Friday Photography - Skylight, Sunlight, Moonlight, and Eclipse Light
Submitted by janis b on Fri, 08/18/2017 - 3:10pm
Good evening all. If you’re in the same position as I because you didn’t buy your solar eclipse glasses early enough, you probably won’t find them now. But, you can safely view the eclipse by making a very simple pinhole projector. Here are two links …

The mysterious looking top photo is the result of trying for the first time ‘invert’ in photoshop. Magically, the blues became yellows, the yellow became blue, and white turned to black (and vice versa). I like the effect.
I left lots of room on the wall for everyone to hang their photos …

Thanks for hosting Janis. Also thanks for explaining how your first picture came about.
Little buggers have great depth perception so sneaking up on one is a chore. I wanted to get closer but they all said "NO".
Regardless of the path in life I chose, I realize it's always forward, never straight.
Hi Pricknick
It seems you have a very close relationship with spiders. Wouldn't it be nice to share their quality of depth perception. The colours are beautiful. Thank you.
Hi janis...
Love the invert!
A little music for enjoying the evening's photos.
Damn smiley, that’s fantastic!
Somewhere in between moonlight and eclipse light, I’d say.

Very funny Bollox
The Trubble telescope. looks like some very lush life exists on that moon.
Still no time for any outdoor photoshoots
So I've been documenting my camera/lens accumulation.
This is just some of the cameras...many more lenses still to photograph...

Thank you Ben.
What a wonderful historical record. If I could create my own individual camera from the variety you've shown, I'd choose the texture and shape of the body of the K 1000, the 'eyeball' flash, and a splash of red.
The eyeball isn't a flash

I did wonder about that attachment.
I really like the surreal look of the camera, and the surreal images it is capable of producing.

You must have a very large camera bag.

I wish I could afford to use most of these
Most of the time i spent shooting was cleaning the dust off of them

edit: If i comment, i should contribute...
I'm not very good, Janis, in computer tech or cameras or software, i have a good camera a friend gave me and point and shoot. You folks are great and you are a caring friend to us all!
Edit: meaning, most Fridays, i enjoy, without commenting, but the invert is special and so, as always, your music.
Old photo of son's encaustic work.
Thank you smiley for your contribution and your son’s work.
I recently watched a demonstration that an artist working in the medium of encaustic presented. I was totally captivated by the process and the materials, and am determined to try it some time. The intoxicating smell of the warm beeswax, the meditative layering of many layers, the impressions made by natural materials, the painting in with dye and copper foil of the impressions and more was so amazing to me. And in addition, the imprinting of graphic images (like your son’s), reminiscent of photography, made it even more enticing.
Hi, Smiley--good to see you! Fortunately,
even non-photographers (like me) are tolerated in the Photography Thread, as is the posting of screenshots and/or stock photos. So, please don't hesitate to post your photos, or your son's lovely work.
And, as always, thank you for the tune.
Have a nice weekend!

Late to the Party, but 'thank you' Janis
for the interesting photos, and for posting tonight's Photography OT, which I always look forward to on Friday evenings. And, thanks to all the other C99P photographers for sharing their work.
I'm completely pooped out this evening, so I won't give anything background for the photo below, except to say that James went on to earn the title of Westminster BIS in 2007. This fall, I'll post what I figure is his 'formal' photo, and a photo with his handler when he won Westminster. James has to be one of the most perfect specimens of his breed that I've ever seen--in person, or in photo.

He's absolutely beautiful and very poised.
And I love the photo itself, with its bold colours. Thanks as always Mollie.

Nice utilitarian view from my little deck on the second floor. I like being distracted by squirrels, but that cable box drives me nuts. I can hear it buzzing, constantly. It never stops. Ever. Unless the power goes out, and then a cableguy comes and hangs a noisy gas generator off the pole until it's restored. Thanks goodness for ear plugs, and ear buds, and headphones. Whatever works.
Blue Dream cannabis hybrid USB microscope x60 "works for me".
good luck
Hey there eyo
Blue Dream looks succulently delicious.
Maybe you could gather signatures from neighbours to request from the town that they insulate the box from the noise? Squirrels are quite entertaining, aren't they.
Neighbors and noise
Makes me lol to remember how obsessive I was protecting my hearing around loud machinery all those years. So I could have such sensitive ears to hear that box buzzing constantly? Heh, that seems funny now. Thanks.
good luck
Great photos and info for a very super-tech

I'm so glad you appreciate our contributions. Technology is the least part of it. Give it a go.
