Smoke on the mountain
Recent swarms of tremors under Mt. Rainier and Mt. Hood, 1100 in the last month, portend a risk of future eruption.
Mt Hood has seen a puff of smoke or steam on July 28th that scientists are describing as venting.
Both of these volcanoes have a long history of major eruptions and along with Mt. St. Helens, sit on the eastern edge of the Pacific Plate. Mt St. Helens blew its top in 1980.
The July 29th 8.8 magnitude quake off of the coast of Russia and the major volcanic eruption of Krasheninnikov volcano yesterday have experts wondering if they are related events. They were within days of each other and all of them sit on the edges of the Ring of Fire.
I'm no expert, but since a plate suggests a structure having two opposing edges and, when it moves in one direction (subduction) it creates a void on the other side? Or, for every action there is an equal but opposite reaction?
I would suppose that if the Pacific Plate were moving north it would collide with both the Eurasian and the North American Plates and be sliding under them both.
Either way, it looks like more activity can be expected in the near future as the Pacific Plate has no where else to go, unless it changes course and bounces south.
Still not sure if living with semi-predictable tornadoes, hurricanes, and catastrophic floods are safer than earthquakes and volcanoes.

I believe that today, August 5th, will be a bit shorter than the usual 24 hours. The outer crust of the planet is spinning a little faster than the molten center of the earth. I also read that the earth has shifted 31 inches off its normal tilt this year. Oh yes, and there is some object in the solar system headed toward earth, that appears to be 'manufactured.'

The Juan de Fuca plate, a small remnant of the long ago subducted Fallaron plate is up there in between the Pacific and North American plates. It is a tiny little slip of a thing as plates go, and it is being subducted along the cascadia subduction zone. It's named after some dude who sailed for Philip the Sap who claimed to have explored the strait between Vancouver Island and the Olympic Peninsula. He was Greek but his name, obviously, isn't. It is the latinization of something Greek but there is some uncertainty as to what, in fact, his real name was. Now, that said, do you give a shit?
Perhaps we should've begun making human offerings to Mt. St. Helens after it went off on the chance that it might placate the entire range?

Seems it is just a crumb that is being pushed under the North American Plate. But it would be interesting to see what happens between those two plates as the JdF goes down forever. Not in my lifetime though, and on that timescale, no, I don't give a shit anymore.
