Caucus Critters: Toosdae Trouble: Belated Halloween Edition!
We'z a diverse group!
Note: C99 was mighty slow on the uploading of photos yesterdae, so we finally had to give up about halfway through. But next week is way too long after Halloween, and we probably need an election edition next week, don't we? And I wouldn't want to let half a good diaree go to waste. So I present to ye a special Toosdae edition of Caucus Critters! Enjoy!
But first, The Recommendations:
•Our intent is to create a safe place to relax and play; please use common sense and have fun.
•Share any and all pootie/woozle/furry/feathery/leathery photos or issues that you would like.
•When it comes to problems, we may just have someone with experience who can help.
•If you would like a pic from the posts, please ask the poster. He/she may have a copyright to those pics. Many thanks.
•We love critters, so any/all photos that encourage human violence against an animal will be frowned upon and considered out of bounds!
Hoorae, it's Halloween! Let's celebrate!!
It's a howlidae!
Of course wolfs howl!
[video:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WwSYm1NPHP4 width:500]
Siamese howl at Mom showering - an oldie but a goodie!
Even friends howl!
It's a dae for costumes:
My Oreo is mooved!
For some reason, corgies always make us laugh - even when not acting bananas!
What a perfect puppy for an Ewok costume!
Giraffe in a Croc Costume!
It's a pigpoke!
My Ginger is magic!
A dae to be scared! There are lots of ways to be scared:
Some are scared of bats!
Me? But I'm little and furry!
Some are scared of germs!
Doan let children play here, K?
Some should be scared!
Watch out, little mousie!
Some are scared for no reason really!
Yikes! Made ya jump! Heh.
Some are scared of being outmatched!
Bird bigger than pootie; upsets natural balance!
Some scare us - we're scared of heights!
Careful there, flying koala!
We're scared of sharp objects!
Careful there, you could poke out an eye!
Or they scare us if we open the closet without knowing we had vissitors!
Hey! Privacy pleez!
Or maybe we're scared of old age and wrinkles!
Wrinkles make you uniquely you!
Or maybe we're just scared of a little smelliness.
We smell like flowers! Srsly!
But however much we kid around, you know there are no evil basement pooties forcing your goggie into servitude, right?
Walk gently on top of the goggie
So here's hoping you left all your fears behind with last night's spooky celebrations!
Hoppy Hallowienie!
Please Note: This is an Open Thread, so discuss whatever you like! Also, I posted Aminal Nooz Over There Sundae night, if anyone would like to go take a look (Warning: DKos link!): http://www.dailykos.com/story/2016/10/31/1588731/-Aminal-Nooz:-Sunday-Ni...

Hiya, ec. Been out walking the twins after trying to nap away a
head cold (or worse), so I noticed nothing. Thanks for the critters.

Oscar says...
"I will sleep in this box, dammit!"
Gëzuar!!
from a reasonably stable genius.
That is adorable!
Reminds me of Maru, the famous YouTube pootie.
A pootie who likes boxes can be a very determined pootie!

I'd Like to Add a Pic Here of my Woozle...
But when I click insert image, it brings up the root file of c99 and not my computer.
FAQ's does not address this either. Suggestions?

You haven't given it enough time maybe?
Give it a few extra minutes. See if you get a line above "Navigation" that says "Upload," "Resize," and "Send to editor". I just tried it, it is being a little pokey at the moment. After it appears, hit "Upload," "Browse," "Upload", then "Send to editor," make sure width is no more than 500 (you can eliminate the height measurement, it will automatically adjust to be in proportion). Voila!

Let's Try This
This is my woozle from a halcyon afternoon at the Bark Park. She is a red-tri Aussie Shepherd, now 2.5 years old. It's really warm here, so it was a delightful time to play!
At the moment, she's watching the World Series, rooting for the Cubbies. They are ahead at the moment.
Thank you for the help! Hallooo...

Aww, what a sweetie!
Beautiful goggie.
It was up to 82 here today. Almost too warm!
Glad we could help. Go Cubs!

Benny, she is beautiful. What is her name?
I rescued an Australian Shepard/Border Collie mix who was the sweetest dog in the pound but after I got her home, hoo boy. She tore up the backyard and my house and I couldn't keep her attention long enough for training and discipline.
I'd take her for long walks where she could run off leash and other places, so it wasn't that she was bored, just had too much energy.
I had a friend with a cattle ranch and took her there and watched her work with the other dogs and finally decided that she would be happier there doing what she was born to do. That's the only dog I gave away, but I think it was the right decision for her.
Here are my too rugrats
Charlie Brown and Abby

Her Name is Ruby
Fits, eh?
Ruby has a lot of energy, but she has grown-up a lot in the past 6-10 months. She has basic training, but she still requires some supervision when she's not in her crate, especially with 2 cats who were there before Ruby was adopted.
When she is off leash at the park and can get into some figure 8 runs, her speed and agility are quite amazing. She does like to "herd" other dogs at the park.
I'd like to find someone who allows dogs to spend some time at their farm as I'm curious as to whether she would really try to herd the animals or shy away.

That is an excellent name for her.
Does she try to herd the cats?

