Sounds like some solid support. Love the picture of Maduro with the world council of peace. Good cartoon too. Did you hear the Russians interview Elliot Abrams pretending to be the president of switzerland. He is an evil bastard...

Russian pranksters Vovan and Lexus talk to US Special Representative for Venezuela Elliott Abrams (as President of Switzerland Ueli Maurer) about invasion of the US in Venezuela and freezing of Maduro's accounts.

Not that surprising, but kinda fun knowing his leg is being pulled the whole time.

So glad to hear of the marches of support. Thanks for the news.

@Lookout

lol. a café denizen had sent it to me by email. silly twicksters... there are tweets out there w/ videoes on CNN of all places demonstrating which oppo figures had met just before the most recent attempt by drone assassination attempt on maduro, but given it was CNN *and* a video, i'd chosen to forgo it. #GrudgeHoldersAnonymous

again today, i've chosen not to bring the bad news afoot recently, but instead celebrate some of these beautiful solidarity actions.

Is there any chance he can be enticed to post at C99%?

At any rate:

America's Puppet: Meet Juan Guaido

One means of organizing against this sort of thing is to bring together the military families, whose beloveds are currently in prep for a war against Venezuela. NB: make sure that those you're organizing are not communicating with devices being hacked by the NSA.

@wendy davis I will see what I can do. She will be presenting to a group in a week and a half.
Today there was a nice presentation by Sean Orr (sp?) a trade unionist at May Day Books. This is the local (Minneapolis) hang out for the peaceful people. He spoke to a group of over 30- maybe even 40.

One thing I am actually quite hopeful about:
I think Trump is so disastrously handling this coup attempt that it makes it just so clear how wrong it is. Public statements about VZ "oil being good for OUR economy" and the "bullet to the forehead" comment make it clear just how heinous regime change really is. Trump is doing an almost Onion like satire job of it. HRC would have done such a polished job of it and made it look almost reasonable. Trump is giving the Maduro admin so much material to show what a bully the U.S. is that it should really rally his people to stand together and stand strong. There really might be a silver lining in this cloud. I think this makes me an optimist...

@wouldsman

where you live that you might be able to do a short interview w/ her. or barring that, will you attend her talks and perhaps be able to take some notes? is your friend sarah the sara (no H) ajamu baracka had noted was in his tweeted photo (in their letter i unwound down yonder) or in the video w/ maduro? i'm assuming you and she may both live in minneapolis?

yes, HRC would have done it more smoothly, as would have obomba, who'd first applied sanctions along with declaring VZ's government a 'direct threat to US security', later all options are on the table', etc. i used to chuckle a bit that: yes, leftist nations have *always* been a threat to the US.

but i do agree that trump, guaido, abrams, and bolton may have overplayed their hands, and the future depends on how criminally the intend to proceed, despite claiming close to: 'waiting is'.

at the bottom, i'll provide the link to and paste in some of the text of this a.m.'s zeese and flowers' contribution to their newsletter. it's very long, loads of photos and links, etc.

black alliance for peace's letter linked above, then add another tweet:

What a U.S. Peace Delegation Learned in Venezuela’, blackallianceforpeace.com, March 16, 2019

"We mentioned last week that to gather the full range of evidence on U.S. efforts to sabotage Venezuela, a delegation of 13 leaders from peace, civil rights and women’s organizations were heading to Venezuela for five days.

The trip flying in was difficult because many airlines have refused to fly to Venezuela over perceived “danger”. Now, the trip back has been made more difficult because American Airlines refuses to fly to Venezuela. Yet this delegation found the embattled country lively and safe. While delegation members were stuck on the ground until further notice, they livestreamed yesterday.

During their five days in Venezuela, delegation members met with movement leaders and government officials, including President Nicolás Maduro Moros, who recorded a solidarity message that is posted on Twitter and Facebook.

The delegation also visited a community garden in Caracas on the invitation of Minister of Agriculture and Lands Wilmar Castro Soteldo. Delegation members were asked to plant seeds. Check out delegation member Popular Resistance’s on-the-ground videos on its Twitter feed.

You can see below Black Alliance for Peace (BAP) National Organizer, U.S. Peace Council Executive Board member and delegation co-leader Ajamu Baraka speaking to the media. Also seen are International Action Center Co-director Sara Flounders and United National Antiwar Coalition Co-coordinator Joe Lombardo. [also in the tweet in the OP]

Ajamu also did a lengthy interview with Telesur that will air next week.

After the delegation returns to the United States, it will report its initial findings at a press conference at the United Nations that will be postponed from its original March 18 date to accommodate the delegation’s travel changes.

