Poll: Democrats want a change of leadership
Submitted by gjohnsit on Wed, 06/28/2017 - 11:26am
A call for firing Pelosi and Shumer might elicit chants of "shame! shame!" on the GOS, but those morons don't represent the majority of Democratic voters.
The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that just 31% of Likely Democratic Voters believe the current national leadership of their party is representative of most Democrats. Most (58%) feel instead that the party needs to find new leaders. Eleven percent (11%) are undecided.
By comparison, a plurality (48%) of Likely Republican Voters believes the GOP’s current national leadership is representative of most Republicans. Slightly fewer (45%) say the party needs to find new leaders.
Among all likely voters, only 23% feel the Democratic leadership is representative of their voter base, while 64% think new leadership is needed. Twelve percent (12%) are not sure.
And to think, all it took was to be wiped out on a national level and lose over 1,000 elections.
Just 11% of Democrats said in late April that their party’s efforts to oppose President Trump during his first 100 days in office were successful.
The McResistance isn't convincing. Not even the base.
Also in February, unsuccessful presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders was the first choice of Democrats to run against Trump in 2020, with Hillary Clinton in second.
And I suppose you want a pony too!
Comments
Yes! I want a whole team of ponies!
I want all the ponies that they have been promising me since I first registered to vote in 1966!
And I want to keep the ponies that FDR and LBJ gave me, not "means test" them and turn them into welfare programs.
And I want one big draft horse, Universal Basic Income big enough to live on so we can eliminate welfare as we know it. No bureaucracy. No examinations. No lawyers. Just electronic funds transfer to all citizens every month.
I've seen lots of changes. What doesn't change is people. Same old hairless apes.

Dems have had their lot
A bunch of my younger, CA and NY twitter friends still think the dems are winning, and I forgive them because they're young, stupid, rich, or some combination thereof.
Reality is that the instant you publicly say Hillary was as bad, if not worse than Trump, people agree with you. Not publicly in the media, of course, where the 1% have spent millions on trolls to crush that message, but in face to face conversation. The dems are losing the dinner table, not through the intimidation of Uncle Earl, but because even Aunt Rhapsody Moonbeam can see that the resistance is made up of Brooks Brothers Riot rejects.
I do not pretend I know what I do not know.
Young? Eh, maybe not so much
My experience finds that our youth are not so easily fooled. So much so, that I can nearly assume when talking to a young adult that they understand the rasher of bullshit that's being floated. In large part, they don't seem to be falling for the foul effluence spewing from either the D's or the R's.
Young to following politics, maybe?
As always, YMMV. Just what I'm noticing.

Fat chance of Pelosi or Schumer stepping down
without a fight. They will stay in power until at least 2018 and probably longer, unless either decides to retire from public service for some unrelated reason such as poor health.

I've been house/pet sitting. The person
I'm doing it for (to pay off a debt) has almost destroyed my faith in humanity. She programs her television in advance to record her 'shows'.She was all upset because while I was sitting here trapped with the dog and the construction crew renovating her house, I overrode Dog the Bounty Hunter and 16 and Pregnant (who knew that crap was still on??), shows about a bevy of slutty women, and a few other bizarre low IQ trash 'shows' like that. WTF??? This is a woman who has a great job, has a position of responsibility, makes REALLY good money, and seems like a normal person. But she is fascinated by this garbage. She's programmed hours of this crap.
She is not alone. Millions of people in this country, on this planet, are so damn screwed up that they watch this shit. The freaking dumber the show, movie, music, the more popular it is. We are surrounded by millions who think the Kardashian/Jenner bunch are people to admire and emulate. IMO that crap is starting to show up in our daily culture. I am a child of the 60s. We were pretty 'far out' but I can promise you that anyone who suggested wearing a 'pussy' hat to a demonstration for women's rights or civil rights, or anything else, would have been laughed at and shunned. No one would have taken her seriously. And no over-the-hill old female pop singer would have dared to offer blow jobs in return for votes, jokingly or otherwise. Crude and stupid is the freaking order of the day. It's almost like intelligence and dignified behavior are now illegal.
I believe that people are getting dumber and dumber by the minute. I expect very little from my fellow citizens anymore.

