Perceptions

Good day c99%. leastwise hope it is for y'all. The inspiration for this open thread comes from many of the fascinating posts floating about this place lately. I can't say much new, as most of the hot button issues have already been aired out. We know where most stand in relation to them.

It is good to see the recent influx of new commenters around this site. Perhaps this format resonates with more people as a way to express opinions in an enlightened atmosphere. Distilling the truth out of the noise machine is challenging, Having a community of similarly focused minds helps. I hope the progressive voice continues to gain in volume. Might make us whole again.

Trying desperately to wrap my brain around the outcome of the destruction wrought by the US military around the globe. It seems some other countries are now banding together to sideline America's Imperialism with a workaround to the petrodollar. Makes sense. The rest of the world is rightfully concerned for the continued survival of our planet. Mas que nada.

We can try to transform the optics back to the peace loving species so many are. Just say "no more war". Wish it was that easy Nancy.

It's still early, but I envision good things here today. Namaste

taking all the money we waste on imperialist corporate wars and re-investing that money in a jobs program with a living wage job for all who want one. While I'm at it let's include a rapid transition off of fossil fuels and toward a green economy.

Quite an imagination huh?

"Day of Action" under the imprimatur of Mazaska Talks, an indigenous led coalition of activists and organizations. The idea if to protest banking activities that finance climate change and exploitation of indigenous peoples, and more. This is timed to coincide with a meeting of 92 of the world's largest banks in Sao Paulo. The e-mail linked a page at action network with more information:

What beautiful fall weather we are having. Indian summer in all its glory. Sunshine and 70 -80 degrees. Showers here or there, but nothing major until tonight. A good soaker before plants go dormant and a beautiful 75 and sunny for the weekend.

The fires in CA are incredible. One thing about Michigan, our weather is mostly non-violent. No hurricanes, earthquakes, wildfires, or tornadoes. Sure a misc event here or there, but we are not a regular target for any of them.

@dkmich driving out to Michigan tomorrow, about 850 miles, probably stop 1/2 way mid PA. Only as far as the south central region, but really looking forward to it. Haven't seen my friends for years The car gets 70 mpg, so just one more fill on the way (10 gal. tank). Have a good one!

The manager of the local Dollar General store . . . closet intellectual, military as a youth then traveled the world as a professional DJ . . . told me that namaste meant "I see in you." Beautiful.

Wikipedia defines it as:

Namaḥ means 'bow', 'obeisance', 'reverential salutation' or 'adoration'[10] and te means 'to you' (singular dative case of 'tvam'). Therefore, Namaste literally means "bowing to you". [11] In Hinduism, it also has a spiritual import reflecting the belief that "the divine and self (atman, soul) is same in you and me", and connotes "I bow to the divine in you".

I love this word.

And Jesus taught it too:

so that they may be one as We are one — I in them and You in Me — that they may be perfectly united, so that the world may know that You sent Me and have loved them just as You have loved Me.

So . . .

Namaste
