in time for Spring. Just read the great horned owl is a hoot owl; cool.
Hope you two get to see it fly.
Thanks, gg, for sharing and hoping you've a great day.
We saw this young one last spring...
...they were nesting on a osprey platform at the moss point Audubon center in MS.

Owl times
Thanks for the owl update!
After working nights (mostly outdoors) for many decades, owls are my buds. Loved how you could be busy working and intent on the job at hand, yet still be aware of them who-whoing to each other ... usually miles apart. Sometimes you could recognize an individual owl by some tiny variation in their voice or manner of call/response.
Hopefully, your young owlet as an adult will remember you and you'll get frequent visits - even if it's only to briefly stir you from your dreams.
Good Morning Smiley
Thanks so much for the poetry. Especially enjoyed Kerourac. There have been special times in my life where I have been out in nature and felt the way he describes. Nice memories.
It might be too early in the morning for Billy Connelly's piece. Not sure I understood it, but it made me sad.
I'm off to do some shopping. I have a day of cooking head of me today. Never so happy than when I'm in the kitchen making good stuff.
Have a great day everyone!

Good morning, zoebear.
Know what you mean about cooking and having fun shopping. Did a little of that yesterday in Chapel Hill, as they have specialty stores there selling food and items at better prices than we have locally.
Purchased Smoked Spanish paprika; looking forward to giving it a try.
Happy cooking and day.
Thanks for the OT and comments
Poetry, garden work, owls, cooking . . . all good. Hope you are already feeling better HAW.
Made chicken-n-dumplings today for the first time. Good use of leftovers and it turned out yummy. Laundry, gardening for about 4 hours, had to stop and rest so it was really nice to sit down and read here.

chicken-n-dumplings, Marylin; yummy, someday
maybe you can share your recipe. Not great at getting the dumplings right; too tough on occasions.
Glad you made it by and hope you've a great weekend.
Good evening,
I was sidetracked this morning and never made it to the porch. Finally got here and I'm listening to the music now and oh those owls!
We're going to gather round to watch a movie tonight. Hope everyone has a good one.
Thanks for the OT smiley. Best to you.
Hi randtntx; movie sounds good; presently having
