Day seven: Great Sand Dunes, Mesa Verde and The Grand Canyon should be behind me and Los Angeles just beyond the horizon.

Riding the back roads, listening to the iPod.

I hope the pop culture news propaganda cycle is not causing you too much consternation.

I am looking forward to visiting the big trees.

Time to roll, I will regale you with embellished stories later.

Your trip sounds wonderful!

My sixteen (17 on Tues) son is learning to ride a motorcycle. Right now on a dirt bike on a trail my husband (also a motorcycle lover) mowed for him on our place.

I look forward to hearing your embellished stories!

@Tall Bald and Ugly Every Mojave rest stop, to hydrate. The coastal trees are considerably west of the Sierra Nevada groves. The budget, both time and money, forces me to start east after Yosemite.

So the crime is that Stormi put her boobs in the faces of 3 undercover cops while exotic dancing.
Gee thank gawd Columbus is so devoid of crime that the police can devote 3 detectives to make an arrest for a violent crime such as boob-on-face touching. Hahaha.

Police said Daniels' arrest was part of a long-term human trafficking investigation of adult clubs. They said they have made numerous arrests under the no-touching law but did not immediately provide a number.

I call bullshit on that. If the investigation is for human trafficking, why the hell would the cops blow their covers for a simple case of boob-on-face touching in a club filled with consenting adults.

Daniels' lawyer called for an investigation into the arrest, saying some of the officers had what appeared to be "very Pro-Trump" social media pages.
Well surprise, surprise! F__king MAGA cops. It figures.

a good spot for cheese, crackers and a good red. Out on the northern periphery there are some spots with truly awesome views, unless I'm thinking of the Mariposa Grove, can't ever be sure.

The big trees are incredible...both the Sequoia and the Redwood

Sequoiadendron giganteum is the sole living species in the genus Sequoiadendron, and one of three species of coniferous trees known as redwoods

Just finished a great book about the big trees by Richard Powers called 'The Overstory'. Promotes the notion that earth's trees have been around longer than people, we share a portion of the DNA code. Interesting take on how trees communicate with each other and nature. Ride on.

Somehow, while I was sick I guess, I missed the posts about riverlover, and only learned about losing her in the last couple of days. I continue to miss her presence, especially in the open threads. I think each of us impacts the lives of others in ways we don't even guess at. Sometimes we are important to or influence people we barely know. And that is true for even shy, mostly silent people. We are all important.
I'm wishing all of you a great summer weekend.
