By the way, the article says “Germany doesn’t want to share economic power with states it considers irresponsible spendthrifts” — I would add that France for its part doesn’t want to share military power over its nuclear weapons with anyone either, despite Macron’s push for creation of an E.U. quasi-federal military — E.U. supranational armed forces under E.U. supranational command.

The GOP smash and grab as they go out the door ought to be criminal. I propose a law requiring a vote of the people to modify or repeal that declares a legislator/judge a lame duck on the day he loses and bans him/her from voting or participating in the peoples business in anyway by putting him/her on immediate unpaid leave from the office/appointment he holds. The only thing I hate more than a Democrat is a Republican.

Yes it is criminal that they can get away with it. I agree the peoples law should over rule these old political conventions. Somehow, to enforce them.
I saw two good shows over the last week
David Crosby has a new project called The Lighthouse Band. They are on tour promoting an album they recorded. The lady mixing house sound did a really fine job when I saw them in Albany NY. Four part harmonies in a well balanced mix with the instruments.
Also got to see The Edmar Castaneda Trio. The band line-up was a little different from the video below with a soprano sax instead of trombone. Really great improvisational ramblings during the show.

Thanks Loti. Your linked article explained the French anger very well. Austerity and neo-liberalism seem to be the larger issues. Figures much of the media frames it in simplistic terms.

Not sure if he was singing about the aftermath of the Korean 'conflict', but heard it after the Vietnam 'police action'. Lost a few good friends after that one. Solidified my anti-war stance to see these young men suicide with ever stronger mind messers. Morals shattered, lost causes. Now they call them 'operations' and the suicides expand. Could write an essay just on that. Hello in there was another good one, not just about old folks anymore.

I never achieved that quasi-state of woke today either. Just winging it. The thought train done left the station without me. Fortunately, many good folks pitched in to make it something worthy. Now to climb into the Studebaker and roll out to the store.

what was your basic blank sheet. Rambling ideas became a car, then a song. The brain train left NYC onto France and came back with Bonnie Raitt and Johnny Prine, with a brief stop in Texas. It was a fun ride. How is your bamboo battle going?

60 Rambler WAGON was the bomb
Just kidding, but I grew up in one. Color was booger green. My folks bought it new for I think 2K in 1960. I was 5. It lasted four years of birding on some bad roads until 64 when it was worth about nothing. It was a great car though. Somehow a family with 4 little kids camped all over AZ and CA in it for four years, until we graduated to the $2400 '64 VW microbus. Which was you guessed it booger green.

Great song. Thanks! Yeah, we had a Studebaker wagon with an electric back window, the roof slid forward and it became a pick-em up truck (sorta). Like the one Wilbur had on Mr. Ed. Pretty cool. The Lark we had was black with red interior. Used to love to pretend to drive in that sedan. Had to share it with the wasps. My brother totaled his Rambler American. Three on the tree, an old utility company car. Come to think of it, he totaled every other car he drove. Not a good driver.