at least in part, because they watch too much of this trash. Way too much. If every teevee set in America were to somehow be disabled for just one month, I believe we would see an immediate and substantial improvement in everyone's mental and physical health.

you are what you eat.
You are absolutely right. I've watched more tv in
the last 2 weeks than in that last two years combined. But I've watched every flavor of Law and Order there is. At least it doesn't kill brain cells. At home if I watch I watch PBS but it's not on this cable bullshit. Or if it is, between her programming, a remote that I can't figure out, and no idea where the Hell to find the PBS stations, I just stick with that stuff or read. Last week I put away 2 books. I need to wait to get my SS so I can go to the used book store for some more reading material, and that won't be for another week. So it'll probably be me and Olivia and Mike and Ed and Munch and Detectives Goran and Eames for another week.

No, probably not. But WTF? I was just accused of 'betraying a
Trust' on a par with neutering her cats (even though she had dogs) so how much worse could shooting the squawk box be?

That Id like to smash in.
Beware the bullshit factories.
Pay it no mind. It was merely a fit of pique.
native
I'd be upset too no matter what the shows were.
I suppose you'd be mad if she got upset because you neutered her cats?
I've seen lots of changes. What doesn't change is people. Same old hairless apes.
I didn't abuse ANYBODY's trust. I was told I 'could watch
the television". Here's a bit of info I left out of the original story, I have nothing to sit on but the floor. Her furniture is icovered in plastic and off limits. Because I am working off a debt I have no right to complain. There is a company that has 4 guys and they are working on renovating her house. Today I was supposed to sit on the stairs to the basement to make sure "no one working down there walked out with" any of her precious junk. She is abusive to them as well. She is a hoarder and there are piles of crap almost up to the ceiling in half the house with pathways around and through it that these other poor schmucks have to work in. I would say almost half of it is still in boxes and ups/ fed ex packages that have NEVER been opened. I am NOT a security guard and didn't sign up for this abuse and the workmen are tired of the unspoken insinuation that they are all thieves that are just milking her for money and sitting around on their asses because things aren't getting done as fast as she'd like.
I bring my own fucking food and things to drink. I am not allowed to take a Coke of a bottle of water. Although I am mainly there to watch a dog, she has made me responsible for everything her workmen do wrong or that she is unhappy with. The day the painters got some paint on the floor she threw fits. I somehow should have prevented it or fixed it. She just got off the phone an hour ago after laying into me for something else they did today that doesn't meet her approval. I don't think I will ever go back no matter what she threatens.
These poor guys working there are tired of it as well and wish they'd never agreed to work for her. See, they need work and she said she would make the place 'accessible'. Now they're just trying to get done so she doesn't sue them for not 'fulfilling' the contract. This is what people who NEED money put up with to get work. Or in my case, to pay off a debt (a loan to keep my gas on). And people with money can really stick it to people who have none. Are they too 'betraying a trust'?
So until unless you know the whole story you need to keep your opinions to yourself and stick to the original subject. My changing a television channel is like neutering her cats???? 1) it's DOGS , cool guy, not cats;, and, 2) missing an episode of Dog the Bounty Hunter is a not 'betrayal of trust' since she did say I could (sit in the floor and) watch tv. Her abusing everyone around her is a betrayal of 'trust"; and 3). It probably saved a few brain cells from a cruel death.
You should have stuck to the original discussion and not tried make this story fit your own dramatic scenario and making it all about things about which you're totally ignorant.
EDIT: the/they - noted in order not to 'betray' any imagined trust or neuter any fucking cats.