However, the U.S. Peace Council, which organized this delegation, still plans to hold a public conference call at 7 p.m., Eastern Time, on Monday.

BAP invites all defenders of peace, social justice, international law and national sovereignty to join us on this conference call.

Please register for the March 18 public call.

After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.

Back in the United States, a BAP representative will speak at noon today at the ANSWER Coalition’s demonstration in front of the White House, in opposition to the U.S. intervention in Venezuela. Also join anti-NATO events from March 30 through April 4, which will include a BAP-organized street action and evening panel discussion on April 4.

Please consider supporting us with a generous donation. We need to raise $5,000 to cover travel, food and accommodations for our activists during this period of agitation.

No compromise.

No retreat.

Struggle to win,
Ajamu, Jaribu, Margaret, Netfa, Paul, Vanessa and YahNé

P.S. We are completely dependent on the people. Contribute to BAP’s efforts to agitate around Venezuela.

newsletter today: 'Venezuela: 'US Imperialism Is Based On Lies And Threats', Kevin Zeese and Margaret Flowers (some outtakes)

"Our delegation met with community groups, political parties and members of the government, including a private meeting with President Maduro. One theme that became obvious during the visit is that the United States’ imperialism is fundamentally weak. It relies on lies and bullying threats to get its way. So far, Venezuelans are resisting everything the US and its allies are throwing at it, but they remain vigilant and concerned about an escalation of attacks.

Venezuela Unites in Response To US Attack on Electrical Grid

The attack on Venezuela’s electrical grid began on March 7 and continued for several days. The outage made life difficult for Venezuelans. Without electricity, water pumps could not bring water to people’s homes, refrigerators weren’t working and the subway couldn’t run.

People lined up to fill buckets with water. Lights were on, but not everywhere. When we talked to residents, we learned how they came to their neighbor’s aid, sharing food and water. Despite years of economic difficulties caused by US and allied countries’ sanctions, there were no reports of looting or unrest in Caracas. Venezuelans remained calm and steady while confronting the challenges of the blackout. School and work were cancelled until March 14, but some people were out anyway and a few shops were open.

Maduro explained that the attack on the electrical grid came from the United States. There is evidence it emanated from Houston, the home of the company that provided infrastructure for the grid, and Chicago. There were also attacks on power lines and substations inside Venezuela. When a section was repaired, it would be attacked again.

Maduro told us the plan had been for the attack on the electrical grid to cause chaos and confusion in order to provide an excuse for US intervention. The plan failed. Venezuelans realized this was part of the US-led coup campaign, and rather than becoming divided, they united.

Russia confirmed the Venezuela account and said it was supported by other evidence. The Grayzone reported on a 2010 memo [CANVAS] about regime change in Venezuela, which included discussion of an attack on the electrical grid to cause a blackout and chaos. The US tried to sabotage the Iranian electrical grid and has used electricity attacks in previous coups, so this is part of the US coup playbook.

During our stay, CNN also reported that the drone assassination attempt against President Maduro last August was organized in Colombia and that the US was in close contact with the assassination plotters.

The self-appointed coup’s Juan Gaido worked with the United States, which caused the blackout and their hardships. Gauido is being investigated for his involvement in the electrical attack. He is allied with countries waging an economic war that is causing financial distress, and he is calling for foreign military intervention, a traitorous action."

then sections on:

The US Embassy is Forced to Close
Guaido Is the Butt of Jokes In Venezuela, Not Legitimate Under the Constitution
Solidarity With Venezuela Is Essential

and again, for people like ro Khanna, the DSAs and 'progressive' signatories to their 'Dear Pompeo' letter, first criminalizing him, then calling his election 'illegal', etc.:

"This contrasts with the legitimacy of President Maduro. This week, international election observers wrote the European Union telling them they were “unanimous in concluding that the elections were conducted fairly, that the election conditions were not biased.” They described EU claims as “fabrications of the most disgraceful kind.” We described in detail the legitimacy of the elections and other essential facts activists need to know about this US coup."

i have no idea as i don't see or read much msm news. but i did see complaints on twitter that twitter was semi-censoring the tweets of large crowds as 'sensitive', i guess as in 'view at your own risk'.

maybe others will know, although i doubt many more folks will stop by.

@wendy davis Searched Max Blumenthal's twitter and found this:

Twitter is marking completely normal crowd photos from @telesurenglish of the #HandsOffVenezuela march today in DC as sensitive content. This is absurd and demonizes Venezuela solidarity and political protest.
