1960 AMC Rambler Americano

I got ramblin' on my mind. Robert Johnson 1936

Welcome all you cool cats. Remember any of this?
~
Way back when...
And more recently
The thought train is leaving the station 'bout quarter past nine. Hope y'all can catch it!

Blank canvas, so scribble away. Gotta put on my boogying shoes. Ride like the wind. Screw. Get outta Dodge. Make like a tree and leaf. Foregone conclusion. The rest is all behind.

Which leads to: where ya' going with this?
And then the longer version: if you got the time, I got the dime ~
“Les Gilets Jaunes — a bright-yellow sign of distress”

By the way, the article says “Germany doesn’t want to share economic power with states it considers irresponsible spendthrifts” — I would add that France for its part doesn’t want to share military power over its nuclear weapons with anyone either, despite Macron’s push for creation of an E.U. quasi-federal military — E.U. supranational armed forces under E.U. supranational command.
Thanks jbob
It's great to hear Mr. Crosby still in sweet singing voice. And the young-uns harmonize well together.
surely the French are expressing an anger
Which goes beyond the price of diesel?
Are you watching what is going on in MI & WI
The GOP smash and grab as they go out the door ought to be criminal. I propose a law requiring a vote of the people to modify or repeal that declares a legislator/judge a lame duck on the day he loses and bans him/her from voting or participating in the peoples business in anyway by putting him/her on immediate unpaid leave from the office/appointment he holds. The only thing I hate more than a Democrat is a Republican.
"Religion is what keeps the poor from murdering the rich."--Napoleon
Smash, grab and go
Yes it is criminal that they can get away with it. I agree the peoples law should over rule these old political conventions. Somehow, to enforce them.
I saw two good shows over the last week
David Crosby has a new project called The Lighthouse Band. They are on tour promoting an album they recorded. The lady mixing house sound did a really fine job when I saw them in Albany NY. Four part harmonies in a well balanced mix with the instruments.
Also got to see The Edmar Castaneda Trio. The band line-up was a little different from the video below with a soprano sax instead of trombone. Really great improvisational ramblings during the show.
QMS sez: “Thanks jbob”

(Forwarding a reply to you from QMS that somehow ended up attached to my post about the French gilets jaunes above)
Oops
Thanks Loti. Your linked article explained the French anger very well. Austerity and neo-liberalism seem to be the larger issues. Figures much of the media frames it in simplistic terms.
So now we have Crosby and Nash (the Rambler). Next up -- Still / Young.
Good morning, QMS, iirc, Rambler introduced
fold-down front seats; good for sleeping.
Thanks and have a great day.
edit, correcting auto-play
Yeah, good basic transpo for the time
Was surprised to see it labelled AMC in 1960. Thought that came later. Memory is funny sometimes.
Hi there smiley
Hi randtntx, wonderfuf OT and music today; returned home to
catch up; listening and loving it.

Beep, beep.
My comments are all over the place this morning. Sorry.
A little more from B. Raitt
with Carolyn Wonderland. I just saw C.ynWonderland in concert on Saturday with some other great hard-working Texas musicians. They put on a good show.
How about B. Raitt and John Prine
Always liked this song a lot:

Bonnie working with the best
Chris Smithers, Jackson Browne, John Prine. Great stuff. Thanks!
They work well together
John Prine is a great song writer with beautiful lyrics.

I hear that anyone
old songs never last too long on broken radios
Not sure if he was singing about the aftermath of the Korean 'conflict', but heard it after the Vietnam 'police action'. Lost a few good friends after that one. Solidified my anti-war stance to see these young men suicide with ever stronger mind messers. Morals shattered, lost causes. Now they call them 'operations' and the suicides expand. Could write an essay just on that. Hello in there was another good one, not just about old folks anymore.
Saw Jackson playing an Actor’s Gang (Tim Robbins) benefit
last night. ‘twas awesome...
Cool beans!
Quite a writer ~ both.
Damn, Whatchamacallit, music to the ears, an Actor's Gang
fundraiser; fantastic. Made my evening. Big cheers!
Me too.
Susan Tedeschi gives it a whirl
Very nice.
See ya in wonderland
Rockin' jam. Personal responsibility. Praise be!
Another on the bill
was Marcia Ball who is an old favorite around these parts.

Yummy. Was looking for 'That's enough of that stuff', but only found 'Red Hot'. Thanks!
Yup.
I'm not sure
about what is going on in France but it looks like perhaps the people have had enough? They have been here before and seem to know it.
C'est la vie
A French phrase meaning that’s life, used to comment philosophically on a reverse or disappointment.

Good morning, QMS. Slept in today and have many morning
errands to run, so I'll just leave the thjought train parked until I finish them. From the looks of it, I'm sonna have to spend all afternoon listening to the morning thread, so I can comment, if I should have anything to say, then. Jaques Brel even shows up, wow.
That, in its essence, is fascism--ownership of government by an individual, by a group, or by any other controlling private power. -- Franklin D. Roosevelt --
No worries
I never achieved that quasi-state of woke today either. Just winging it. The thought train done left the station without me. Fortunately, many good folks pitched in to make it something worthy. Now to climb into the Studebaker and roll out to the store.
Morning QMS
I hope your canvas is being drawn with some nice colours today.
Looking forward to listening to the music later.
Yes, somehow the respondents helped to colour
what was your basic blank sheet. Rambling ideas became a car, then a song. The brain train left NYC onto France and came back with Bonnie Raitt and Johnny Prine, with a brief stop in Texas. It was a fun ride. How is your bamboo battle going?
From NYC to France
I hope you enjoyed your travels.

60 Rambler WAGON was the bomb
Just kidding, but I grew up in one. Color was booger green. My folks bought it new for I think 2K in 1960. I was 5. It lasted four years of birding on some bad roads until 64 when it was worth about nothing. It was a great car though. Somehow a family with 4 little kids camped all over AZ and CA in it for four years, until we graduated to the $2400 '64 VW microbus. Which was you guessed it booger green.
Can't talk ramblin' without this:
We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.
Look deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better.

In the darkest depths of Morda
Great song. Thanks! Yeah, we had a Studebaker wagon with an electric back window, the roof slid forward and it became a pick-em up truck (sorta). Like the one Wilbur had on Mr. Ed. Pretty cool. The Lark we had was black with red interior. Used to love to pretend to drive in that sedan. Had to share it with the wasps. My brother totaled his Rambler American. Three on the tree, an old utility company car. Come to think of it, he totaled every other car he drove. Not a good driver.
Cheers.
