This is good -- though I don't know if we really need to discuss "justified violence" if most arguments against "violence" are your basic cherry-picking. I think it's better to view pacifism as a form of utopian dreaming; the concentrated wish for a better society from within the bowels of society-as-it-is.
This is Caitlin Johnstone. i wish there had been a shout-out to Rosa Luxemburg in this piece; Rosa was a grand theorist in her own right who famously said "socialism or barbarism." Rosa's idea of barbarism, moreover, was World War I, so reminiscent of the current war in the Donbas.
Things really need to develop more rapidly in France than they've developed so far if the current uprisings are to amount to anything at all. Here, Michel Feher argues that "I don’t view these uprisings as a sign of some general pre-revolutionary stage, exciting as they are, but hopefully as a prelude to a reopening of the left imaginary." And the Yellow Vest movement was hopefully a prelude to the prelude to a reopening of the left imaginary? That's some pretty thin hope you've got there.
Here Charlie Kimber argues: "A pre-revolutionary situation does not imply a smooth or inevitable path to revolution. It is about possibilities, structures and openings. Further development hinges on leadership that goes beyond one-day events and puts in place a systematic escalation of the fight that embraces the whole social crisis."
Revolution does not, however, mean (in itself) an escalation of any fight, though escalation and fights might accompany a revolution. What needs to change is the institutional imaginary; the masses need to rethink institutional life, and doing this must involve acts of institutional creation. This is why dual power was important to the three Russian Revolutions. Here in the US the primary destructive power is the Federal government, as the initial revolution will only occur when even the Kool-Aid drinkers, the people who are not yet pissed off enough to (at the very least) demand better from the entire political class, are either dead or fully awake.
Theory -- in this regard -- is not a series of preludes to hero-worship, but rather a stimulus to further thought, much in the same way in which going to school and attending classes might get you to think about stuff. Sure, we can nod up and down and say "sure -- revolution or extinction," but that wouldn't be further thought. There needs to be something more. So everyone please keep reading, because right now a revolution would be far more useful to us than a lot of other things we might do.

That, in its essence, is fascism--ownership of government by an individual, by a group, or by any other controlling private power. -- Franklin D. Roosevelt --
You, dear reader, are innocently watching YouTube. Suddenly Barack Obama comes on your screen. "I'll be honest with you." Just once I want the politicians to say: "I'll be honest with you. Evil is fun." Cut immediately to audio.
The honesty would be refreshing.

regarding Hegsbreath's 90 day survival plan for the military if the power goes out, at the same time no government official has given even a suggestion as to survival measures for the civilian population? Just asking for a friend (a fellow useless eater)...

At any rate, the 90-day survival in case of actual conflict plan looks either butt-covering (if they do attack) or showmanship (if they don't).

these cards can be used for barter if in need for goods or services.
Be careful trying to buy these at any location, you may be pushed aside, your cards may be taken from you by thieves, etc. People actually wait in line overnight for these cards, and when big box stores put them out, they are gone in minutes. Don't let them out of your sight. Most stores don't preannounce sales in advance. They are usually rationed out, only 2 boxes to a customer.
Unopened boxes are premium, because they may have a "rare card" sometimes worth in excess of one thousand dollars or more. Wholesale boxes of card packs are sold at about 60 dollars. Retail I think is about a hundred dollars more.
I personally have no interest in this, but I've met people who do it. At first, I couldn't understand what the appeal was... There are a lot more memes out there but I mostly don't get them because it isn't my thing.

I know there are a lot of pragmatic cynics on here commenting on voting. That is their opinion. It's not mine. I and my Hubster have already voted. Our ballots have been received, confirmed, and counted. It is not BS. We had absolutely no problems doing so. No ICE or MAGA interruptions. I live in ECFL: the east central side of downtown O-ville. You all know where that is. If you can vote, do so. The Fascist creeps count on the dumbing down of the populace, the destruction of genuine public education, and the rise in apathetic voters. It's a centuries old formula for mind control of the public. It sucks and should be soundly defeated. End of my rant. I hope you and Ms. legal eagle are getting set for your family trip. Vinnie will be fine. Give otc a hug. Cuidate, mi amigo.

Is France nearing a revolutionary situation?

Heya, good morning

a chuckle or two. Pony Boy is fun too.

Here's my mantra,
with the minor exception of not actually being able to drink coffee (hate the taste, and my cardiologist would kill me anyway):
If you substitute "whisky" for "coffee", it might apply better... Oh, and one more, my current favorite among all the Cheesecake Factory memes:
And, on edit- I had to go find this one, which also makes the grade:
Twice bitten, permanently shy.
Good morning, Johnny, thanks for the OT and memes. Not much to
say or add today.
Some things persist:

be well and have a good one
