Hillary breaks the glass floor

Hillary wanted to set a new standard for women, and she did.

Clinton's current favorable rating is just a few percentage points higher than her all-time low -- 38%, last recorded in late August/early September 2016.
Over the past quarter century, the favorable ratings of losing presidential candidates generally have increased after the election -- some in the immediate aftermath and others in the months that followed.
But for Clinton, this has not been the case. Seven months after her failed bid for the presidency, she remains as unpopular now as she was then.

hillary.png

An all-time first for women. Hillary 2020!

At this point, then, it is unclear when or if Clinton's image will recover. Americans have liked Clinton most when her role was less political -- such as secretary of state or first lady weathering her husband's public scandal -- and her ratings have suffered each time she has run for office.
... Trump, like previous winners, did get an increase in favorability shortly after his win, though his current 40% favorable rating remains low in an absolute sense.

Meanwhile, that Democratic Blue Wave is just barely over the horizon.

@CB @CB Not much of a platform.

Been looking for an old political cartoon I can't find; Obama and MLK are sitting together, and King says: "So, that's my dream. You?" Obama replies "I don't know. I just kind of want to give rich people what they want."

That's basically what happens with all the Clinton-wing Democrats. That's why, if you notice, while failed candidates tend to gain ground after losing elections, both George H.W. Bush and John McCain gained A LOT of ground. And G.H.W. was not a guy who ever won many popularity contests.

You put a Clinton Dem in to replace a Republican, and 6-8 months in, suddenly the people go "What's this crap? I thought we voted for something different!"

@CB I take a different view of what the video shows. It shows that she lost because she is a patently dishonest person who tries to cover her dishonesty with smugness. A deadly combination. 70% of the public found her dishonest and untrustworthy. That is why she lost.

@Cant Stop the Macedonian Signal yep, she came up with all kinds of excuses for why she lost to Trump. The biggest lie imo, was saying that sexism was to blame just because she was a woman. That is utterly ridiculous because her gender had nothing to do with my disdain for her. It was her actions when she was in the White House with Bill. She pushed for welfare reform which at the time threw thousands of women and children into poverty and because of the rules enacted then, threw another thousand people of food stamps a year ago.And all the other legislation she helped him pass that is still affecting us.

Then there was her disastrous foreign policy view that saw millions more women and children being killed or having to leave their homes and countries.

At one time I admired her, but then I got to know her and what she stood for.

So no, sexism isn't the reason I abhor her anymore that racism isn't the reason I abhor Obama. It is their actions and their policies. And that the fact that both of them don't give a good goddam how many people they end up killing as long as the money keeps rolling in.

@snoopydawg is how they so cynically use racism and sexism when any criticism of them gets too close to the truth. Obama completely lost me when he said anyone not supporting his bid for TPP was doing it out of racism. And Hillary and sexism, well her actions speak a lot louder than the claptrap she spews from her mouth. And the smugness and arrogance of the both of them, he hides his well (did anyway), she simply cannot hide it, no matter how hard she tries the contempt for other people comes shining through. In fact the more she tries the worse it gets.

@Steven D I was pissed off about that, at the time (and it wasn't just Limbaugh). At 13, she was a non-combatant and should not have been drawn into political battles.

That's by the old rules, which have now been flushed so far down the historical toilet that the rushing water sound is a distant memory.

Of course, if she tries to trade on that now, she's an ass.

"Look, I take responsibility for every decision I made, but that's not why I lost, so I think it's important that we learn the real lessons from this last campaign," Clinton said during a question and answer session at the 2017 Code Conference.

Notice how weasely - "every decision I made" ... and which decisions would that be? Don't ask!

In any case, her decisions are not why she lost, so they don't matter. But it's important to learn the "real lessons" from the campaign. What lessons? That it wasn't Her fault.

Hilz couldn't take responsibility for anything, even if her own life depended on it. She and her minions started coming up with their blame plans on election night. The people swallowing her bullshit, and especially those regurgitating it, are missing a few critical skills, like thinking, as well as their conscience.

I know I shouldn't laugh but purple keeps haunting, it's all I can do. Clinton can't shake the incumbent label, can't lose it the woods, can't drown it chardonnay, can't buy it a new face. Well maybe, I don't know.

The Last Word with Lawrence O’Donnell, Transcript 5/18/2016

O`DONNELL: And, that is why I make the point that her number never goes
up
. That is the way it works with the incumbents. If an incumbent starts
off with 55 percent of the vote a year out, it is not surprising if they
end up with 55.

Whereas Barack Obama when he was running against Hillary Clinton, he did
not have that incumbency sense to him. So, his numbers rose while hers
went straight down. And, Jeff made the point in the first block that,
“Well, yeah, but Hillary Clinton won some races at the end of the primary
schedule.”

But in every one of those, her number had gone down from where it started
the first time they did a poll in that state. And, so, how does she deal
with the weight of that
. There is an extra weight that comes with that
incumbency sense that is on a campaign, how you make a number go up.
...
MCMAHON: There is an extra way and you got to deal with it and it has gone
down a little bit. But the way you deal with it is by disqualifying your
opponent, which is the way to take your number up. Because a vote against
Donald Trump is a vote for Hillary Clinton and that is what she is going to
do here and you will see a lot of that
.

as our current president. Creatures like Clinton and Blair could easily live in luxury on the wealth they have "earned", and hang out with their 1% friends for the rest of their days... And their kids and grandkids could pick up where they left off, the latter certainly qualifying for reality shows.

Who knows maybe C. Clinton and her hedge fund manager hubbie could actually do something useful in later life that doesn't entail self-aggrandizement of some sort. Doubt it, but people can change.

The entire upper management of the Democratic Party needs to go. Or we will go. Actually, I've been gone for several years now. And definitely no dynasties, be it Clinton, Bush, or Obama.
