Saturday Song Open Thread - Richland Woman Blues

Hey, it's songday. I pick a song that I believe warrants it and publish an assortment of the covers of that song by various persons and or groups. Pick a few that are new to you and have a listen. It is also, of course, an open thread to talk about anything you feel like.

Today's song is: Richland Woman Blues

-

Mississippi John Hurt

Maria Muldaur

Ruthie Foster

Bonnie Raitt

Jim Kweskin Jug Band

Ramblin' Jack Elliott

Charlie Musselwhite & Ruthie Foster

So, the thread is open, the floor is yours'.

@duckpin
vocalist was Maria Muldaur (at times aka Maria d'Amato), who not only performed it with the jug band, but many, many times since. You could probably find 10 clips of her at different times and ages doing it.

That, in its essence, is fascism--ownership of government by an individual, by a group, or by any other controlling private power. -- Franklin D. Roosevelt --

@enhydra lutris wonderful vocalist over a range of styles. She and her husband Geoff did an album or two together which went underappreciated.

"US fighter jets pounded Al Qaeda targets in Yemen for a second straight day on Friday, killing eight militants, security and tribal sources said, as Washington steps up its air war against the militants.

The Pentagon said it had carried out more than 20 strikes on Thursday targeting Al Qaeda positions in the southern provinces of Shabwa and Abyan and the central province of Baida."

Neither Russia nor China is our enemy.
Neither Iran nor Venezuela are threatening America.
Cuba is a dead horse, stop beating it.

Public Service Announcement from Trump Administration, gee I wonder why? Maybe Bannon's judeo-christian army of thugs getting more outta control, or something like that.