My dawgs are called a few other names too
Check out the animals in this link

Thank you, Snoops!
Those animals are adorable.
Ginger is also called "Get offa me!" and "Get off the computer!" She likes to look over my shoulder while I work, which is fine until she decides to step heavily just so - it's like the Vulcan neck pinch!

Abby is called a bunch of names
Abbynow, AbbyimeanitAbbyoncemoreanditistheleash
DammitAbbynow. As she is getting old she is getting more stubborn and going where ever she wants.
Charlie gets upset when i have to raise my voice to keep calling Abby so she stays close to me, but she has a few names too.
OMG my god you stink. (Gets a bath)
No, you didn't roll in something again (another bath)
Are you kidding me (another bath)
Charlie don't you roll in that again!
Many dogs do this but beagles are famous for rolling in the stinkiest stuff they can find so that they mask their scent.
I finally got smart and take shampoo with me on our walks and then she gets a bath from the sprinklers at the cemetery.
I hope you find the time to look at the other links on that site. The photos are incredible

My border collie, Aloha, smells like
pond scum because she goes in the pond everyday and it has scum. She prefers it that way and expects applause every time she sticks her head under water. Used to breathe in water but learned not to ... Her greatest accomplishment.
Heh. There's a lot to be said for a sense of accomplishment,
even if she does smell scummy! Is she trying to herd fish under there?

I am terrible at laying down the law. I've given up and use a
leash. We have an open area where a lot of people let their dawgs run, but mine never comes back, so now we go for a run down the sidewalk. I have no choice but to get in better shape!
I did look at the other site, they are adorable. I hope others will click on your link too!

Oink! Read all about farm animals founding their own republic
No, not in Orwell, but in a book called Freddy the Politician, part of the Freddy the Pig series, childhood favorites of mine.

Fascinating! I had never heard of these books! I guess I
fell into the cracks, born in 1960 and his last book published in 1958. Then by the time they were republished in 1980, of course I too old for children's books.
I would love to get my hands on them! I will check the library next time I go. They sound fantastic. Aminals, humor, what's not to love?
Thank you, LL!

Reading the Freddy series, or The Wind in the Willows . . .
even Rudyard Kipling’s Just-So Stories — ended up giving me very high expectations for how talking animals ought to be portrayed.
Maybe that’s why I ended up absolutely refusing to watch any Hanna-Barbera series (Huckleberry Hound etc.) and even despising the Kellogg’s company for foisting both its teeth-rotting sugar products and Hanna-Barbera’s crappy animation on us kids.
Aptly, Asperger originally called it “Little Professor” syndrome . . . at any rate looking back I can see that, very early on, I was already “Little Miss Chomsky,” asking, hey, what is this? Some kind of conspiracy to dumb us kids down with bad nutrition for both our bodies and our minds?
Those I did read. But I also watched more than my share of
cartoons! And loved Captain Crunch with Crunchberries! Maybe there was a little fruit juice in those "berries" that kept my brain from rotting? Or maybe the parents pulled us away from the TV after an hour or two even though they appreciated the benefits to them of passive entertainment.
I was an early avid reader. I may have just jumped from Dr. Seuss to Nancy Drew to Isaac Asimov without a lot of children's books in between, even though animal stories definitely held their charms. I remember wanting to be a grown up by the time I was about 5!

My faves were the Bugs Bunny Show and the Woody Woodpecker Show
Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies whether pre- or post-WW2, Koko the Clown and other animation from the silent era, Rocky and his Friends, Matty’s Funnies (featuring Beany and Cecil), Crusader Rabbit, . . . I was willing to watch some cheapo animation, if the writing was creative enough.
All in low-resolution, terrestrial, analog black and white — not like these kids today, coddled young whippersnappers with their color and high-definition and iPhones and iPads ::mutter:: ::grumble::
I watched Looney Tunes and Bugs, Rocky and Bullwinkle,
but also Hanna-Barbera. Woody Woodpecker always disturbed me for some reason, the distortion of the characters made me slightly ill. My Dad loved Road Runner, I never thought it was that funny, I felt sorry for the Coyote. But I loved Underdog.

Really? So did I!
I loved our family cat, so I also felt sorry for the cats in cartoons, who were always being typecast as the villain.
Artistically, the consensus would seem to be that Woody Woodpecker has not stood the test of time as well as the other examples of the cartoon craft I listed.
Somehow those didn't bother me as much!
Not when I was little. Knowing my lovely pooties, it just struck me as something untrue and absurd.
Of course once I was older and realized there were actually insane people in the world who didn't like because they didn't understand cats, I realized what propaganda that had been and didn't like the cartoons any more.

This election appears to have unleashed something that can't
easily be forced to crawl back under its rock. Three titles from Over There right now:
Blood spilled in Plano, TX - Illegal Trump sign rigged with box cutter blades
Mississippi Black Church burned, spray painted "Vote Trump"
Iowa police shooter a Confederate-flag-waving racist
Congrats, Trump and your deplorables. When racism = violence = patriotism, Houston, we have a problem.

"Appears to" may be the right phrase
considering the reports of Hillshills deliberately stirring up trouble at Trump rallies and so forth. You really can't take anything at face value, this time around. (Except maybe Jill Stein - what you see seems to be pretty much what you get, with her.)
There is no justice. There can be no peace.
