Polls: Democrats are so discouraged they are willing to vote third-party
Submitted by gjohnsit on Wed, 07/19/2017 - 5:39pm
Most people don't like Republicans or their policies.
However, Democrats still haven't given people reason to vote.
A Washington Post-ABC News poll offers conflicting forecasts for the 2018 midterm elections, with voters clearly preferring Democrats in control of Congress to check President Trump even as Republicans appear more motivated to show up at the polls.
This poll actually understates how much the Democratic Party has failed to inspire it's voters. For a true measurement you'll need to look at this poll.
An icitizen survey released Monday found that most Democrats — 60 percent — were likely to consider voting for a third-party presidential candidate in three years, compared with just 29 percent of Republicans.
Among unaffiliated voters, the figure was 76 percent.
...
“With news of a petition to ‘Draft Bernie [Sanders] For President,’ many groups are looking to create a new party and make a run in 2020,” said the icitizen analysis.
The poll had good news for Berniecrats, Libertarians and Greens: 70 percent of those surveyed agreed that third parties are necessary and that the two major parties “do not represent them well.”
At this point someone more clever than I should say something about the Whig Party and Democrats.
58% of Democrats want new leadership, but the Democratic establishment absolutely refuses to let that happen.
52% say the Dems don't stand for anything.
Comments
The 'Democratic' 'Party'
is just happy that it doesn't actually have dues paying, individual members who can vote for the leadership via ballot (see Labour, J. Corbyn).
Being a registered Dem is a very different thing. The donors choose for you. "Embrace the suck", and "Eat your peas". Nutritionally very poor.

thank you!
Thank you! I'm borrowing my Mom's laptop right now, so I can make my rounds here... I suspect that as soon as I get a replacement keyboard for mine, it'll be back on the air. I was able to bring iut up, but still no KB functions....
And, as always, great to "see" you, CSTMS!

I don't know how you feel about Amazon, but I got a keyboard
From them recently for my 3rd computer (Yes, I am a dork, I have 3 computers, 4 monitors plus a tablet on a stand so I can multi-task projects while also playing a game and streaming podcasts, lol!)
They have a combo keyboard and mouse on sale right now for under $15 and eligible for Prime shipping or just a keyboard for $12.99.
I got just the keyboard because I use high resolution gaming mice but the keyboard is pretty damn solid with good key response and feel. It's not quite up to the level of my Razer Black Widow Ultimate, but for the price it's a damn good deal. (And now I am pissed because when looking it up I see it dropped $30 in price since I purchased it, and if you do want a really great keyboard with old school mechanical style keys (Durable and very responsive, those that actually learned how to type back in the days of a Typewriter will really love the feel of the keystrokes.)
Oh great, now I am double pissed, they got a refurb model of mine now for $50, lol!
I really like the back light feature (and how you can change the colors or even have it cycle through the various colors) which makes it much easier to see to type if you spend a lot of your time in a dark room in front of a keyboard.
As an open offer to all my C99P peeps, I am always here to help you guys with troubleshooting computer problems or selecting which new electronic devices to purchase, that is an area where I do have a lot of expertise I can share.
Started out in the early 80's with an old TRS-80 with a cassette tape drive for data storage and 8k of ram and never looked back, lol!

He and I were good friends until the C-64 came out, then the C-128. I skipped the Amiga 500 and waited for the 1000.
Just thinking about it makes me want to dig up my emulator and play some Elite.

I became a Green.

Same here my friend!
Although to be honest I am thinking about just going to "No Party Affiliation" on my registration again. I like a lot of what the greens stand for, but they are so fractured and full of different cliques and their over-sensitivity to language and willingness to take things out of context in order to find offense to be almost as bad as the chronically triggered TOP member.

Same here. I'm all in favor of a third Party
but the Greens aren't it. I'll vote Green locally for sure, but I don't think they've found the right formula to be nationally competitive.
native
I'll never vote Democrat again unless there is no other choice.
And even then, I would probably write someone in or leave it blank than vote for a corporatist. Only true progressives need apply.

As an aside, the Snohomish County Democrats are hosting
a gala next month and Nina Turner is the keynote speaker. I won't be attending as a ticket costs $150. Wish Nina, Bernie, Tulsi et al would pull the chain and dump the Dems once and for all.

A "Gala." They obviously
don't want the hoi polloi rank & file there.

The times they are a changin'
It will take a lot more madness in Washington than we have seen to date in order to convince people to burn the two party system down - but we're getting damn close.
The Republicans have proven they're willing to do that. We almost did it this past election. It's only a matter of time until both major parties go the way of the Whigs.
It's just my opinion. It can't hurt you
We did do it this past election.
We handed the Democratic Party their asses this past election. Knocked them out cold.
What were seeing is their ghost, rattling through reality thinking everything is the same and they are still in control of the "everyday" people. They think they are beloved. They truly believe all the spare votes will come their way because of Trump and because we have no other choice but them. They display this every day in every way — and it is making the public recoil in disgust.
It is just amazing they cannot see this. In my opinion, the Democrats are contaminating their few rising stars with their self-absorbed corruption. They(!), who forced Donald Trump upon the world.

Propaganda polls to try to keep people chained to the
duopoly. Last midterm only 37% of all eligible voters voted and in 2018 it's more than likely going to be less than that. So those poll numbers are very deceiving and don't even tell half the story.

The D's: a "private nonprofit" that selects 1 of 2 Candidates
I remain very interested in the Florida case against the D Party's "collusion" against Bernie Sanders. The D's may, or may not be toast, but they have to change--a lot--and they show no inkling of doing it. I respect Sen. Sander's contention that making a 3rd Party in America really can't be done...the barriers are enormous...but I'm always reminded of the Iron Law of Institutions. 'The people who control institutions care first and foremost about their power within the institution rather than the power of the institution itself.' Witness the metamorphosis of one Howard Dean--who built a 50 state strategy, (which worked!) but felt it more important to climb back into the D' machine than to call Bullshit!
In conclusion, a crazy-pants long read from Politico(!) from Nick Haneuer. http://www.politico.com/magazine/story/2017/07/18/to-my-fellow-plutocrat...

Dems! Wake Up And Smell The Failure!

"They'll say we're disturbing the peace, but there is no peace. What really bothers them is that we are disturbing the war." Howard Zinn
The right wing Democrats that haunt that place
…are pushing back hard on that rant. Their perception of themselves as professional Democrats is awe-inspiring. In all the lengthy comments, at no point did anyone mention the international murder and mayhem that the US is inflicting on the world. Not one word; not a single thought. They have no idea of the deep sickness at the DNC. The whole thing is invisible to them. It's astonishing.

Going back to the toady Schiff who warned early about resistance to Trump could radicalize the base and not be obedient to corporate establishment democrats. Seems like health care is the tip of the spear of that "radicalization". People are not fading into the night when CA-Dems struck at single payer. People are refusing to shut up and threatening political retaliation. Not only that but I wonder how Bernie activists who went over the Hillary must be thinking over the smears and political back stabbing of the establishment.
I don't think Trump will run in 2020. And from what I have been seeing, the dems could easily nominate another mini-Hillary in 2020.

Politicians who please the rich enrich themselves and their families whether they win or lose elections.
Look at the wikis of some who either lost a primary or a general or decided not to run because they knew they'd lose. See what they did after grokking they were too unpopular with ordinary voters to win again. Cantor, Dodd, Lieberman, Daschle, Dean, to name just a few. al.
They're all doing just fine financially and still working the levers of power as lobbyists, think tank employees, etc. And we don't even always know about the benefits flowing to the spouses, kids, friends, etc.
They're just not that into us, nor does it pay them to be.
