I was proud to go over there & Rec this diary.
It was even fun to do it very defiantly in response to the childish comments and warnings from those who were scolding others who had dared to Recommend it. I can't wait to see what my punishment is.
More to the point, it was an excellent, excellent detailed diary about exactly how Bernie Sanders was screwed by the PTB. I don't think any of us should EVER stop screaming from the rooftops about this. Not if we ever want our democracy back. What I find hillarious
Is I went and glanced at TOP when Clinton named Salazar to head her transition. Not a damn mention of it visible anywhere. They have ended their run as the "reality based community" and become a fact free community. Especially with respect to those facts that might cause cognitive dissonance in their pretty little heads.
I looked to see what they would say too
I saw two diaries about Salazar. One mildly against the choice, which was met with the usual bullying and flagging, and one for the choice. The diarist stated that he likes the choice.
I've simply stopped participating.
I don't see much point in trying to burst that collective bubble. And I figure after a few months of Queen Hillary's reign, some people over there might be having second thoughts. It might be fun to pop back in a year from now just to say hi how's it going.

I quit posting there because I was afraid I
would be banned. Kos had elfling and possibly others floating around in the diaries looking for heretics. Some kind soul bought me a lifetime membership, and I didn't want to risk being banned and losing that (the ads and my computer don't like each other). I'm retired and live alone. For the past five years or so, I made friends and was entertained. When this election began, the evil came out everywhere. People, who in the past had been funny and pleasant and trustworthy, turned into mean, nasty grumps. And then people who haven't participated much since they signed up crept out of the woodwork and lashed out with a vengeance. And then really mean newbies chimed in with pure hate, and if they were being paid, a whole bunch of made up bullshit. I thought I'd go back after the election. But, it's not even fun to be there anymore. Boring and boorish. Truthfully, it makes me sad. The other day, someone here spoke to me in the same (well, maybe not as mean) condescending way that is so common at TOP. People, please try to respect different opinions. This is a good place. Please don't fuck it up.
I avoid posting
for the very same reason. I am pretty sure who gifted me with a lifetime membership and that person still goes there. I feel I should at the very least honor that gift by not getting banned via flags. If they ban me for recommending a diary, that reflects more poorly on them than me.

It's a well-fortified
oasis of group-think. Everyone there seems to be on the same page, but it's not a very interesting page... unless you get a kick out of reading the same things over and over again. There's plenty off enthusiasm though. Introduce a single counter-narrative diary such as this one, and it's like some nasty germ getting attacked by hundreds of antibodies.

So instead I commented on her diary that I wouldn't be participating on a site that deeply disturbed me anymore, wished her luck, and said goodbye. And that was my last comment.

I skimmed a few comments (wow, so many strangers! I became a member there in 2004 and recognized only a couple of names). A couple caught my eye: Sanders supporters being referred to as "bros" (still), and the smug assertion -- apparently in response to said "bros" -- "We Dems don't do 'whites only' primaries."
I had not been there for weeks and weeks, and know I must NOT go back. Those people are so hateful, snotty, and spiteful that just reading their garbage makes me sick with anger. I have identified as a Democrat since Kennedy/Nixon and I could not be more appalled that those jackass reactionaries are what is now known as the "Democratic Party."

Over the years, in election lulls, there were diaries that shared info about food. About recycling. About veterans services. About new medicines. About travel. About archaeological discoveries. Good books, good documentaries, great economics diaries, and tons of opportunities to personally contribute to a kossack in need.
Then, I noticed Grayson was bad. Ted Rall was bad. Sirota was bad. In the I/P diaries, I was good, P was bad.
The whole place was just slip, sliding away. I feared Bill Moyers would be banned.
BBB was allowed to say any disgusting, filthy thing he wished. Mr. amirite would get banned, return spouting off any putred thing he wished.
