OT ~ Welcome to Saturday!
Sit-a-while
on swinging porch
where tin-dippers and
sweet water
in cool touches
meet lips
from hand dug wells.
Good morning good people,
“Child, child, have patience and belief, for life is many days, and each present hour will pass away. Son, son, you have been mad and drunken, furious and wild, filled with hatred and despair, and all the dark confusions of the soul - but so have we. You found the earth too great for your one life, you found your brain and sinew smaller than the hunger and desire that fed on them - but it has been this way with all men. You have stumbled on in darkness, you have been pulled in opposite directions, you have faltered, you have missed the way, but, child, this is the chronicle of the earth. And now, because you have known madness and despair, and because you will grow desperate again before you come to evening, we who have stormed the ramparts of the furious earth and been hurled back, we who have been maddened by the unknowable and bitter mystery of love, we who have hungered after fame and savored all of life, the tumult, pain, and frenzy, and now sit quietly by our windows watching all that henceforth never more shall touch us - we call upon you to take heart, for we can swear to you that these things pass.”
~~Thomas Wolfe, You Can't Go Home Again
"One night many years ago, a French family was driving through the North Region of Cameroon when they ran out of gas. As they scrambled to refill the tank, the car was surrounded by a pride of lions. To protect their young daughter, the parents locked her in a metal trunk.
The animals circled the vehicle continuously, and to distract herself from danger the girl repeated her own name. Over the years, the story of the little blond French girl besieged by lions became something of a legend in the area. It was said by some that she had survived for fifteen days under the hot African sun. ~ https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2018/05/28/the-fearless-cinema-of-cla..."
Enjoyed this read; would like to see her movies. "Unlike her characters, who tend to be laconic and aloof, and her narratives, which are elliptical and enigmatic, Denis speaks fluently, linearly, and sometimes at great length, with an instinctual command of pacing, foreshadowing, and suspense. Much of what she said to me was expressed in the form of stories, which she delivered as if for the first time."
Saw the sun for a few hours yesterday afternoon, heavy rain overnight, roaring rivers and trouble for folks a few miles away. We've all a big party to attend this afternoon: a house-warming hosted by my great young girlfriend who purchased a starter home, a fixer-upper, in winter and today, they share their work with us, mostly my ski friends. Her mate is a national champion downhill bike-rider and her parties draw a wonderful group of people engaged in all sorts of things, looking forward to the friendship hugs and laughs.

good morning smiley and friends
Still wet here too. A light drizzle this AM killed the flea (trade day), so I'm home this morning. Looks like we'll finally dry out next week. Hope y'all avoid any flooding, and the house warming is a great success.
Our young friend graduated college and returned last night to our regular session. He is playing better than ever. Oh the strength and talent of youth. I'm still recovering from last weeks FL folk fest. It was a good reunion and many tunes and songs were shared including this one:

Have a good Saturday!
“Until justice rolls down like water and righteousness like a mighty stream.”
Boy, that's been a while, thanks.

Lovely tune, Lookout, agree, the younger kids sustain me
as well. Heard yesterday that the Wilson Creek area is really taking the abuse, like two weeks ago when i was trapped down there. Don't know about the Mabel community. Will be just outside Linville today on the river and the high plateau that forms that community, but, the river should be cooking there as well.
Have a good one and cheers for the music.
Good morning, smiley7, sounds like you have your day blocked
out. We start with [ stuff to do ] and then ramble down to the farmers' market, and then it's more empty time until time to start dinner. Maybe some irrigation system repairs, but my back is way cranky, so maybe not. At some point, we need to kick around the primry, so maybe today, who knows. Thanks for Tim's tunes. (heh)

Morning, el; "iolanthe, shall we priumbulate through the garden
spotting bullfinches or butterflies as they mate?"
Have a good one in hopes the back takes a lesser position of awareness.
Nice . . .
Too exhausted to say much, but this was delightful.

Those young artists of the twenties seemed to have matured,
matriculated faster than other generations. It's long been a surprise to me that Wolfe, in particular, could reach so deep with his relatively young pen.
Happy to bring a little delight, glad you enjoyed.
Hoping this morning finds you rested and ready for a wonderful day, cheers.

When a movable feast becomes a virtual one, we've had
a good day; thanks for the beautiful music!
Regarding Snowden
the right thing
pardon
Would love to sit down and talk to Snowden...
remarkable person, he is; nerves of steel, no doubt.
Thanks for bringing this news, gjohnsit!
