But first, The Recommendations:

•Our intent is to create a safe place to relax and play; please use common sense and have fun.
•Share any and all pootie/woozle/furry/feathery/leathery photos or issues that you would like.

FOMO is Fear Of Missing Out, and millennials have a lot of it, but I think us older folks do too! For the young, it's fear of missing a better social connection, a more fun party, etc., http://psychcentral.com/blog/archives/2011/04/14/fomo-addiction-the-fear...

Our lives must be always social and colorful!

But for me, it's fear of missing important news or opinion, or somebody needing a fundraiser or an encouraging word of support, or an important volunteer activity or protest event, or the latest understanding of climate change or economics or international relations or, or, or....

Aarrggghhhh!!!!! I'm missing out!!

When I was younger, there was one newspaper, three TV stations, it seemed like just a handful of books being published, I was in school studying an array of subjects, and I could keep up. I beat everyone at Trivial Pursuit, I could have been Jeopardy champ. And I know I'm not the only one around here.

Smart cookies!

Now? The whole Internet is open to me, I can look up anything I need to know, who needs to know trivia any more? But I still feel like I'm missing out! Sometimes it can be hard to find what you're looking for, and besides, what do all your political friends think?

And yes, sometimes I still go look to see what the others think Over There because I have FOMO!!

And heaven help me, sometimes I even find myself wondering what Trump is doing or saying now!

But it's not just politics. I want to eat what others are eating

It's probably about as pointless yet irresistible as a kitten chasing its tail!

So what about you? Do you have some variation of FOMO? If not, how do you avoid it in an information-intense world? If so, what do you do about it?

Please Note: This is an Open Thread, so discuss whatever you like!

disappeared somewhere in my thirties, with marriage, child, job, etc.

Social media is not my cuppa tea.

Anyway, Oscar wants to play fireman (he's going to the vet on Thursday for a check-up).

I resent the time it takes away from social media and reading political blogs!

Oscar's a handsome fellow! His coat looks glossy.

I leave the cat carrier out and open all the time, so that they're used to it. They even sleep in it sometimes - cozy! Makes it easier to pack them up for the vet. Maybe if you explain it's just a checkup, he'll be chill.

Named after his cousin and mine, Oscar II of Sweden. Anchovy love.

But he has diabetes, so it needs tending.

Oreo has had diabetes too. He'd been on insulin for about a decade. This past summer, he suddenly didn't need insulin any more! For a little while, he kept crashing with low blood sugar as we kept cutting his insulin in half until it was almost zero.

He is now stabilized at a lower weight and continues to eat a high-protein diet. No more shots! He always took them in stride, but I'm happy they're no longer necessary.

I'm partial to black cats. Maybe because they have an undeservedly evil reputation.

My pooties too get all over anything clean, as if I cleaned it just for them (when I'm usually cleaning because of them!). It doesn't even have to be comfy, although that rug looks like it is.

years of them... I had one family for three generations and then just kept getting black ones except when I didn't. Smile
I have a stash of pillow cases that are just for them from the thrift shop. I think they think they have relocated to a new sleeping spot because it is clean.

from your kewl photo collection--one of my favs is the photo of the sunbathing Huskies.

Have to admit, didn't have a clue what FOMO meant. Frankly, I've been so covered up with various tasks, lately, that I haven't had a chance to wonder if, or what, I'm probably missing out on. Oh, well . . .

Although I'm not wild about long road trips, I'm looking forward to one this week, since it allows me to take a mental rest, having been under intense pressure with so many business and personal deadlines to meet, lately.

Hope the foul weather (cold spell) that's soon to arrive, won't be too bad on anyone here. Luckily, we're traveling South, so our temps won't be much lower than the low 30's.

Have a great evening!

Mollie

Everyone thinks they have the best dog, and none of them are wrong.

I've been panicking over seeming to know less about what's going on than I used to for a long time, then I heard about FOMO and thought, "That's me!"

Nobody can know everything about everything, but darnit, I'd sure like to come as close as possible!

It seems that those of you who have no FOMO are very busy offline, so maybe that's the secret.

I hope you have a lovely vacation and stay warm. The holiday season can be rough.

The cats on the treadmill was hilarious. I can't believe that they weren't afraid of it and loved the one who used its two paws.
I got a black cat from a farm which was the first mistake. Then I picked the one that didn't want anything to do with me.
I used to have to walk around her because she loved to attack my feet.
But we finally became good friends
Her attitude changed big time when I got my first beagle because she thought she could be replaced or something. But her attitude did change and she became sweeter.
I'd love to have another cat but my neighborhood has mean dogs everywhere and I couldn't keep it inside because of the dawg door. I never want to have to get up and down again letting them in and out.
My cat's name was Mandus McGee Costello or Mandy for short.
For some reason she liked to attack my roommate in the middle of the night and I'd wake up to her yelling at Mandy.
Thanks for the laughs, needed that.

Which AIPAC/MIC/pharma/bank bought politician are you going to vote for? Don’t be surprised when nothing changes.

I love "Mandus McGee Costello". Excellent pootie name! Apparently she showed love by attacking.

If you fenced in a portion of your yard, including the top, you could have a pootie and dawgs going out the dawg door into the fenced area. I've been thinking about doing that to my patio. Or even screening the whole thing so I could leave the door completely open in nice weather without bugs flying in.

There's too much area for the cat to escape before it got to the fenced in area, plus you know my financial situation.
That's another reason why I won't get a cat. I'm having enough trouble taking care of the two dawgs.
Plus Charlie tried to climb the fence, slipped and cut her legs and stomach and has close to 90 stitches.
I'm trying to find money for the vet bill. I have just about everything I can think of to sell on the classifieds.

that is not what it seems. Consider:
- Much of "content" is written by English class dropouts, who will work for a badge or McDonald's coupon or "exposure".
- Much of "news" is fake and getting faker.
- Much of info is "curated" or meant to get you to buy stuff or promulgated by the NSA or Clinton/Dem party psy-ops bots.
- Much of "news" is propaganda or mind control.

So, just go out in nature, walk the dog, read a great book and be thankful that you really are MINO, or Missing Nothing.