@ Amanda Matthews, right you are, fight back
to those who want to make you feel guilty or ashamed or untrustworthy. It's bs.
imo experience the reason why so many of the Democrat elite or othrs in the power that is, never represent the struggling small d democrat people, is, because they never suffered under poverty or under serving the military and being forced to risk their lives in wars that the US should never have engaged in.
The basic shit is that even here in Germany we have same trends. For example our "conservative" Angela Merkel fought for a small d democratic policy out of humanitarian conscience and help refugees here, and she is accused by the Trumps and our own social Democrats of having done a bad thing.
The new buzzword seems to be here: multi-kulti and it is supposedly not working, multi-kulti standing for peaceful neighorhoodly living of refugees and asylum seekers of several cultures and ehtnicities together with the "native Germans". It's always the same, people who have something to lose, be it power, land or money and safe jobs, will do everthing to keep what they fear to lose. The only difference I can see is that more people here resign when they obviously fail to represent the interest of the "poorer, little people" majority, be they "poor and conservative, or poor and social democrats".
All bs. Keep calm and nip it in the bud.

note: "The Learning Channel"'s successor, TLC, is where 16 and Pregnant airs. And the channel's entire lineup is the same kind of worthless, tasteless garbage.

Haven't had cable for years but wasn't it The Learning Channel
that .eventually turned into the Hitler Channel? I know I quit watching one of them for that reason. And A&E (Arts and Entertainment) turned into anything but art. It became 'Entertainment ' for people who could barely raise a blip on an EEG.

The Hitler Channel
No. That was "The Military Channel" (AHC today).
Ah, "Dog the Bounty Hunter" central!
The problem here is that "people who could barely raise a blip on an EEG" are, all too often, the same people who will buy shit just to shut the salesman up. And since advertising is canted towards such people, and advertising pays the bills, it doesn't take a mathematician of PriceRip's prowess to predict what will happen -- every time.
Truly I say unto thee again: Gak!
If you have some sort of access to "Classic Arts Showcase", a free and no-ads channel actually devoted to the arts, you'll get there what A&E falsely promised to deliver.

dumbest people
Not really. It's just that Americans are not exceptional; like all other human beings, the more of us acting as a group, the less intelligent that group is.
This gave rise to the saying:
“No one ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American public.”
which is a paraphrase of H.L. Mencken saying:
source
Please note that Mencken's actual observation is quite international in nature, applying to the "masses of plain people" everywhere; but some unknown wag paraphrased it to point directly to Americans.
Don't get me wrong -- altogether too many Americans deserve the paraphrased version! But we're far from unique!
"US govt/military = bad. Russian govt/military = bad. Any politician wanting power = bad. Anyone wielding power = bad." --Shahryar
"All power corrupts absolutely!" -- thanatokephaloides
American people are not unique at all,
but our nation's particular brand of stupidity is buttressed by the most powerful and most expensive military the world has ever known. This fact alone would make the USA exceptional, if not unique. And then there is also the petrodollar, which gives us the ability to create our money out of thin air -- a truly unique and enviable ability.

has toys and an attitude that makes us the biggest threat to human life on this planet and they use them constantly. But you said it much better that I would have.

I believe that we have to take out the corporate/billionaire backers first, from whom the Clintons borrow power and suck money, like too many other politicians and both of the Two-Faced Corporate Party Wings.
Only then can they hope to peacefully rest, bedded down amid the humongous piles of hundreds of millions of dollars (speeches being big money for them, as well as big money being speech, since only big money talks in language that they and those others among the pathologically greedy they represent can understand,) which they've never thought sufficient for retirement, but then would have to learn to make do with.

Someone asked the question why Ossof didn’t go after Handle on Trumpcare. The answer was the race was already too "nationalized". Goodness if you can't beat a candidate that doesn't support a liveable wage who can you beat? Also interesting when they put up an electoral map for 2018 they had no races targeted in WI. None!
